I just got this dvd and checked out the extras, when I try to play the WOH trailer ( ok I can't spell the H part ) the screen flickers and then turns back to the menu page with the trailers, it is then jammed and you cannot go anywhere. This only happens when I try to play the WOH trailer, the movie and other trailers work fine. So is this a common problem, should I return it or stick with it and never see the WOH trailer

I dont have this DVD so I cant be sure. If there is no scratches or marks on the DVD then it is probebly just the player. Try using another one. If it still doesnt work and it really bothers you, take it back.

- That is of course that the trailer doesnt work, then I will be corrected by someone shortly. Perhaps not shortly. Sooner or later

This is a classic series Dj_Psygnosis. It's the 1st of the Lupin III movie series and it ROCKS!!. I don't have it on DVD at the moment since I'm getting most of MM's latest titles but I'll get it eventually.

How many movies are there? I've seen From Russia with Love (I think that's what it's called) and Castle of Cagliostro. I liked CoC a lot better. The other one just didn't hold my interest as well.

I think other movies such as Secret of Mamo is older. I think Cagliostro was made in 1980 which was newer than Mamo.

At least a dozen from what I've heard and Funimation has taken over the rights as well.

I really, really love this movie.
I thought the older version dub was SO much better! I was SO disappointed with the new one. Seriously that SBS/VHS dub was one of the best dubs EVER!

Umm, yeah. I don't think Castle of Cagliostro was the first Lupin III movie. As klee123 said, Secret of Mamo is older - I think.

Masaru: I don't think I had that problem with my DVD. Weird.

I wish MADMAN would release Goodbye Lady Liberty!!

I really did like the old Streamline dub because of the voices. However this dub differs greatly from the original Japanese version. An example of this is in the scene where Goemon cuts off Wolf's clothes after they catch on fire. In the Streamline dub he says "Should have worn an asbestos suit." In the Japanese version his words are "Once again, I cut a worthless object." The new English dub is pretty much exactly the same as the Japanese version.

Ah so what if the dub differs from the original? I mean if it's done well? If (in the case of CoC) it's funny (for the right reasons!), and fits well, doesn't screw up the story, and is a better joke for western audiences? That's why we have DVDs to watch subtitles if we want a more accurate translation. I suspect it was easier to redo the sound than make a really good restoration. What I was more p***ed off about was the poor bitrate. The blocks are HUGE! Why bother restoring it, to release it on such a low quality? (That said, I love my DVD and i'm not about to give it away!)... Oh, and as far as I know of 14 L(R)upin III movies (of varying quality):

Lupin III: Die Nostradamus
Lupin III: Gold of Babylon, The
Lupin III: Greatest Tales (aka. Lupin III: Tales of the Wolf)
Lupin III: Legend of the Twilight Gemini
Lupin III: Napoleons Dictionary
Lupin III: Plot of the Fuma Clan, The
Lupin III: Secret File
Lupin III: Secret of Mamo, The
Lupin III: Tales of the Wolf
Lupin III: The Castle of Cagliostro
Lupin III: The pursuit of Harimao's Treasure
Lupin III: Tokyo Crisis
Lupin III: Walther-P38
Lupin III: Zantetsu Sword is Burning

...and if anyone knows anyone who has any of these (exc. Secret of M, and CoC) please let me know!!! I'd love to borrow a copy.
PS.. I didn't have a prob with my WoH trailer, except from the fact it was never released!

It's not a universal problem--I have the DVD myself and have no trouble playing it.

BTW: YEs, Mamo is in fact the first.
