I just posted this as there is no thread like this.
What games would you recommend that is worth playing and also write a review of game that you think are worth mentioning.
I Recommend these for the PS2 Console.
Samurai Warriors - Based on the legends of 16th century samurai/ninjas its basicly a hack n slash with rpg elements added, its very addictive one i would recommend if you like all the odds against you.
Dynasty Warriors 4 - Same as above, but the setting is in china (Romance of the Three Kingdom Settings) Legendary chinese warriors.
Dynasty Warriors 4 : Empires - Same as Dynasty Warriors 4 but with a little more tactical/strat involved also you get to invade other territorys which you can't do in dynasty warriors 4.
So write and tell us your games. _________________ Avatar : 801 TTS Airbats/Ellcia |

Alex Kidd in Miracle World - Quite possibly the greatest game ever made. It has a excellent storyline, amazing graphics, mind-raping puzzles and he rides a shiny red bike.
What more could you want?

SNK vs Capcom: Match of the Milennium for Neo Geo Pocket Colour. Quite simply the best beat em up with the best cast of characters.... though the omission of Andy Bogard from the SNK side is disturbing.... |

Hmmm... here's a quick sample with a vague reason why I mentioned it.
Planescape Torment. Brothel of Slating Intellectual Lusts.
Xenogears. Kill God.
Grim Fandango. Magical Noir.
Outcast. Picturesque and musically immersive.
Skies of Arcadia. Aika and Anita. Yurilicious.
Star Control 2. Hallelujah!
Dune 2. Reporting-tshhk. WORM SIGN.
Dragon Strike. Gourad shaded 3D terrain! Wireframe! Oh my!
The Fool's Errand. My brain is melting!
Betrayal at Krondor. Women love the moredhel faery chests too!
Total Annihilation. Brawlers are funtastic! |

For the PS2 I'd reccomend Viewtiful Joe, its $60 brand new and its a great game. _________________ I thought what I'd do was, I'd pretend I was one of those deaf-mutes. That way I wouldn't have to have any goddam stupid useless conversations with anybody. - J.D. Salinger |

GCN Viewtiful Joe > PS2 Viewtiful Joe
It's much cheaper, has a superior Control scheme, not to mention:
"Henshin Around!" |

The PS2 Version is missing a few Soundbytes compared to the GCN Version.
"Henshin Around!" is one of them. |

After Onimusha 1(I also played Genma on xbox),2,3 and Samurai Warriors it got me interested in learning about the Warring States period of Japan.
Who cares about History Textbooks if you want a basic knowledge of 16th Century Japan play Samurai Warriors(even though some of it is made up ).
So I must say these games do get a hold of you.

Yet a another gamer with taste. It ties for 1st place next to Secret of Mana for best game of the Snes era.
But what ticks me off is Square-ENIX is in the position of power to make a sequel but they choose not to. _________________ Cosplay list:

Signed, but Anita wasn't actually in the original Dreamcast version... she was one of the add-ons for the Gamecube.
Skies of Arcadia is probably the best RPG on any current-generation system, though. Except maybe... random monster battles.

I believe all the bounties were like that... Nevertheless. I was going to say boss battles of which I mostly mean the battles for the bounties, but there are plenty of games with memorable boss battles.

Production IG animation, mostly.
Also, a return to the more traditional, pre-FF7 RPG storylines. _________________ XBL: Tamaaya | PSN: Stormo | Steam/GameCenter: StorminNorman | Stormo Plays Games

How much is it worth?
(Or perhaps, rate it a percentage and then multiply it by the RRP. I'm seeing it at $100 at EB. I'm guessing RRP is $90. Don't support EB, folks, unless you want to encourage further price gouging. Remember, we haven't been at US$0.50 for a long time now and yet prices are still the same when that was the excuse.) |

Fallout and Fallout II
Any RPG fan that has not played these should do so, or God have mercy upon your soul.
Also, although it is the uber kiddy, Muppet Treasure Island, for its greatness and kiddy humour.
With pirates, you cannot go without any of the Monkey Island games, all four of them. Now.
Also, the Metal Slug series owns my soul. |

Halo 2 - It's bloody brilliant. There's only two faults with the game: 1) They should have kept the multiplayer game-entering timer from the first halo (having people reset the count is really annoying -_- but when you could out-battle people to play, it was good). and 2) I NEED AN ENDING! ARGH!
Fable - Dress like a girl and freak guys out.. oh yeah! I haven't actually played it yet, however ^_^ _________________ Hoi hoi! |

Andy should die. I do, however, agree with your other point.

Technically Terranigma is the final in a trilogy of games. Soul Blazer, Illusion of Gaia and Terranigma. I'd be happy witha remake on the GBA.
And Pikmin 2 beeds to be bought by people. So does Aria of Sorrow. _________________ Give in to the demon inside. It will set you free...

Yeah the only problem is that the only tie it has to the illusion of gaia is that you can fly over Cape Town, it really has absolutly nothing to do with the previous games. A sequal would be awsome, although I'm not really sure what they could do with the plot. Still I would be happy if some other RPG's actully took up the gameplay idea, so you know. They arn't boring as **** to play . I mean as much as I love RPG's and ****, my god they are tedious |

Yeah I've played Illusion of Gaia(or Illusion of Time English name) and heard of Soul Blazer but as for Terranigma being the final game in the series I want to know if that was made official by Enix.
But anyway yes I highly agree that a port or remake is in order for the GBA.

