FULLMETAL ALCHEMIST VOLUME 8: THE ALTAR OF STONE

SYNOPSIS:
As the Elric brothers are leaving Yock Island, a strange boy emerges from the foliage, with no memory of how he arrived. Inexplicably, he can perform alchemy without a transmutation circle. Even stranger, he can transmute his own body, merging with his surroundings! Meanwhile, the search for Scar gets a forward leap as a former military officer spots him in the southern slums.
Elsewhere, the amoral Lt. Colonel Archer makes his move for the mysterious wild boy, who he believes is a homunculus conspirator. Infuriated by the arrest, Izumi leaps into action, single-handedly attacking the military with her staggering alchemic power.

Includes the following episodes:
29. The Untainted Child
30. Assault on South Headquarters
31. Sin
32. Dante of the Deep Forest

Release date: June 21st, 2006

"Look out State Military, here comes Izumi!"

She hates them with a passion in the manga if I recall correctly. She throttled Ed the moment she saw him just because he joined the military.

Thanks for putting this up - I should have done it myself by now, but I've been really busy the last few days and haven't had a chance to visit the board! ^_^;

I've stickied it and added the episode listing.

You could always try my solution. Buy something else to watch in the meantime. I've been catching up on my M*A*S*H boxsets and re-watching my old DVD's. Not that I've had the time or inclinations lately to do anything much at all what with work and earaches and such Mad I'd re-watch my FMA DVD's one ep at a time (again) but my cousin still has them.

The trick is to keep yourself busy enough that you're not constantly thinking about it, then it's only mild torture. Rolling Eyes

If it's one thing I DON'T miss about education...*shudders* actually...the only thing I do miss is the severe lack of responibility and seeing my mates on a regular basis. Mind you, I'm still at school, though now I just clean it Razz

Not looking forward to tests and exams at Uni though. Still have yet to figure out how the hell you go about an adult entry in these parts Confused Ah well. Got the rest of the year to figure that one out.

I can't wait for the new DVD. More Izumi. More fun Twisted Evil

well, since the whole series isn't out yet, and there's usually a one year wait between the entire series being released before a box set, i would say, a long time mate
when did we decide the last voolume comes out? was it Feb07?

Its more likely that there will be 3 seperate boxes. Each box containing the dvds of its tin cnter part. If thats so then box 1 should be out inbetween August 06 - December 06.

but why order from madman's site when they charge rrp.
What you should do is preorder from somewhere like Ezydvd. Sure they release their stuff 2 days later sometimes, but not only is it cheaper, your pre order is free postage.

More like they ship ALL their stuff two days after the release date!

If you pre-order from their Website you can get it posted out to you. I just go into the post-office and pick it up with the rest of our mail. I haven't seen anything bigger than Port Pirie for nearly a year now.

I hear you on casual work, but it's actually more cost-effective to get it posted out by ordering offline from a website like EzyDVD for me. And if I wait long enough they have specials and I can save a little more cash.
I did an order last week and decided to get Mezzo Forte, Mezzo DSA, Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust (which is currently on special) and Madmax 2/3 in a double pack (for $20, it'd've costed me $60 to get them separately). Costed me $132, including the money-order fee ($3) and the 50 cents I needed to post the order. I'm not including petrol in that because I have to go into town to get to work every day the post office is open anyway so it doesn't make a great deal of difference. BUT it's FAR cheaper doing it that way than trying to buy from K-Fart or any other stores being that the post office is only 15 minutes away and everything else is AT LEAST 45 mins, like you. (Except driving your own car is slightly more expensive than a train ride last time I checked)

Plus, from what I hear EzyDVD seems more reliable than EB. Just a pity they don't sell CY manga. *keeps dreaming* But what I like about EzyDVD the most is that I can order from their site offline by pringtin off an order form from the site. As Madmangohan mentioned pre-orders from EzyDVD are free of postage but so are orders of two (? might be three) items or more. (Just remember to put "ship as one package" on the order form somewhere if you do decide to try them out).

