Read a little further into my "hyperlink thingie" and you'll find this sentence:

Quote:

P.S. I forgot to say in my original post that Eastern Eye will release the two live action Death Note films.

Thanks, Klown! BTW, this site defines the phrase thusly:

Quote:
Ripper/Little ripper - good (said to someone who has done something good)

So thank you for giving me the impetus to look that up for myself, which I should have done in the first place. Wink

Yes, yes and YES!

If MM could release Ranma and Inuyasha, I'm sure MI should deserve a local release as well.

He's not the only one.

I was really shattered at the MM Panel at AVCon 2007 today I asked the MM guy (I forgot his name) if there was any plans for them to release MI and he said 'No'. Nonetheless,I'm going to keep on suggesting it to them for as long as it takes for them release it here.

Dear Madman.

Bandai Entertainment has picked up Code Geass with plans for a US TV airing in the year 2008.... pick it up! PICK IT UP! PICK IT UP!

On second thought, you don't need to hear that. Code Geass was practically eaten up by fansub watchers, you guys at Madman picking it up is a given.

Damn! I was going to go to that! Anything interesting come up?

(Turns out I stayed in Bragg and watched Gokusen. That was actually quite funny but...)

The MM guy (again,I forget his name) announced a few new acquisitions, and a Special Edition for Tales of Earthsea.

I forgot the name of the anime they announced, but it's about a ghost-hunter.

I also asked him whether or not they were planning to release Detective Conan/Case Closed locally on dvd. But again the answer was 'No'. Sad [/b]

Firstly I would like to thanks the Madman team for securing many of the title that I loved many years ago

The titles that are still to come out of a "retro" nature are as follows
Geno cyber
Tank Police (there is a new one coming out soon with similar graphics style to the new Apple seed)
The original Tenchi Muyo

I'm sure there is plenty more but I’ve just got back into posting so I’ll have to list some others later

I'm not sure about the license status for most of these ones.

Code Geass
Genshiken
Karin
Ai Yori Aoshi
Ouran High School host Club
Maison Ikkoku
Urusei Yatsura
Yakitate!! Japan
REC
Aishiteruze Baby
Shuffle!
Sumomo mo momo mo

These are still airing in Japan so I'm pretty sure they're not licensed yet but they need picking up when they are!

Lucky Star
Romeo x Juliet
Lovely Complex
Hayate no Gotoku (Hayate the Combat Butler)

Not the version I have - I have an old one actually release by Pioneer.
I'm personally like both version but they both take slightly different approaches to the introduction of the Characters

I suspect you may be confused as to what is the `original'. Madman has Tenchi Muyou! Ryoouki, which was the original Tenchi Muyou! series.

Now that Funimation has the license, I can't see MM not getting it since it looks and sounds pretty cool by the images and story in July's NTUSA.

Welcome to the NHK

I know it hasnt been released yet, but seeing as that it is looking like another anime in the vein of Texhnolyze and Lain, does anyone see a chance that we will have it released here? I would love to see more anime for the thinkers ^.^

It's posible since MM and ADV do have good relations between them.

I don't know what kind of criteria is put on Madman releases, but I noticed the company's releases have expanded considerably over the past few years.

The Limey is a fantastic 1999 film directed by Stephen Soderbergh (Ocean's 11-13) that some might be familiar with having seen it a few nights ago on Network Seven.

For whatever reason it has, as far as I know, never been released on DVD in Region 4. It's a movie I'd love to own without having to import, so I thought I'd take advantage of the suggestion forum.

I wonder if there might be other posters likewise interested.

Cheers!

This is one of the most funniest show i have seen. For those who don't know what densha otoko is here's some info. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Densha_otoko

Madman should get the rights and release all 13 episodes including the 2 specials (another ending and the 2 hr special)

OST Suggestion:

Kaleido Star - the CDs that only came with the special edition R2 DVD sets. As these haven't been seen outside Japan you'd probably make a killing if you can release them for international markets:
- Omatase! Sugoi
- Matamata! Sugoi
- Arata Naru Sugoi
- Tenshi no Sugoi

Can't commenton the anime (already so far behind catching up with what's already out), but two which would be good (one of which MM has rights to, other not sure but should acquire if not!)

Samurai Jack (the series)

Invader Zim

Yeah, and MM does have the license for the Samurai Jack series down here, and it has been announced as coming ... just no idea when. For some reason they are releasing the movie later in the year, but that's been out for years already and is just the first extended episode anyway.

Invader Zim would be awesome but not sure if MM has/can get the rights for that one. Saw has been fully released in the US, so now just hoping MM can pick it up (especially considering it has a fairly wide cult following despite being canned after only a couple of seasons)