2nd best Castlevania game ever made (SOTN being the first), Very good story (even if it only lasted ten hours).
I can't wait for the Castlevania in development for the DS, Hopefully it won't a port of SOTN (because I'm happy with my copy on the PSone). _________________ Cosplay list:

I wouldn't mind a port, I've never even seen Symphony of the Nights in a store or anything. Although I have to agree that Aria of Sorrows rocks, I much prefer the gameplay in it to the normal ones. And the end rocks.

Playing as Fox with a Bunny Hood in Lightning Melee is always funnn.
Although you do tend to fall off a lot.
My friend hates Lightning Melee cause I usually beat him.

Obscure Titles, he is just going to say Katmarai Darmacy.
I really cool obscure Snes game is Umi Hara Kawa Se, I think you can only get it as a Rom though, and I'm not sure about Madmans policy on Abandonware so I won't link to it. Its really short but also increddibly cool.
Another really underated game is Saberwulf on the GBA, its really fun, I mean come on, its a Rare game, have they ever made a bad game? |

Tie Fighter is much better as you play an imperial pilot and being evil as well, and mechwarrior 2 mercs is much better then mechwarrior 2 the original, well that just my opinon.
I'm suprised no-one mentioned Baldurs Gate series (1 & 2) one of the best D&D series ever, if you never played this go get this game its a classic in RPG's. _________________ Avatar : 801 TTS Airbats/Ellcia |

Okay then... let's see...
Rez is the best game you've never played. A sublime mix of Panzer Dragoon and an ecstacy pill, it is a game about experience over gameplay. Sit back, enjoy the ride and shoot to kill.
Ico will break your heart. Why this game isn't the biggest selling PS2 title in history is beyond my comprehension.
Disgaea is like a pen-and-paper RPG, but with the fat bearded guys dressed as Aragorn taken out, and without the requirement to roll a d20. Ever. It also contains crack.
Also keep an eye out for upcoming releases of Nippon Ichi's other two tactics RPGs, La Pucelle Tactics and Phantom Brave. Both are getting PAL releases early next year.
Ikaruga is criminally underplayed. You have to actually pay it to realise that it's actually a puzzle game cunningly disguised as a shoot-em-up.
Radiant Silvergun is the prequel to Ikaruga, and is a far, far better game. In fact, it's so good that you should go and buy a Saturn, mod it, and import this game from Japan. Eating is less important than playing RSG.
Katamari Damacy. Chu-chu chuchu chu-chu-chu-chuchuchu!
ESPGaluda won't kick your arse like DoDonPachi DaiOuJou, but it's pretty arse-hard and worth a look anyway. Nice graphics, too.
Any random Guilty Gear game is worth tracking down. If you don't have one, Guilty Gear XX#reload is due out pretty soon in Australia, and will be well worth getting a hold of. Easily the best 2D fighting game series ever.
Wild Arms 3 is a really cool take on RPGs, with an old-west setting. If you're after a mostly traditional RPG experience in a somewhat different setting, then this is worth checking out.
I wonder if Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne is getting a local release.
I might leave it there and come back with more later. _________________ XBL: Tamaaya | PSN: Stormo | Steam/GameCenter: StorminNorman | Stormo Plays Games

Looks like as I said Andy is missing from ANYTHING relating to SNK vs Capcom, & King of Fighters 2003. He IS however in Garou: Mark of the Wolves (Neo Geo only) which takes place in 2007. He isn't a playable character, he's in one of the endings. If this is anything to go by then Andy isn't dead, just taking a break I guess He can always come back!! |

For the PC RPG player, while I could recommend the Fallout series, or Baldur's Gate or Icewind Dale or Planescape Torment, I'll recommend one that really didn't get as much recognition as the above games. A little game called Arcanum. Playing in the midst of an industrial revolution in a world originally influenced by magic? Genius. Plus, making your own weapons and armour as a technologist is awesome. So is summoning Monty Python-esque killer bunnies as a mage. >=D _________________ Winters spread by blizzard beasts! |

WOW this thread should be called the RPG / Music game thread for obvious reasons, therefore I will add a little spice.
-Independence war -the first space sim that was believeable because it used a real physics engine and a good plot with crazy enemy ship names like indecent proposal, no surrender, lock stock and my personal favorite the name of the indies captured destroyer the "Under New Owenership", or UNO for short.
-Independence war 2: Edge of Chaos -the sequel to I-war, this time the story is more open and less mission based, pluss this time you play a pirate and his crew of newly escaped prisoners, add a secret bio-bomber base one hell of a plot, a wisecraking AI left over from I- war 1 as well as cool ships and weapons and you have one hell of a game.
Call of Duty - simply the best WW2 shooter ever.
Master of Orion II - still the best empire building game out there.
URBAN ASSUALT -the first of only two games that alow you to both build and move tanks, planes, choppers etc like an RTS while also being able to drive anything you can build. _________________ Also check out this just for a laugh
