yeah, im wondering what they are going to do about season 2, as funi in the US has basicly screwed all the SR fans over by putting Season 2 in a collection.
Good in theory but continutity wise really sucks.

I fail to see how putting it out in a collection screws the fans over. They get the whole flipping series in one go, and pay less than they did if they bought it one DVD at a time. Egads, I have a stack of anime to watch and enough money left over to buy food this month; those filthy Dark Sneider's mangas!!

I'm kinda waiting for the part two of the second season of the series to come out before I start watching this (got a massive backlog), so you'll have excuse my ignorance here. I thought that the series was released like this in Japan; Season 1, OVA, Season 2. This is the same way Funimation has released it, so how in hell has Funimation screwed fans over and how is the continuity ruined. I'm really failing to see what you're saying here.

As a School Rumble fan, exactly how have I been screwed over by being initially offered half-season boxsets for a lower price than the combined cost of the individual discs as individual releases would be? Because I'm actually feeling pretty happy about the new arrangement.

I agree on that. The discs take up less space, you can watch more eps at a time (13 instead of 4 for a "full" season) and it will be released so you have the full collection quicker (I assume), and, of course, they do cost less.

I like the half season arrangement, I think this is happening with The Wallflower as well?

It seems Madman are heading this way too, or are at least trialling the idea with Shuffle, Wallflower, and Naruto collections. Don't know about you, but this makes for an awfully happy Protocol...

Although, I have no more room for anime as it is...

Must build shelves.

I had a feeling that Darker than Black would be licenced at some point Razz Also, wasn't Noein airing on the ABC? You mean there was a show on TV that Madman hadn't licenced?! Shocked

I think what he meant by all of us School Rumbel fans being screwed over is that the 1st season was released in a special collectors tin and the 2nd season wont be because they're doing it in 2 half season sets so it will only be 2 DVD cases. Like Dante said I hope they give us a collectors tin or a box for season 2 but since it'll only be 2 DVD sets I doubt it. I admit it is a little annoying, but only a little, and it defininately wont stop me from purchasing the next season.

There is the Acquistions/Licensed Thread but it always seems to be out of date.

Try the Upcoming DVDs section of my web site, which lists all upcoming DVD releases, of cartoon related titles.

There won't be any special edition packaging. We are releasing it the same as the US release 2 x 3 disc collections. Which will probably be housed in a slapper packaging.

Damn ... more to add to the 'want' list.

Put me down for SR, Darker, Claymore & Lucky Star Embarassed

(And that' only because I already have ge R1 of Noein ... whic I only bought three weeks ago as I couldn't be bothered to see when/if it would be released here!)

Incidentally, big fan of the collection idea. Saves cash and space. Very Happy

I would of thought Lucky Star would be released individually seeing as it's a rather popular show and would stand to earn more money that way, much like Haruhi.

Er... it is not a popular show. NARUTO is a popular show; Lucky Star is very niche. Even among hardcore fans, it is not a `universal absolute' or anything: some liked it, many did not. It makes a lot of sense releasing it like that as the show has absolutely no mainstream appeal and not even all the hardcore fans are going to be clamouring for it, though, indeed, many will.
