Hmm... as again, it's falling roughly around the time of my birthday (Dec 12)... so even if I had money, I'm not entirely sure if there's nothing going on around my end of the country for me which could mean my inability to come... somehow or ther Wai-con has always had a special place within me though I've never been there...

Sorry, my bad.

http://www.wai-con.org

I'm a member, so I got the e-mail myself. This message was also included in a JAFWA weekly bulletin, yes, but I had already read it by that point...

*bump*

I just received an e-mail, and it seems that it's now confirmed to be 10th and 11th of December at Murdoch University. I'll post more news as I receive it, or I'll just edit my first post.

In case you guys haven't visited the site recently, it's been updated with a new design and more content will be up shortly.

black_ops: don't let lack of transport stop you. There's always public transport, even though it may take a little longer.

Actually WAI-Con is cheap for a convention, with entry ranging from $20 to $30 dollars depending on which clubs you're a member of, and when you register to attend.

The prices listed on the postcards are:

Members (of PANIC): $20 pre-reg, $22 on the day
Affiliates (JAFWA, MAD, UWAnimé, etc): $25 pre-reg, $28 on the day
Non-Members: $28 pre-reg, $30 on the day.

I'm not sure when pre-registration starts, but I'll post here when it does.

Hey everyone,

Just letting you know that the volunteers registration is open for WAI-con 2005. If you want to be involved with the Perth anime community or want to help out, please volunteer Smile

Just a question for people who have volunteered in the past for conventions: What made you volunteer? Was it an enjoyable experience? Any problems?

I'm still new to my job so I just wanna know what volunteering was like for other people......Thanks!!

Oh forgot to add that I'm the volunteers coord.....

Woot. Another good con, and a great turnout this year too... pity the only major traders were Empire Toys and Madman. I would have liked to see TAMarket there again Sad

Oh well, now I need to start resting up before GhengisCon. It's tough being a Sci-Fi fan as well as an otaku... Razz

Can anyone who went tell us what new licences (aside from Gravitaion and Kyou Kara Maou) were announced?

I went to the MM panel but I didn't write anything down so I can't remember everything. The stuff that stands out are the licensing of:

-Gravitation
-Kyou Kara Maou
-Gankutsuou
-Lupin movie (Secret of Mamo?)

Sly also mentioned the release dates of the Kaleido Star boxset and first Inu Yasha movie and other stuff which I can't remember. He also said that March 2006 has two release dates (15th and 29th) as April's releases are pushed forward.

Major TV announcements was the airing of Full Metal Alchemist on Cartoon Network and Samurai Champloo on SBS in 2006. Also, SBS apparently got good feedback from Ghost in the Shell TV and therefore are picking up the next 13 eps. Blood the movie is on SBS later this month.

I have a feeling that most of these announcements will be in the december issue of the Madman newsletter
