|
|
The title of the DVD you have a problem with. Please include the disc name and volume in the subject heading as well.
orphen series 2 collection disk 4
What DVD player makes and models you have tried it on, and which ones have the problem.
pionner dv 535 and my pc dvdrom
The exact point in the DVD the problem occurs. If it is in a menu, let us know which menu. If it is in a video section, give the track/title/time information from your DVD player's display.
As clearly as you can, a description of what happened (and what you thought should have happened, if it is a strange problem).
problem occurs with episode 15 and is the same on both pc dvdrom and dvd player
if you try to chapter jump past the opening credits the playback stops sides on the screen for about 30 seconds on the dvd player then its stops the dvd, on the pc it just locks up the player program.
you get the same results if you let the credits play through to the end.
all other episodes on the dvd play and jump normally |

Does the disc's menu have a scene select feature?
If so does selecting the second chapter of episode 15 from here also play up?
Is the disc scratched? I've seen problems similar to this come from scratched discs. |

OK, Some more cross verification is definitely required on this.
Anyone who hasn't jumped the gun to buy this i suggest waiting a little longer before picking this Orphen 2 box up, and anyone desperate to get one should do so from MM since that's the easiest way to pick up replacement disks later on down the track. |

I can't re-produce the issue with episode 15, so might be a bad disc or a compatibility issue.
I'm using PowerDVD 4.0 with a Pioneer DVD-105S DVD-ROM, under Windows XP. |

I have the same problem as well except on my dvd player it will get to the end of the opening credits and skip to the half way point of the epsidoe. I also could not chapter skip back to the begining of the episoe but could manually rewind it and I discovered that I could rewind back to the 2:06 point of the episode. I tested the disc on 2 dvd players which are a panasonic SA-HT 520 and a Palsonic dvd 2000. I also swaped my disc 4 for another out of a different box from where I bought it and it made no difference as the problem still occured. |

Hmmm, my last post on this thread got pulled.
Funny how they do that.
Anyone wanting the substance of that post should go to advfilms.com and look this title, Orphen's Revenge, up. |

Can someone tell me if this is being looked in to. I want to know if I can get a replacement disc from madman or if i'm going to have to return the box and import it instead. |

This is the episode where Dortin on Volcan fly to the Moon, right? Same thing happens to me as well. It's only about the first 30 second and maybe it misses Volcan yelling at Dortin or something like that. Nothing really important, but the fact is the disc is faulty. And nothing has even been mentioned yet. |

I have to agree with the problem. Stems around a 15-20 second semi freeze. I think it was 1:50-2:20 or there abouts. It was in the opening half minute after the OP finished. I've played it on both my XMS and Teac players with the same problem, though the XMS was slightly better than the Teac which just froze and started after 20 seconds.
The rest of the disc was fine. This was in the english track by the way for ep 15. Don't know about the japanese track. _________________ Motorcycling - You don't need an excuse to ride, but you need an excuse not to ride.

Just to update i have now tried the following with both english and japanese tracks.
Pioneer 344 - crashed player restared dvd
Sony 525 - looped episode opening probably forever
Powerdvd 5 on LG dvd drive - disc stopped playing and froze at this point
Powerdvd 5 on Pioneer Dvdrom - disc stopped playing and froze at this point
Playstation 2 - unable to read disc after OP
Nothing i own will play this dvd at this point.
Is there any word yet? its now been 2 months since it was first reported. I have been patient but.... if nothing is going to happen i want to attempt to return the dvd if i can. |

Our replicators are still getting back to us, but I believe its most likely a glass master problem in the initiail pressing process.
These things do happen and I do apologise for the lack of action. But we will be getting to the bottom of it and issue replacement discs in due time. _________________ Watch FREE Anime Episodes

Thanks Sly. So when they're ready, we'll just send in the dodgy dvd to MM for the replacement. _________________ Motorcycling - You don't need an excuse to ride, but you need an excuse not to ride.

It's been nearly 3 weeks since the person asked here about this. Will this be fixed in time for Supanova or will we have to wait as long as the TF glitch?. _________________ Motorcycling - You don't need an excuse to ride, but you need an excuse not to ride.

Yeh considering that 15-20 seconds are unwatchable and because of this, I can't ebay my boxset due to this. _________________ Motorcycling - You don't need an excuse to ride, but you need an excuse not to ride.

It's been 2 months since the last post about this. Surely something has been done about this by now.
Can Sly or someone at MM confirm current availability of replacement discs?. _________________ Motorcycling - You don't need an excuse to ride, but you need an excuse not to ride.

It's been a very long time since this has been mentioned, so I thought it was long overdue.
If I remember correctly, Sly has said that the problem has been found and should be ready soon. Either him or the other MM staff member. I'd like to know if the replacements are ready or not. _________________ Motorcycling - You don't need an excuse to ride, but you need an excuse not to ride.

It's been 11 months since this problem was brought up. Is the problem fixed so that we can get replacements?. _________________ Motorcycling - You don't need an excuse to ride, but you need an excuse not to ride.

So have the replicators been back with the solution to this yet? Its been a oh so close to a year since i bought this and so far nothing has been said since this statement.
Do we take this to mean that madman would rather ignore the problem and hope we go away? I'm sure this is not the longest wait for a fix but i would think its the longest wait for a fix for a problem that stops you watching the disc. |

I think you got one of the new batches without the problem. When the Orphen Revenge boxset came out, the problems were as above, but Sly hasn't said if we can now get replacements.
In fact, MM hasn't updated their glitch repaired list in a very long time. _________________ Motorcycling - You don't need an excuse to ride, but you need an excuse not to ride.
