I came up to Animania with the rest of the AVCon committee (the entire committee plus 2 heads of events attended) and helped to sit at our stall and pimp AVCon shirts Razz

Packed my madboard shirt but never wore it....

Everyone must come to AVCon, mentok commands it!

Too be honest I haven't looked at all XD Though it would be cool to meet more of you. I went to the UC Anime club with Queenie and Kardith for a little while at the start of the year until I ended up getting stuck at work until 12:30am four days a week ;__;

I have the same problem with work. Doing nightfill for Woolworths [Charnwood] doesn't help much with getting to nighttime screenings.

Don't know about the UC club, but the ANU clubs...

Magical Girls Club: Tuesday nights 6-9pm
ANUAS: Friday nights 5.30-8.30pm with some on saturday's every now and then.

They've both just gone on exam break after this week, so nothing for 4 weeks, and then maybe hoilday screenings.

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/anu_anime (they both have websites as well, it's just faster to get the urls for these)

fiathriel - Thank you ...I think.... I really enjoyed cosplay Integra, it's a great power trip and I highly recommend it. I'll be cosplaying Integra again at the UNSW Xmas party and probably again at avcon, unless my next cosplay is done, so if you see me please feel free to Glomp. Very Happy Kawru sure seemed to be glomping around Alucard towards the end of Sunday.... Shocked

Kabukiyasha- Your cosplaying was so great! it sucked cause you were on right before us both days! So we had to listen to you on the stair well. Crying or Very sad I also got a whole pile of Virus posters off you guys that are now on my walls. Great stuff! Very Happy

And kinda off topic but...

HOLY POOP IN A BAG, there really is a www.pimphats.com!

Damn Mitchell! You really are weirder then I gave you credit for....

*sniffle* I wanna be a boy so I can have one of those cool canes and rent hookers Crying or Very sad

Then again, I could always Photoshop that stuff onto Aya from Weiss Kreuz or Seishirou from Tokyo Babylon... Oh yeah, I'm so doing that ^^

Luv and glomps,
~Fri

PS- Mitch, if you wanna cosplay a pimp, go as Tohma from Gravi- the ultimate hoe-master!

Well. I'm thinking of ditching Animania for AVCon next year. And if I do, you can be sure that the Yaoi Virus will infect every last corner of that venue.

Come on, fangirls! We've done it to every other anime convention, we can do it to AVCon! XD

Luv and glomps,

How was the place compared to last year - being at Town Hall in the middle (?) of the city?

I agree , dam the HSC . I am going next year for sure , no matter what happens.

Any free dvd samplers ? What was on it ?

We were aware of that, but we were forced to move the convention 2 weeks later than usual to fit in the venue. Sorry to all the Year 12's this year.

Rejoice for next year for we have moved back to the Animania Weekend (2nd weekend in October). Or more specifically October 8-9, 2005.

Wheeee.

Indeed. It was pretty damn awesome. I hope they do it again next year.

Really? I am getting mixed responses about the Dance Party. I personally thought it was awesome.
We could either:
1) re-perform the Vampire Hunter D scoring.
2) re-score a new movie (any suggestions)
3) do a completely different type of party. 2 hours of J-Trance anyone? *shudder*

Definately:

Here are my suggestions:

Akira
Metropolis
Martian Successor Nadesico: Prince of Darkness
X

I would have Ghost in the Shell up there but I believe DJ Tasman (sp?) has already done it.

Dare I suggest, next time we make tshirts with a photo of Sly on them (being molested by the Surprise Sex Ninja of course) with "madboards <3 Sly" underneath? Razz

But we don't all like Sly. In fact, I turned away from the madman stall when it looked like Sly was coming over to serve me.

As am I. After volunteering and getting screwed over at Supanova and after this showing of Animania, I think I might be avoiding Sydney next year all together.

Next year it looks like Iíll be going to at least 2 or more out of:

SakuraCon
Anime Detour
Anime.AU
AVcon
Manifest

I understand being screwed over for colunteering at Supanova; I recently found out that someone was going around saying I'd lied on my application form by saying that I'd volunteered for Supanova in previous years. That's just plain untrue, and I have the 2003 volunteer badge to proove it.

What's SakuraCon and Anime Detour? Haven't heard of those. Aussie cons?

Side note: Our hostel room wasn't exactly Sly Central, was it? Wink

It bloody hurt actually =P
So did most of the ppl who decided to hit me on the Sunday Evil or Very Mad

All well and good to act up, using the host as a target for roleplay show off... but I'd like to stress that us hosts have to interview over 40 cosplayers and it's awful hard to keep a pleasant expression on your face and entertain the crowd when your head hurts.

So treat us hosts with a little respect guys and pull those punches and tackles, we're only doing it for you after all..

And AVCON AVCON AVCON!
You know you all want to come.... Wink

Featuring: Mitchell and whatever cool costume he happens to drag up Wink

Here's a hint at what I may be doing Very Happy

That's a shame I was so epoxied to my seat during the Vampire Hunter D scoring it wasn't funny. Totally enthralled, I thought it was EPIC!

I'd be happy with either option 1 or 2, but please just not Akira Razz

What really would be brilliant, is if you could get that Vampire D scoring on cd/mp3 or something so it could be played back with the DVD at home. As I felt it brings the whole film to a higher level.

(Yeah yeah, I loved it maybe too much Razz )

I want it also. I have always thought Bloodlust was quite average (especially compared with the original VHD) but I now see it in a different light thanks to the very fitting rescore.

Nothing wrong with the fact you enjoyed it so much BCT, my friends and I loved it too!

Too much yaoi is unbalancing. Must retain balance.......

YURI YURI YURI YURI YURI YURI YURI YURI!

There, that helps balance it out

I don't know why i kept on reading that manga, but i did scream and got rid of it when i saw yaoi going on, only to pick it up a while later and repeat actions.

Judging by one of those pics I take it I wasn't the only one who spotted the bootleg stuff.......

Those posters were definitely dodge. Pretty sure they were those 'Carmay Arts' ones out of taiwan. I got caught out by another vendor with them a while back. All wised up now. They seem to scan a lot of calendars and mag pics, then print them A3 laminated often cropping some of the words, picture etc off.

DIE BOOTLEGGERS DIE!

The thought of an entire room of people bitching about me is quite amusing and frankly quite sad. Laughing

For the record... whole room, minus one... I have no objections... you sold me Puni Puni Poemy on the first day and a belt on the second...

Well, I could tell you exactly why we donít like you, but it isnít likely you would listen to it. You didnít pay much attention to one of the reasons mentioned at the madman panel.

Don't worry Sly, I still love you! <3 <3 <3

Can I ask, what's with the hate? You know you don't seem like the most approachable fellow yourself, Caloris.

Anyways, back to Animania... did anyone see the Kawaii panel??? What on earth was up with that. I haven't been to many cons and was wondering if those sort of crap time-fillers are present at many of them?
Next time I'll try and avoid anything called a 'cute' panel that's hosted by two boring old men...
