In several previous posts, I have referred to the secret background information and revelations that is included in the recent NGE2 game from GAINAX. One of the main selling points of the game when it came out was that the series' primary creator, Hideaki Anno, had consented to substantial in-depth interviews with the game designers, in which he revealed the answers to many of the deepest mysteries that have exercised the show's fans for years. This secret info is supposed to be the "straight poop", right from the man himself.
The NGE2 game has not been released in English, so we non-Japanese speakers have had very little access to the secrets contained therein, but I am pleased to report that my colleague Reichu, of the AnimeNation Eva forum, has come across a Japanese site that has a transcription of the NGE2 secret files:

I do not speak or read Japanese, but by utilizing on-line translation bots, such as Amikai, I have been able to take a crack at this stuff. Here is some of what I have come up with so far. I won't pretend to vouch for the accuracy of these translations, rather this is more like a rough guess at the meaning. Anyone that has better knowledge of japanese is more than welcome to take a shot at this stuff himself.

On those occasions where I am frankly reduced to just guessing at the meaning, I have made note of that with "(?)"...

The general-purpose human type decisive battle arms for the games(?) against the Angels which NERV developed. It works by the electric power supply of a cable. It has only by an internal electrical power source only for 5 minutes.

It is something reproduced(?) as a clone based on the First Angel that was discovered in the South Pole in 2000.
It functions like an Angel in a sense. For example, it has an A.T. field, which can be physically manifested. As for the difference between the Eva and an Angel, it has no S2 system nor a soul.

Eva is the receptacle of a soul that has discarded human form,
Expansion of self = it embodies as a big human being. (?)
^ That one defeated me; the sentence is too long for the translation bot to handle all at once, and splitting it up renders the meaning unclear.
When the Eva is operated, it was necessary to insert a soul in the Eva where a soul has not entered. This is called the pilot.
But, Eva does not move only by the pilot. Or the orderly performance cannot be demonstrated.

In order to circumvent the differential between the flesh of Eva (= a god), and the inferior (?) soul of a human being, a unit called a core was used.

Unit-00 is of inferior efficiency, since it's core system is not well made, having had a troubled development. Moreover, Rei, the pilot of Unit-00, has no mother.

^ Again, that one just did not compute. I think it's saying something about how SEELE thought that attaining Godhood was an end in itself, but for Gendo it was a only means to an end.

Although nationality is the United States, by blood she is part German and part Japanese. She graduated from the university in Germany at the age of 14.

| The part of Asukas mother that was her Love for Asuka became with unit 02? Makes a hell of alot of sence. Didn't think that the insane mother would be able to be part of a Contact Experiment. One thing I'd really wanna see is something like this on Unit 03. You know, before it got that cloud spore angel on it. Was it Tojis Mum? his Uncle? I guess thru some weird strange methord, it could of been his sister? I like Sideburns. |

I know I've read these before, I'm sure.
In fact, haven't you yourself even actually posted about the secret eva files (or however they're called) at some point or other?
Unless this is a brand new game, with even more secret eva mysteries revealed, then it has to be the same as the one im thinking.
Although, it does seem to have some extra information that isn't in the other. As well as also, a a lack of some information that is in the other.

Thats the official cover and "Evangelions" is intentional. The entire logo is slightly modified. I'm not sure what the reason is for that but that's what it is. I like that cover a lot. I would really love to get that game. It looks awesome.

In the previous posts that I referred to above, I was quoting a brief summary of some of the more interesting revelations in the game, that was originally posted on GameFAQs. What we have here are the actual 'secret files' from the game. Did any of you people bother to click either link in the first post? If you had, you would realize that I've barely scratched the surface with what I posted so far; there's a whole lot more to go, including revelations concerning the origin of Adam, Lilith, and the Spear of Longinus, what was going on in First, Second, and Third Impact, and what SEELE and Gendo were trying to accomplish. I'll post more as I work my way thru it, so watch this space...

This is straight confirmation that a soul is 'splittable', and capable of existing in two different beings at once. Consider what Shinji sees in Unit-00 in #14:
and that this "bug-eyed Rei"...
...is specifically identified in the Renewal script for #25 as "Rei I".
In light of what is said about Kyoko's soul being partially taken into Unit-02, did something similar happen with Rei and Unit-00? Did a part of Rei's soul, that part that held a grudge against anyone named Akagi, end up in Unit-00?

Actually, yes, I did. Seeing as I can't read Japanese though, and have no real desire to spend all my time translating it I left pretty quickly.

Um, it seems that my pal Reichu, over on AN, has finally got around to doing her own, vastly more competent, version of this very topic:

She is utilizing the help of a native Japanese speaker, so her results are, needless to say, rather more accurate and readable. I recommend that anyone interested in this topic should make a point of following that thread, which will eventually cover the whole original source material.
In light of this, I don't know that there's much point in continuing with my own Engrishy machine-based translations. However, I don't plan on abandoning this thread entirely; I will continue to examine here the implications of the new information as it becomes available.
