I'm already forking out enough on the R1's so I will give the R4's a miss. Because I don't think it will come with something that I didn't get with the R1. Plus with collecting the Limited Edition of the Series I will have 2 copies of the series by the end, why get a 3rd copy??

The details that you are waiting for is here! I will repost this as a news item when it is 100% confirmed. These are subject to change but so far we plan to include for the Australian/NZ release of Haruhi:

Volumes 1-4 in Home Video/Chronological order just like US/JPN DVD release. These will be the DVD versions with the cleaned up animation etc. All volumes will have a reversible alternate cover featuring the JPN LE DVD art

Volume 1 ULTRA SUPER LIMITED EDITION will include
Volume 1 (duh)
"Dan Cho" Leader Arm Band
REDEMPTION VOUCHER! <- This is important as it is only going to be included in the V1 LIMITED EDITION BOX only. You will need to collect this and the 3 other vouchers (one in each volume) to redeem a special double DVD set that will contain the entire series in broadcast order.

So to make this clear again. To get a 5th volume double DVD set featuring the entire series in broadcast order (there's a space for it in the box by the way) you will need the vouchers from:
V1 and box
V2
V3
V4

Volume 1 stand alone DOES NOT CONTAIN ANY VOUCHERS!

Once you have all the vouchers you will have a window of 2-3 months to send it in to redeem the DVD. Once the offer period has expired, we will not be accepting the redemptions!

We may also have more in store for the V1 and box, so stay tuned. It's all pending approval from our licensor at the moment, but we will let you all know once we can release information!

Just a couple of questions;

1) Will this be in a standard artbox or will it be in a tin or other special packaging (like the R1s)?
2) Will the price be the same be the same as every other Vol1+Box?

I'm thinking I might have to break my rule of not buying series individually (last time I did that was with Scrapped Princess last year) for this title...

I may be as well. Either that or just sell the R1 stuff that i have and just keep the R4s. Nevertheless, it's good news, especially seeing the local releases have more swag ^^

But two DVDs for the broadcast order(i'm guessing this will also be Japanese dialogue + subs only?), hope there aren't any issues with the encode although Fruits Basket had like 6 eps per disc with extras and there didn't seem to be any major issues so it should turn out fine.

And just to clarify about the double DVD set, will there be any costs on our part for it (excluding postage)?

PS. please bring the CDs here too Wink

That;s pretty good. I'll probably get this. I just wish something like this was done for Fate/Stay Night though. All the shops I've been to online and around town seem to have the box sold out so it must be selling pretty well. Anyway great news to hear about the voucher redemption thing. I hope to see Madman do it more.

I just put my foot in my mouth didn't I. Razz Well that release is pretty good, but I'm fine enough with the R1's. It's awesome that everyone getting the R4's will get a pretty awesome release too.

well I got a few questions
if people decide to wait intill the series comes out as a 1 big box release will they get the broadcast order DVD's as well or will there box always have a gap in it?

also are you guys going to do what the R1 guys are doing and include the sound tracks cd's as well?

is the first DVD the only one to get extra items?

From the looks of it I will finish off my R1 specal Ed's and mostliky get the R4 ver too

Given, if you wait for the box set you wont be buying vol.1+box so you wont have the redemption coupon. So no, if you wait you will not get the broadcast order dvd with the final complete boxset from what Sly has said.

interesting....
i'm assuming there'll be a different box for the "Complete Collection" or maybe they'll just go straight to Fatpacks for this one (This would make sense, since Sly mentioned that the "Volume 1 and Box" would be "LIMITED EDITION BOX")

*Uni waits anxiously for september*

they wouldnt go straight to fatpack as they'd still have the individuals lying around in warehouse, so they'd be put into a standard boxset. Much like ROD TV and the bookbox, as that was limited, once collection came around it was a standard artbox

I'm guessing something similar to what they did with LastEXILE. So the collector's edition will have different artwork to the Ltd Ed...

Possibly the best news of my week, I love the idea of the redemption to get the broadcast order DVD.
Keeps me happy with being able to view in either order with the minimum fuss

Well its good this way because it means that those who usually wait for the Perfect Collection will miss out on something. And those who usually pay the extra to get it as its coming out get a bonus.

How does Madman's V1 LIMITED EDITION BOX rate against the US box? [Talking about the box itself; art, compartments etc.]

Volume 2 SE image can be seen here.
They come in flimsy boxes just to hold the extras and stuff. There's an ASOS Brigade video showing the Volume 2 SE box.

I'm referring to how it looks in the video, if the parts where you open the box is anything to go by(www.asosbrigade.com/invasion). You still might beg to differ after seeing it but there are others who are describing it that way(IIRC someone was comparing the box to another R1 release). At least it looks flimsy/thin compared to a collector's box to store all DVDs of a series.

I'll probably pre-order from the Madman website rather than go through JB Hi-Fi for it. All the JB stores around me are run by retards who can't get anything right.

From ANN:

Quote:
Second Haruhi Season to be Announced
Posters on the Japanese 2ch board report that the August issue (officially on sale July 10) of Japan's Newtype magazine has revealed the second season of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. The reported coverage of the magazine indicates that the science fiction comedy anime's continuation will be announced on July 7 (07/07/07).

BTW, it seems like the OP sequence for both R1s and R2s had video problems due to MPEG2 and bitrate limitations. A post on animeondvd.com suggests that it's more apparent for the broadcast order disc since it's 5 eps per disc. Anyone know anything about all of this?Does anyone here happen to have the R2s?

Edit: nvm, someone posted comparison shots here There are also some bitrate figures here. Perhaps Madman should take note of these issues for the R4 release. Also since it looks like the broadcast order disc was put on a DVD-5 (3 total), the R4 double DVD set will probably similar quality or even better if Madman uses 2 DVD-9s (= 4 DVD-5s) and decide to use most of the capacity available which allows for a higher bitrate.

I think there's a live feed of the second season announcement here. School reminds of the one in Haruhi. Girl (Aya Hirano?) has headband/ribbon thing and they're messing with the ground like an alien came or something. This is the other site besides www.haruhi.tv that is supposed to be updated with the news which was suppose to occur at 9pm JST.

Edit: wait it's not live as if you leave the site, video begins from beginning. Looks like it wasn't the announcement but two people acting out a scene in the Haruhi novels that occurs on this day and month (ie. tanabata).

Why have EzyDVD put it up before Madman? Confused and do they give out vouchers too?

They seem to be offering it a few cents cheaper than Madman, too. Any idea why?

Just finished watching Volume 2. The show makes alot more sense watching it in chronological order. Also the box although less sturdy than normal boxes it isn't what i would call flimsy. I now keep DVD and CD in the Vol1 box and all the extra crap (headband/armband) in that box.
