I'm not sure if this is the appropriate forum, but it seemed the best I could find...

I was just wondering why Madman doesn't use SSL for encrypting sensitive information (ie: Credit Card details) when customers are ordering online? I know chances are slim that one particular connection would be intercepted, but it seems best to cover all bases - and people are taught to trust that little padlock.

The site isn't going to get an upgrade until early 2004 at the very earliest.

I could have sworn the site did use an SSL connection of somesort.

Don't trust the padlock-- it can be fooled.

Unless you know the exact details about how a site's security works, you absolutely cannot guarantee that it's secure.
