I imagine it's due to the fact that the WRX isn't very good at, and was never intended for, high speed. Given how huge the straight is there, the rally-biased gearing would completely kill the WRX's chances of a good time. As for the Evo's good time, I suppose the gearing is more speed-friendly? *shrug*
http://www.tuningpt.com/store/tsukuba.htm
A list of lap times around Tsukuba, which favours handling over top speed... Evo VIII beats Spec-C, which beats Skyline which beats RX-7... it's insane how close the times are.
Regardless, I wouldn't turn down a WRX if I was offered one |

She's a ganguro (Well technically a yamamba). This page (despite being painful for the eyes) explains them. It was popular 2000-2003 or so, but there are still ganguros in Japan, and I <3 them. Best subculture ever. |

Planning some body work... Thinking of going for the Top Secret kit (or atleast the front bar, as it is state-of-the-bad-ass-art), however, it is... Pricey, to say the very least XD I'm just trying to get onto the mob who are listed as TS's official aus distributor to find out exactly what I'd be up for. And once I've got just what lumps of fiberglass I'll be bolting on sorted it'll go in for a fresh coat of silver paint *nod* _________________ You have not convinced mighty Ziltoid, for I am so omniscient that if there were to be two omnisciences I would be both!

nice choice, Sauceman. should look good when your finished.
i was thinking of getting a sti front bar for my baby but because of the state of the roads up here, there would be nothing left of it after driving around for 5 minutes.
so, instead, i'm gonna get a ajustable sti wing & a larger bonnet scoop from MRT. _________________ TEAM Initial D TEAM Berserk

hey guys hows it goin? I just signed up yesterday. At the moment i'm driving a 94' Holden Rodeo, the only mods as yet have just been some parts i've fabricated for the tray and done a bit of polishing up. I've also started to make up a 2 inch mild steel exhaust and brought a set of pacemaker headers for it but have'nt fitted them up yet. i don't have much in the way of cash at the moment but hopefully i can get some money together and maybe get a set of rims and lower springs. I think i like the mini truck look so thats the path i'm following at the moment. Good to see you guys are into your cars, some of em' look great by the way. Anyway I've rambled on enough hope to get some pictures up and speak to you all soon. Cheers!! |

And it's insanely obvious you are talking absolute rubbish. There is no such thing as a DC3 (unless you're talking about airplanes, but Honda didn't make that anyway). If you're referring to the DC2... EVEN if you got the RX7 and the DC2 mixed up... the fact that the owner of the car said it's an RX7 means it is.
I think it's safe to say that this is a troll who will have a very short life on the Madboards. |

I sold my beast 'cause i'm moving to japan for a year.
The question is, should i buy a car and bring it back?
With the new import laws I have to own, register and get parking permits for the car for 12 months in japan before i can bring it back. I think the price of this for 12 months will be more than the savings made from buying it in japan in the first place.
*sigh* |

It's only about $2000 to ship and $3000 to get complianced.
It sounds like a lot, but when you consider that you can buy an FD RX7 for about $7000 there ...
Here they cost about $25,000+ |

I currently own a genuine HSV SV89 (only 200 built)
It has a stocky 5L V8 engine, stage 2 shift kit, 3 inch exhaust, HM headers etc etc.
The car is currently for sale and once it sells I am buying an EG Civic VTi and putting an Integra Type R B18CR VTEC engine into it along with 18 inch Racing Hart wheels, C-West bodykit, Sparco seats etc etc. Should be one hell of a hatch |

It's funny how the Honda crowd are being viewed by all the other car enthusiasts out there. To be honest though all the guys who own riced up Honda's generally know nothing about cars and they don't even drive VTEC Honda's. The guys who really appreciate VTEC and own JDM style Honda's are the true enthusiasts so how about you stick your turbo trash and show some respect to the n/a 4 cylinder engines that can hand your ass to you every now and then
BTW I know a guy with an R33 Skyline and has covered it in Mugen stcikers (yes, Mugen) and a carbon wing while the engine is stock and slow
PS I realise that there is a turbo Skyline in my avatar and I love turbo cars but your ignorance is astounding and someone had to say it

Oh and if anyone would like me to email them video's of an n/a EG Civic running a K20A VTEC engine absolutely killing an Evo 8 running 22psi or a turbo VTEC Civic smashing an R32 GTR 4 TIMES or a turbo Integra VTi-R killing a worked Dodge Viper then I would be happy to do so. |

Give me a TT FD3S over VTEC anyday...
Anyway.. I'm not saying I'd be able to beat a worked Type R civic or whatever, but it'd be a hell of a lot more fun to drive. (IMO.) and that's all that matters.
(and you can't drift Honda's cars... I know this S200 is the exception.) _________________ Adopted Bishounen: Cloud (FF7) Haru (Fruits Basket.)

