Ouchu, so like 40something dvds for the series ^^; I'll pick it up anyway, if it's good enough for Asham than it's good enough for me Razz

im really hooked to this series its so good...ive first seen it back when i was staying with my auntie in the US last year although they were airing it at like 2.30 in the morning in the cartoon network adult swim segment...its really good...

although 40 something dvds is bad for my pocket...im still gonna go ahead with collecting this...when i have some money available...might go check out jb hifi soon to see if their selling it cheaper....it would at least save me some moeny on the retail price and the $4 shipping (yes im a bit of a cheapo but i cant help it...)

35 volumes eh? If my math serves me, episode counts should be something like this:

8 x 4 [32] + 27 x 5 [135] = 167.

Another thing that has me confused is the breaking up of seasons. As far as I know, season one is 27 episodes. If volumes 1 - 5 cover up to episode 20, how are the next seven episodes going to be spread?

Ideally, volumes 4 - 6 would be 5 episodes each, bringing the total to 27 eps over six discs [4, 4, 4, 5, 5, 5].

season 1 will be 7 discs.

If that's the case, then there's no avoiding a volume with only three episodes on it. I was under the impression that the episode count would be pushed up to cover season breaks, not down. Sad

Speaking of seasons, will season two covers use a different main background colour to differentiate it from season one? I believe the US release does this and I think MM should do something similar.

Are there going to be any boxes to go with the dvds later? Like a box with disc seven to hold all of season one, then another around disc 14 or whatever for season two. Maybe you could have a "design a box" competition" and get people to vote for the one they want.(ok so the logistics of that could be a bit crazy but my dvds feel happier sitting snugly in a box.)
Also, I noticed that volumes 4 and 5 are coming out in consecutive months. Is this going to continue for the whole series (ie dvd each month) or is it going to switch to one dvd every two months later on (when we catch up to the US releases or something?)At the moment, its still going to take about two and a half years for the whole series to be released, but if it swithes, it could take over four years.

There won't be any boxes with first/last volumes of a season, though once a season box set comes out, then you could always buy an empty box.

As for the release schedule, I'm guessing Madman will stick with monthly until they are close to catching up with the US release - but that wouldn't be until something like late next year anyway.

As explained before, there will be a box eventually when season boxsets come out. But that's not for a long time to come yet.

We've got alot to catch up with, so at the moment it's a steady 1 volume per month release.

ummm... one small problem
the anime hasn't finished the story, and in fact the manga which its based on is still running, and as a guess has about 100 episodes to go...
so you might be waiting for a while, but... its worth it Wink

As previously mentioned, they are 167 episodes and 4 movies. The movies are not based off the manga nor are they written by Rumiko Takahashi.
Although never appearing in the manga timeline, they do fit in with the anime timeline as opposed to the Dragonball movies.

Inu Yasha Movie 1: "Toki wo Koeru Omoi" takes place sometime after Episode 54, after Inu Yasha has mastred the "Bakuryuuha" technique.

Inu Yasha Movie 2: "Kagami no naka no Mugenjou" is based roughly around episode 95-100

Inu Yasha Movie 3: "Tenka Hadou no ken" is based around the same time as episodes 130-135

and finally

Inu Yasha Movie 4: "Gouren no Houraijima" is based some time after episode 167.

There you are Schmavid, I hope that helps you out ^_^

I thought the dvds would just keep going until the end. that'll save us from having different size boxes for the same series. easier to stack then. ^_^

So are the boxsets coming out after the entire anime release or just a little while after that particular season has been completed?
