Toasted TV can't ruin it, it would be a viable way of getting it screened in Australia.

Im worried about the dub.

Yeah, Australia voice acting would be sweet. It would make it easier to get in as an extra ^_^

I've been wondering about it too...

...Just did a Google search - there's an article on Anime News Network from 8/5/06 saying it'll be released in September. Forum discussion is here.

I never ever read Deltora, it didn't appeal to me. But a friend of mine is a Deltora fanatic. I might check this out and see how it goes. Also is their any word on the studio whose doing the Deltora anime and who the director is?

I love DQ!!!!

How are they going to do it? Series 1 has 8 books:

Forests of Silence
Lake of Tears
City of the Rats
The Shifting Sands
Dread Mountain
Maze of the Beast
Valley of the Lost
Return to Del

They can't make 8 movies just for the first series!

It's a TV series, not a movie, so it'd just spend a few episodes on each book, I guess.

I wonder if it's just the first Quest, or all three?

Hopefully it's the only the first quest, coz IMO it got pretty weak after that.

I bet that it can be improved when they are planning it for animation. They can add a few characters in it, better adventures and more interesting events in the story.

But unfortunately Ms Rodda wouldnt allow anything to be changed.

The story is a bit weak and... i feel that it needs more characters in it ^^;

If they are making a TV series, they will have to have extra adventures.
EG: In DQ1 Book1, they Lief, Barda and Jasmine are walking towards the Dark, the series could show them getting there 2 eps(In DBZ, It took 1 ep just to get 3 senzu beans)

Deltora Quest lacks substance in alot of places. Also i wonder if they'll tell the story of The Rise of Adin from the Tales Of Deltora book since it provides and excellent backstory, maybe they should put it inbetween quest 1 and 2.

They'll probably tell the tale of Jarod and that other guy(haha forgot his name... jarod's friend the king. sorry if i mispelt their names D:!) and then go to present day with Lief.

And yep, they'd probably tell the tale of lord adin by having a character explain it and having scenes from of adin of how he got the belt and stuffs D:

Would Australian voices fit the character better than American voices would? Because if it does get dubbed in Australia, I would definately try to audition! (i like to amateur voice act :3)

A TV series is doable, you have to remember alot of a given book is describing the scene, after all a picture is worth a thousand words:)

I just found out that they have made a Deltora Quest manga

http://bombom.kodansha.co.jp/home/main2/deltora/deltraframe.html

The link is above, if anyone is interested.
(Scroll down, click the second link leads to the character page. Jasmine with green hair.... =| I dont like that)

Lets hope the anime is better than this~

http://www.iwasakishoten.co.jp/cgi-bin/top.cgi?id=/deltora/index.html

Just copy+paste the link above in google and click "Translate this Page" for a page translation, thats if you want to check whats up with the Deltora Quest anime.

edit: i didnt know there were so many deltora quest fanart >< and they all look so adorable (check the iwasaki shoten website posted above)

edit2: from what i've read from various japanese sites, i think the broadcasting date is in 2007(?) but further details of which channel and the date of airing is undecided (if im wrong please correct me).

Hmm, the art style in the manga makes it looks as if it's some childish animation rendition of an action game. :/ I hope the anime has a more serious art style as well.

The official site is up!

There's only one page, but you can see the character designs. I'm not too keen on them from the single picture so far, though...

Would u recommend that i read this series? I never touched it cos it seemed a tad childish, and since i'd already been exposed to Harry Potter.
But in preparation for the anime...should i?

EDIT:
Here's the pic

The animation studio is Oriental Light and Magic. They did Godannar, Pokemon, Utawarerumono..just to name a few (though, i'd never thought that i would put those titles in the same sentence).

That's very mid-90s, innit. Almost Slayers.

(Figure I may aswell jump in) I cant wait for this anime. I liked the novels (I read series 1 and series 2) even though I may have been a bit old for them.
Just a quick question, does anyone know the story line? Will it follow the book series or will it be a stand alone?

I'm pretty sure its folllowing the story featured in the books pretty closely since Emily Rodda would only let an adaption be made of her novel if they didn't change much or anything in it.

Well, the first episode just aired on January 6th, by the way. It looks pretty promising to me... just the sad thing is... I bet there will be a US dub.

and that matters how? Just don't listen to it. That's why there's both languages on the DVD.

Maybe the presence of a dub "contaminates" the enjoyment of the sub or .... something Wink

Mmm....I was wondering about this sort of thing last night...and I might sound stupuid (Because I haven't really looked into the topic) but what's stopping Australia from buying anime liscences from Japan, instead of waiting for America to aquire them? Is it because the anime market over here isn't as big?

Basically that, coupled with the fact that just about everything worthwhile gets picked up in the US and dubbed there, and it's cheaper to buy the rights to someone else's dub than to produce your own.

Well, my friend is in Japan so he watched it when it came out. From someone who hasn't read the book's point of view, he didn't like the CG and said that the anime was like one of those typical RPG type anime.

I've read the books before (<3) and I was really excited to hear that the anime was coming up, but I have to say the CG is a really big turn off. But people said that Emily Rodda only let them make the series because they were the only company that wouldn't change the storylines, so I'll still wait for it to come out on DVD and buy it.

There's a CG opening in the first episode... i thought it was pretty sweet actually. a little too reminiscent of the Lord of the Rings opening for my comfort, but oh well. the beasts are CG too but I haven't seen them yet. so yes, not too much CG AiKaGi, it's primarily traditional animation

It's based on the eight books from the first Deltora Quest series. The books each end with the group finding one of the gems. The end of episode three is the end of book one. I figure this is so we get some quick payoff as the series starts.
