i saw it yesterday and enjoyed it too.
i don't know a lot about samurai but it seems to cling closer to a 'realistic' portrayal

Went to the preview screening of this at Nova a while back... what a brilliant film! The lack of samurai action in comparison with the title was disappointing but the film is so well made and the acting such class that it was easy to forgive. An engrossing and sometimes tragic portrayal of the honour code and mindset of a lowly samurai. This and Zatoichi are by far the best Jidai Geki films since Kurosawa and the Lone Wolf series. Props all round.

Will EE be doing the DVD for this eventually?

Will this have any of the extras from the 2 disc Japanese release and/or DTS?

I'm trying to decide whether it's worth waiting.

Thanks

My vote goes to EE doing a 2 disc set with cardboard slip packaging (here's hoping) Smile

Twilight Samurai, the title describes also then end of the Samurai period in Japan. Where there was little very work for them and Japan was embracing the industrial revolution. But in their golden age they had a far higher status. Also note he was only a 40 Goku Samurai.

Firstly thanks for changing the release from a rental to a retail window, lovely.

Will it have DTS and any of the 4 hours worth of extras on the Japanese DVD though? It's out next month surely it's now known.

Can we get EE releases for the second and third installments of Yomada's samurai trilogy - THE HIDDEN BLADE and LOVE AND HONOR?

I'm sure they'd be very well received after the reputation of THE TWILIGHT SAMURAI...