At the very least, give them a try. It's the only way to decide for yourself in the end. I was getting my FMA from a shop in Clare but as I don't work over there anymore there's no point in getting them to get in the DVD's because it's damned expensive DVD to make a 1.5+hour trip for!

EzyDVD are good, but if you ever make the move to ordering online, i suggest www.fbo.com.au , cheaper then RRP slightly. Shipping for pre orders is free, and they ship as soon as it comes in (sometimes a day early which is always a nice bonus)

Oh, and the free shipping is only standard pacel post. Anything like express will cost you.

I got up early, 11:00 (for me) a wen't to EB and i got my hands on V8, though i couldn't watch it til late last night.

A pretty good volume overall
the whole gate scenario really had me going and seeing those damn smilling faces form the inside really gave me the willies and finding out why Ed is such a great Alchemist was pretty cool.
I wasn't overly impressed at Izumi though and he desire to protect Wrath. Finding out that the Hommoculi keep getting remade into the sin over and over was some interesting material aswell

August can't come soon enough Crying or Very sad

Found it but sadly didn't have enough for it....although I have seen it before and I agree on the most part with Balsnac.
The part that was REALLY wierd was
Finding out about what had happened to Ed's arm and leg...that was creepy.
It was also nice to finally find out why Ed could use alchemy without a transmutation circle, as well as filling out the gaps in the story of the night the boys tried to bring back Trisha

Well at first the whole gate that can grant infinite knowledge for the right price wasn't working for me but i guess i've gotten use to it, though i would have prefered Ed find out how to use alchemy without a circle instead of having the knowledge forced ibnto his head. Though the Gate does leave roo for alot of good material later on, we'll i assume atleast

I've only just placed my order for Volume 8. Had to wait while I sorted other things. That, and I've been too busy to do so.

I'm betting that, while some haven't watched it on the actual dvd, many of us (myself included) have seen volume 8 and beyond through tv, or...other ways...

Oh, and welcome to the boards!

just finished watching the volume half an hour ago.
Not a bad bunch of eps I must say. Didn't move the story on much, but provided a bit of unknown information about some of the characters.

Shame I gotta wait ages again for the next volume ><

The eps do drag a bit, but i disagree when you say they don't carry the story much.
The stuff about the gate is very important for the last few episodes

I don't think these episodes dragged. I thought the pacing was quite good. If any thing, they shone new light on what we already knew, or at least what we thought we knew.

I kind of guessed there was something up with Izumi and the kid on Yock Island, but to go through life without organs below the lungs. That's one hell of a price, and one that should've killed her quickly. I guess the effects of Dante's medicine make it possible, but realistically, she should be dead. Yet, it further adds to the horrorific consequences that come with human transmutation.
And if Dante is the one who created Greed, then what price did she have to pay? I assume she's the old lady who created Greed. There was mention of an old lady, and Greed just happened to pop up at the house only to run into the Elrics by chance. Maybe I'm guessing wrong. After all, that whole Gate thing has added a whole new dimension to everything.
Like I said, maybe I'm guessing wrong...

...or maybe my brain has finally turned to mush from working 16 straight days, some of which were more than 10 hours long, and counting. The latter seems more likely.

The stuff you're asking about Greed...I may be confused, but I think they do describe that (or it might have been Envy, or the creation of The Stone) can't remember

Also neglected to mention I picked up this volume last week

I don't recall having a problem with that. The problem I have is with the next episode preview at the end of episode 31 (ie the preview for episode 32). When watching the Japanese text angle, the footage is the footage for preview for episode 31. I can only view the footage for the preview for episode 32 by watching the alternate (English text) angle.

I did have my video stutter once or twice when the ending theme came on, but it didn't do it again after rewinding and playing it again.

Laughing Great googly moogly! The second one was hilarious! Oh man. And the one about Ed's preference for older women was great as well.

BTW... it's on the extras page, and that's all I'm saying...
