Arse Gun?

In the 80's series Astroboy had a gun on his backside which made him look like he was shooting bullets out of his backside. So does anyone know why it was left out?

I'd have left them out too if I was making the show! Kids just won't take a hero seriously in this day and age if he shoots from his bum.

Okay, fine, we laughed at it back in the 80s too. Laughing But kids' TV is a lot more scared of outraged parents now than it was then. Rolling Eyes

However, those of you who miss the bum-mounted machine guns will be happy to know that they're available in the GBA game (not sure about PS2), so they haven't diasppeared completely...

I'm guessing they decided that an arm cannon was cooler.

Oh, and in a aforementioned Game Boy game, you actually get both the machine guns and the arm cannon - making him the most powerful depiction of Astro ever!

More like Bubba wouldn't be able to get within three feet of Astro.

I'm guessing it has something to do with the fact that Osamu Tezuka, creator of astro boy is dead. In the original manga the 'arse' gun was one of astro's seven special powers, so I doubt Tezuka would've approved of it being left out if he was still alive.

Cool

Osamu found then interesting enough to put them in the first place.
Probably some execs opted to remove them for the new version.

Considering they replaced the machine cannons the arm cannon, Astro still, essentially, has the seven powers.
