According to ANN 4Kids has stopped dubbing One Piece and will not release any more episodes after 104 (what they have dubbed up to). 78 episodes have aired in the U.S. Source: http://forums.toonzone.net/showthread.php?t=179749 Scroll down to the e-mail.

If the another company pick up on this title I might actually enjoy it. Better voice actors and that. I thought that they would have finished dubbing it because there were not a lot more episodes to go. I think this has given the series a future.

Toei is a Japanese company. They would need to give America rights before Madman wouldn't they? I don't think an uncut version of one piece been released in America yet? Anyway I could be wrong.

I know Toei is a Japanese company...

MM have to license the show off of them first, and then they get the dub (and sometimes extras) off of the American licensor...

@Sloppy damm i guessed wrong, but the actor who plays River is the actor who plays Ari whatever his name is! I knew he looked familiar.

I always thought Madman only needed to license the American version and didnĎt need to get permission from the original Japanese company because they actually get it from America. I guess I was wrong.

My avatar = Jeremy Piven

River Pierce = Steve Belford

There's around a 20 year age gap between the two.

The uncut versions are meant to be way better than the edited versions, just like DBZ and Naruto. I will give it another chance if I can get can a hold of the uncut versions.

I'm pretty sure they are stopping since they got to a point in the series where all the cuts they would have to make (no blood, no smoking, no guns) would actually destroy the story and they wouldn't be able to remake it, since in the later episodes it gets more intense and less kiddy-friendly (I'm talking about the Japanese version).

The Japanese version is my favourite anime of all time. It truly is magnificent. You grow to love the characters and the emotion that the series produces is fantastic.

I don't think that would've stopped them from mangling it anyways - it IS 4!Kids.

The first one piece DVD is $4 at my local EB games, I still didn't get it, that goes to show how much I despise the edited version.

I semi-liked the edited version at first then it started to get annoying...

Today I tried watching the ep that was on but it annoyed me so...

I don't think I'd pay $4 for it either - unless somebody bought it for me, but then I'd probably watch it once and never watch it again...

The best thing about watching yesterday and todays episode is that it makes me want the uncut version more =P

Especially that bit with the different types of "power categories"...

This is a very good thing. They screwed up the first few arcs bad enough.

Just think of the Water 7 arc! Enies Lobby! Oh god, the horror, the horror.

"Robin didn't shoot Iceburg, she just gave him a nasty cold." *shudders*

4Kids never should of edited out anything. Just put this disclaimer at the front.

"One Piece Golden Rule: No one important dies unless it was in a flashback."

Also, easiest way to get Uncut One Piece without using, illegal methods, would be to import the R2 DVDs, then either locate a subtitle file and then remaster the DVDs.

Hey didn't Pell actually die in the manga....but in the anime they show he's back and walking away still recovering from he's wounds.

Pell the bodyguard of Vivi who turns into a hawk and flew the bomb away to save Alaberta...(Think that's the name of Vivi's town)

One thing I notice TOO is that Zolo AWAYS GETS LOST...I only just realise this but he has no sense of direction.

I just read some of the first chapters of the Buggy the clown arc in the manga when Zolo just joins Luffy as he's first crew mate that Luffy laughs at Zolo because he couldn't find he's way back home when he was doing pirate hunting duty.
This is where you learn that Zolo has no sense of direction.

SO he's solution was to fight Pirates close to home so he wouldn't get lost.

In the alabasta arc when looking for the bomb Zolo was OUTSIDE the city WHAT THE?
Then the navy showed him the way back when he saw Usopps signal.

The navy joked that Zolo had no sense of direction of Up or Down or left or right.

Dubious, by which I mean "clearly not actually legal". The script is covered by copyright same as all the other components, so it can't be distributed or copied without permission, and the same applies to derivative works, like a translation of the script.

A little extreme but I like the sound of it. J/k but seriously the dub is really bad and if some one gave it to me as a present I probably make that person aware that this version of OP is quiet inferior to the original and go on a mission to brainwash them into loving the un-edited version.

I was chatting to one of my friends about this topic a few weeks ago; his argument was that no one will pick up the show due to its ridiculous length and no end in sight. I still hold hope that some one will pick up the license and release the un-edited DVDís but yeah 300+ episodes and still going in Japan is probably going to the big ask for any company to pick up.

Good point, but that said thatís the only good thing about Naruto. Any way in a way edited one piece did fail in the west, unlike Naruto which had a huge following in the west before the release of the R1 DVDís. The other problem with OP now is due to the edited version in most peopleís eyes the show will be for kids.

I am sick of my friends going o I saw an episode of OP on Ten this morning itís horrible, which leads to my rebuttal of thatís not OP you jerks itís a horrible edited version.

So the word of mouth out there is that OP is a kids show with horrible dubbing, horrible sound effects and a really unsatisfactory intro song. I think that is going to hurt OPís chances of getting picked up and released in its full and glorious un-edited version.

heh, thank god for 4kids grip of tyranny being released. Honestly, I'd be happy to see an uncut version with Japanese dub and english subs. A new english dub would be alrite as well, but honestly, I think the Japanese version is hilarious, and has a great voice cast.

Yeah I agree, the Japanese voice casting really is superb.

The currant English dub is horrible Luffyís voice is ok as well as Choppers and Zoros but thatís where it stops. Robin sounds like she just came from a ho-down in Texas, Sanji sounds like he is mentally retarded, Usop I donít even have a comet for as his voice is so bad I feel sorry for the voice actor and I prey that he has a quick and painless death. Nami sound like a guy. Besides the horrible voices 90% of the actors sound like they are reading from a script with little to no emotions or passion in their voice acting. To me the whole dub sounds like o **** we are underpaid actors who are doing this to scrape by until we find a really acting job, and that pisses me off.

Usopp's also suits him...

Nami's is fine, but Usopp can suck it. Not so much for the voice itself, but those Professor Frink-esque noises he makes. Then again, he was annoying to begin with.

I've gotta say that I could deal with the dub if the script wasn't aimed at prepubescents, but I guess thats the only realistic way of marketing it in the west.

In otherwords were at a stand still,We have no clue whats happening atm nobody seems intrested in picking up one peice.

If it is picked up ithink it will be a fight beetween Ocean & funimation.Ocean studios did a great job of gundam seed, but im not so shure about them picking up somthing like one peice.

The other problem is if ocean or funimation do pick up OP, will they start releasing it form ep 1 or will they pull a DBZ on us and start releasing uncut eps form where ever 4kids finished off the series.

I hope they do uncut from ep1, but then again there are a lot of people who have bought the edited DVDís already.

Personal I donít think that we are ever going to see uncut OP in the west, but I still hold hope deep down that it dose see the light of day.
