just a little twist from the highly successful anime version created by
SINNER
this is what i've read so far
Bleach up to ch 281 (awesome, but too many fights atm)
Blood: The Last Vampire complete (pretty bad imho, inconsistent with the movie, avoid if possible)
Death Note (including prequel) complete (it was good, but got tedious during the businessman arc and never recovered)
Elfen Lied up to ch 38 (sweet, nice to read after seeing the anime to see the differences, there are quite a few)
Fullmetal Alchemist up to ch 71 (again, good to read after the anime considering it's completely different, and imo, superior to the excellent anime)
Ghost in the Shell up to ch 2 (it's alright, haven't read enough atm though)
after i finish Elfen Lied (at least of what's been released) i'm gonna look at finishing GitS then I might start Ranma 1/2, i love Inuyasha (anime, will start the manga when i've seen the whole series) so i expect only great things from it
so what are you reading right now? |

I tend to start a series then stop because I decide I like it and intend to buy it but I never get around to doing it or spend the money on something else
Yesterday, I read the first two chapters of Black Cat and found myself enjoying it more than I did the first time.
I'm thinking I should really continue getting more of the series and picking up the tangible versions whenever I can. At least I'll get to read the darn things _________________ digtrioPortable - Twitter |

I sort of went on a binge as of late and have got a whole heap new chapters and read some older ones...
[Note: The numbers refer to chapters, not volumes]
Black Cat 1-5 -- I'm enjoying this more than the first time I'll get some more
Digimon D-Cyber 1 -- Pretty bad all 'round really... Not going to continue
[b]Digimon Next 1 -- Far better but I'll get the next chapter and see if I should continue or not.
Dragon Quest: Emblem of Roto 1 -- Average. Not going to continue.
Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai 1 -- Okay, getting another chapter to see how it pans out.
El Hazard 1 -- Not the biggest fan of the anime and this is an adaptation but I'll give it one more chapter...
Elemental Gelade 1 -- The crappy translation is annoying but I think I'll continue...
Evangelion: Ikari Shinji Ikusei Keikaku 1 -- Decent, nothing groundbreaking but enjoyable. Getting another chapter to see where it's headed.
Evangelion: Iron Maiden 2nd [Girlfriend of Steel 2/Angelic Days] 1 -- I remember reading a chapter of this in Newtype USA and never really got into it so I won't bother getting more.
Fate/Stay Night: Comic Battle 1 -- Decent enough I guess. I haven't seen the anime and it doesn't explain any backstory (it's sort of in the middle of the series it would seem) but I'll continue anyways.
Galaxy Angel 1 -- A fun romp, will definitely be continuing.
Genshiken 1 -- Also good fun.
.hack4koma 1-5 -- Great fun, some strips are hilarious - especially the ones involving Kite and Haseo. Some of the jokes go over my head, having never played the games, but it's still enjoyable. Currently have all that's been translated.
.hack//GnU 1 -- Crappy artwork, but it's a story I've wanted done in the .hack universe so I'll be continuing once more is translated.
.hack//XXXX 1-3 -- Quite good, a little disjointed though. Never having played the games I'm hoping this series can fill in the gaps for me.
Tales of the Abyss 1 -- Really good, got some great artwork as well.
All of those I'm continuing unless otherwise stated. I'm also continuing other series again as well.
Yes, I went overboard - so sue me

just read volume 5 of Elfen Lied so that's chapter's 39-48, i must say i'm still enjoying it, it's also ALOT 'weirder' than the anime rofl, there's been lots of differences between the 2 versions until now but it looks to be taking those differences a little further with a new character and events happening in different locations, looking forward for more |

Full Metal Panic! 1 -- fairly good, nothing grand but it's alright.
Death Note 1-10 -- started re-reading this and it's just as awesome as the first time.
I have a big backlog of chapters to read now so... _________________ digtrioPortable - Twitter |

Well, after my little manga binge last week I've spent a fair bit of time reading manga, to be honest. Titles I've either skimmed through (IE several volumes) or read entirely are:
Fullmetal Alchemist (Recently purchased/read volumes 10 and 11, now waiting on release of chapter 73)
Fruits Basket (Recently purchased/read volume 21)
Death Note (Recently purchased/read volume 12)
Midori Days (Recently purchased/read volume 1)
Trinity Blood (Recently purchased/read volume 1)
Yu-Gi-Oh! Duelist (Recently purchased/read volumes 20,21 and 22)
Naruto (Recently purchased/read volume 14) _________________ The Doctor: A straight line may be the shortest distance between two points, but it is by no means the most interesting.

