I was just flicking through the newspaper when i saw that a couple Azn films were being shown this week. Im sorry for the late notice (again) but i don't usually read the newspaper. There's one tonight, a korean film called The Story of Chunhyang and there's another on next tuesday - a japanese movie called Nabbie's Love.
Just thought that everyone (that comes in here, which is like 5 people) would like to know..... Also if anyone has seen these, could they tell me what they thought of them as i probably won't be able to watch them both.
Here are the times:

Both are on SBS of course...
Tonight, 11.25pm is The Story of Chunhyang, and on next Tuesday (the 21st) theres Nabbie's Love on at 10pm.

Thanks for the heads up AznSupersaiyan21 but I just want my Hong Kong Action. Speaking of which, the Duel is on tonight at 8:30 on World Movies. Am I like the only one who has this channel?

I know. It sucks, but I can't think of anything new to talk about relating to HK cinema.

Hello! I'm back!! Hooray, rejoice!!
I watched a tiny portion of those movies i posted - they were really crap. But anywho, there are more movies on this week. And im abslutely sure that one of them is great!!
okay, firstly there is Whispering Corridors on sbs on tuesday at 11:30pm. Its a korean movie, i think ive seen it and its a horror movie about this young teacher who returns to teach at her old school. When she arrives these creepy murders start to happen which seem to be supernatural....

Okay, next one. On friday night, at 11:10 pm, theres Shark Skin Man and Peach Hip Girl, which is a japanese movie. Last time it was on i only go to watch about the last 10 mins, but it seems pretty cool.
And then there is Lady Ninja, Reflections of Darkness, which is also japanese and on Saturday 10:05 pm. Ive only seen a little bit of this movie, i didn't like it but meh, i'll watch the whole thing this time....

okay then, just wanted to tell you fans some movies are on....

There's one on tonight, the korean one, and i just hope that the regulars have seen this thread, lol all ~starts to count~ maybe 5 of us?

Shark Skin Man and Peach Hip Girl was ok. The start was shaping up ok, but then I lost interest. Lady Ninja is funny, in a very weird kind of way.

Shark Skin Man and Peach Hip girl is based on a manga for anyone interested.

Also the man playing shark skin man (forgot name) voice acted for Batou in Ghost in the Shell (I think).

SBS must put the Ring movies on (Ring and Ring 2) I must say that this was the first movie to genuinely scare me since Arachnophobia, only problem being the upbeat techno track at the end credits (it ruins the creepy mood )

You Must Watch Ringu!!! (-waves hand in manner of Jedi-)

There's a Hong Kong film on Saturday called Heroes Shed no Tears. It was made in 1986 and is about Chinese mercenaries trying to capture a drug lord. That is all I know but it has the ingredients of a decent action flick. So it's on SBS at 10:05pm Saturday. Be sure to watch or Mangadude will get you.

I didn't watch Heroes Shed no Tears but I taped it so I'm not a hypocrite. Will watch it soon. Also tonight World Movies will be premiering the Conman, a Jing Wong directed film starring Andy Lau. It's a drama about a Conman (duh). Madman released it but I have never seen it at a video rental or retail store. Oh and on Wednesday SBS will do a repeat screening of the Japanese action flick Hana-bi. I still haven't seen this so I'll be taping that as well.

good ol' John Woo, will he ever go wrong?
on a separate tangent, I wouldn't mind seeing some Jonny To movies sometime, I saw a couple at last year's Hong Kong movie festival in Sydney, and he makes the Woo look soft in comparison...

You could always purchase Running Out of Time which Madman have released on video. I thought it was a really good movie as it provided suspense and thrills without a lot of real action.
As for Heroes Shed no Tears, that really was a non stop action movie. I don't recall a period in the film that lasted for more than ten minutes that didn't have any action. It really was an action fan's dream. Lovers of plot should probably look elsewhere as there really wasn't one there. There was however a few touching scenes between father and son and all the deaths were quite tragic.

Saw the Conman last night and I really did enjoy it. I'm usually an action kind of guy but this entertained me with its story. While the film was predominantly a drama there were a few humourous scenes. Twice in the film Andy Lau was hit by a car.

I suppose it's a bit late, but 'SHAOLIN TEMPLE', starring Jet Li was on at 1:05am this morning. I didn't watch it, but I have seen it before and it is great.

Well, I finally got the internet back on, it's a friends, but i won't be getting my own internet connection back on till the end of July... but it's all good.
Yes, Shaolin Temple was on SBS on Saturday night, I have seen it countless times and i never get sick of it.
Shaolin Temple 2, the sequel (duh) of Shaolin Temple is on this Saturday, at 2:15am on SBS. But before that, There is a Japanese movie on Thursday, again on SBS and is screening at 12:00am. The title is 'Hypnosis' and i'm pretty sure i've seen it.
Well, that's all from me. Nice to be back. ^_^

The enigma that is Friday occurs once every seven days until D Day comes along and no day of the week will ever be repeated. I have D day marked as next Tuesday on my calendar so if you haven't already done so, buy clean underwear. Now to answer your question penguin obsessed lunatic (ssj4_Vegeta), Beast Cops was on last Friday.

Today's the day isn't? Better do my laundry then. Anyway I saw this Hong Kong film on Sunday called The Last Blood. It had a few decent action scenes but I found the plot particuarly amusing. You see there's this terrorist group that goes around killing politicians and people of great importance. Their next target is the Daka Lama who while travelling on a plane meets up with Andy Lau's girlfiend. He tells her that they have similiar star signs and that their fates are intertwined. So when the terrorists take a shot at the Daka Lama Andy Lau's girlfriend is also shot. They both need blood for an operation but of course their blood type is the extremely rare type 'P' which is carried by only three living people. So Andy Lau and this Interpol dude have to track down the donors and get them to the hospital. The terrorists though want the Daka Lama dead so they go around killing the potential donors.

Yeah I taped it and had to watch it about 3 times because I kept flicking channels and lost vital plot info (^_^);

It wasn't as scary as Hypnosis or Ring, IMO. The creepiest part was the scene in the back of the actress' VW.

I don't think so. It was meant to be on a while ago, but SBS put some French movie on instead... I was so disappointed. I missed 'Baby Cart in Hades' to boot.

BUT, tonight is the night. I will not miss 'Baby Cart in Peril'!!!

yah.. I got carried away chatting to Slykura (we were writing in Romanji Cantonese to each other) and missed the first 15 minutes- and being as "particular" as I am about movies- would rather watch the whole thing rather than only what was left...

I did however manage to see this funky little Japanese movie called Wild Zero. It's about Rock and Roll, short shorts, zombies, aliens and transvestites. Plenty of bloodshed as well.