How do you know how fun a Honda is?
FD3S RX7's are nice no doubt but a Rotary? Yuk!
There are S2000's in D1 but there is also an EF9 Civic SiR. Yes a Civic! Personally I don't like ass dragging a fwd car so I am not a fan of fwd Drift but most people can't Drift properly anyway so I don't buy a car purely because it can Drift as I don't have the balls or skill to go Drifting on the street.
And trust me revving a little engine to 9000rpm and hearing the roar of VTEC while smoking a turbo car is damn fun

And the result is a 12.3 second pass with a near stock n/a K20A VTEC engine. But Honda's just ain't fun to drive

Near stock? Care to explain now near to stock it is? Actually no point...
http://www.honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1162191
I like the bit about it being unusable as an every day car with 270whp... compared to Skylines, Supras etc which are streetable with 600hp+ in the USA and Japan.
As far as the engine swap is concerned, the fact that the engine is in a body that it wasn't released in means it's not fare to compare it to 'regular' cars at all. There is some insane clubsport car in the UK that uses a completely stock Type-R engine in a lightweight go-kart-esqe frame that is almost a rival to the Ferrari Enzo... I'd hardly say that it's a fare comparison, though.
Nobody is giving real crap to VTEC... everyone knows the NSX is a prime example of Japanese standing up ontop of the mountain and declaring "bite my shiny metal ass, europe". I don't think throwing around claims of "near stock" cars being so good is winning it any friends, though... |

Interesting that you would link to a completely different car in another country and try and tell me that the one I posted is not near stock and streetable. The owner of the one I posted actually drives his car around on the street and takes it on cruises.

Please explain how I was 'wrong'. You never provided any hint of what the car was, except claiming the engine was 'near stock' (ignoring the fact it's in an entirely different car, with racing slicks on). Without any sort of proof of such a fantastical claim I had to do my own research. The fact it was the wrong car (which also happens to have stock internals, showing your car is infact not the best example of VTEC power btw) doesn't mean **** if you don't provide evidence before throwing around insults. Given that your link fails to show what mods the car DOES have, it could very well have a massive pair of turbos hanging off the side, a couple of bottles of NOS, or some sort of hamster providing forced induction to it. US Supras are known to provide 500hp+ on stock internals, so not explaining the other bits makes it a kind of pointless statement.

Videos please (I like car videos, this isn't an insult of any kind.) _________________ Check out my R32 in this thread |

I thought the picture in my post showed exactly what car I was talking about. Are you colour blind? The car that you did research on is a completely different colour. If you had bothered to read the posts in the link you would have noticed that the owner talks about an internally stock engine which means in stupid terms that nothing has been done to the motors insides (get it now?) The engine is sporting only bolt-ons namely and exhaust system and intake manifold. I never said that car was the best example of VTEC but I did prove that small n/a engines have the potential to go very fast which is really what the arguement is all about. All I wanted to do was provide evidence that not all Honda's are riced up pieces of crap and the good ones are very impressive for what they are. Insults? Well I suggest you grow a thicker skin if you want to have arguements about things you neither care about nor understand. 500+hp from an internally stock Supra is very possible. Heck it does have argueably the best six cylinder production engine ever built in it's engine bay as well as two turbo chargers to go with it. If that can't beat a little 2L 4 cylinder engine then you have problems. I am through argueing with you as you are obviously just one of these ignorant "turboz are da best bro" people who don't appreciate that a tiny 4 cylinder engine can be as quick and quicker than their 6 cylinder turbo car that they think rules the road. Enjoy! _________________ Madness is contagious.... |

That might have been funny if you couldn't just take the word Honda and put the word Nissan or Toyota there. Also I am not a turbo hater, I love Drift and I love all Japanese cars but I HATE ignorant little turds that think Honda's are just ricey pieces of crap when they don't know the first thing about them. For an n/a 4 cylinder engine to be able to keep up with a turbo 6 cylinder engine is very impressive and I don't think people give Honda's enough respect or credit. _________________ Madness is contagious.... |

Thats because they're overpriced, parts cost more than pretty much any other brand, are ugly and civics are probably the most 'riced' of any car in existence.
Honda have a bad rap because of Honda owners. You have noone to blame but yourselves really. _________________ 'The secret of lesbian porn is the self-insertion fantasy, the feeling of "You know, the right dick could turn those clam-licking hotties into hot wet sex fiends... and I am that brave dick." Well really the Yanks are to blame for the rep and that pathetic excuse for a movie The Fast And The Furious. As for looks and price well that's your opinion and I accept that. I personally think the DC5 Integra and S2000 are fantastic looking cars and the price may have something to do with the exceptional quality of these cars. Parts I don't think cost more than other brands, if you want quality you have to pay. _________________ Madness is contagious.... |