Basilisk 1 -- Average, the anime is better. Not continuing.
Claymore 1 -- Interesting enough I guess, sorta Berserk with women. Continuing.
Fire Emblem 1 -- The Shoujo artwork irritated me greatly as I'm used to seeing Fire Emblem done in that awesome shounen style. Not continuing.
.hack//GU 1 -- Average. Continuing.
Hayate the Combat Butler 1 -- Everybody says this is good so I thought I'd give it a go and didn't really enjoy it that much. Continuing at a later date.
Hikaru no Go 1 -- Okay, nothing great. Continuing.
M.A.R. 1 -- Generic fantasy but it was okay. Continuing.
Mai-HiME 1 -- Bad. Not continuing.
Mythical Detective Loki Ragnarok 1 Decent enough. Continuing at a later date.
Ragnarok 1 -- Not too bad. Continuing.
Rave Master 1 -- Fairly fun, even if it's generic shounen fantasy. The artwork reminds me A LOT of One Piece's. Continuing.
Death Note 11-25 -- This series has become my favourite series now. Some awesome plot development in there. Continuing. _________________ digtrioPortable - Twitter |

I have since read up to chapter 283 for Bleach, this fight is what the Hueco Mundo arc has been needing for a long time!
also Elden Lied up to ch65, well i can now say without any reservations that the story from the anime and the manga have completely veered off! can anyone say Myu? |

now i'm up to ch71 of Elfen Lied
/edit
Bleach ch284, a little dull to be honest, but the history about hollows was a bit interesting
i have also read up to Elfen Lied ch76, sadly nothing else has been translated even though it has been finished for years with 107 chapters either way it's probably my favorite manga atm |

Leviathan vol 4 = very interesting, but a little bit confusing
MPD Psycho chap 1 = kind of interesting (one of the best thriller manga, or so I heard)
My HiME vol 1 = the anime is ten thousand times better than this, crappy harem ecchi manga (fortunately, the art is not so bad + Shizuru doesn't run after any guy's tail) ><
Alive = a lot better than the live action
Gantz vol 18 = cannot wait for the next volume ><
in the end, seinen is somehow better than shounen, 'guess _________________ Click here to buy cheap Xbox 360, PS3 & Wii games!!! |

Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou (read volume 9) - Brilliant. A beautiful slice of life manga about a robot named Alpha. The characters are wonderful, the World is intriguing, this has definately become one of my favourite manga.
No Need For Tenchi (read volume 7) - I love everything Tenchi. I've got to hurry up and finish this series so I can start on the new tenchi manga.
Full Metal Alchemist (read volume 6) - Really good. I'm definately liking this more than the anime, more info, more humour.
Yotsubato (read volume 4) - I wonder if I spelled it right. Good manga from the creator of Azumanga Daioh. I like Azumanga better though.
Hack//Legend of the Twilight (read volume 1) - Bleah, I'm dropping this series.
Full Metal Panic - Sigma (the first couple of chapters) - It seems alright so far. I'm liking the novels more, though. |

I gets better. The second volume introduces Zelphie (sp?) and she wins. She never did appear in the anime (which annoyed me). _________________ digtrioPortable - Twitter |

Is it available in English? This and Honey And Clover are a aggressive go-getter to find. |

Soon enough? Sounds good. Which website do you look at 'coming soon' manga? Like an EzyDVD type site.
And will Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou get licensed? I can't read on my monitor, gonna need either a phisical copy or online manga on tape. |

Yokohama Kidashi Kikou has a 0% chance of being licensed --- I heard this one from the horse's mouth. As far as the release for Honey and Clover, no date has been set (so there is no point looking at online stores yet), but the license announced recently (a point that can be found on any decent manga news site). _________________ My AniDB Page |

That makes me sad .
Anyway, I just started a manga called Blood Alone, which is easily the best vampire manga I've ever read. The world is more realistic, and the story less action-focused then most vampire manga, and I'm really enjoying it. The characterisation is wonderful, the story starts to pick up in the second volume, vampires are handled intelligently, I love the artwork, I can't recommend this series enough for anyone looking for a decent vampire series.

The publisher (Infinity Studios) lets you read the first volume for free, but it takes ages to load, so you probably won't be able to if you're on dial-up. People on a slower connection can still click the *look inside* option for a preview of a few pages (without text). Anyways, it's a beautiful series, so you should check it out . |

i've finally gotten a hold of more ghost in the shell, now i've read up to chapter 5, it's fast becoming a favourite like elfen lied though I was surprised by a certain scene in chapter 3, only time will tell if more of those crop up
/edit
i have now finished Ghost in the Shell, some of the philosophical stuff at the end of it was a tad boring (it's alright to have it, but there was too much of it all at once) but otherwise it was great, even the philosophical stuff that wasn't bunched up i should start Ghost in the Shell 2 soon and hopefully then try and get a hold of Ghost in the Shell 1.5
what especially interested me was how the manga plotlines were used in both movies and both series (don't know about Solid State Society) |

i've been reading excel saga and have started volume 2, at first it wasn't so great but it's slowly become good
btw, i've noticed that there are two different versions of the FMA manga at borders, one is made by viz and the other by madman, what's the difference? |

Excel Saga gets much, much better once it starts borrowing from the anime, then the more recent volumes have been a step-up again. It is a surprisingly good manga, and I expected it to be decent to begin with.
As far as Full Metal Alchemist is concerned, there is the Viz release (US) and the Chuang Yi one (Singapore). Different translation and presumably no censorship. Same series though, if that was your concern. _________________ My AniDB Page |

Get the CY version. It's a better quality release. That, and I believe the ViZ version was edited in some parts - though I'm not 100% sure on this. _________________ digtrioPortable - Twitter |

The only bit of editing i have seen in the Viz release is, in one scene with Greed a peice of concrete he is [chained] on is changed from a crucifix too just a normal slab. No big deal really. |

Apparently a few of the Viz FmA volumes had some very dodgy editing. Words being put in the wrong speech bubbles and stuff. And they change the spellings of some names from one volume to the next.
Also, while there are translation hits and misses for both versions, CY/Madman version scores big points for getting "Xerxes" right. Viz went for "Cskelksess" or something horrible to that effect.
But yes. Definitely definitely read it! It has so much awesome stuff that didn't make it into the anime. Though if you've seen the anime, don't assume that anything you know from it holds true for the manga. _________________ We are Team Rocket! All your Pokémon are belong to us! |

oh don't worry, i've read up to ch73 already, i'm just looking into which version was the better version to buy
imo, everyone should watch the anime first cause it's great but not as good as the manga imo and you may not appreciate the anime as much if you watch/read it the other way |

I've only seen 4 volumes of the anime, but I'm reading the manga as well. I still think the anime rocks. _________________ digtrioPortable - Twitter |

The first vol is a lot more bloody. The guy biting his wifes head off before eating her and his children later on.
Also reading vol 2 of Parasyte after reading vol 6 of Enchanter. _________________ Motorcycling - You don't need an excuse to ride, but you need an excuse not to ride.

Vol 2 of Parasyte once again. Migi is one cool parasyte and that other one in the guys jaw, neck and upper toso was good as well.
Also reading Psycho Busters vol 1. It was the fan service at the start that hooked me. _________________ Motorcycling - You don't need an excuse to ride, but you need an excuse not to ride.

Zatch Bell vol1 - dude this is awesome, the fight, the plot and the art!!! I was up to volume 15 or something but the whole collection disappeared (thanks to my stupid uncle), now have to start collecting it again.
Strawberry Marshmallow vol4 - it's funny, but I just couldn't laugh... wonder why? _________________ Click here to buy cheap Xbox 360, PS3 & Wii games!!! |

It picks up from there and becomes truly awesome so if you liked what you've read so far you should love the rest. _________________ digtrioPortable - Twitter |

Read vol 1 of My Dearest Devil Princess and find it pretty similar to Enchanter. Both have lots of fanservice, but I think Enchanter is better. _________________ Motorcycling - You don't need an excuse to ride, but you need an excuse not to ride.
