ANN has revealed that the wrapparound of the 20th Japanese manga volume (released tomorrow) will announce a new series of FMA is in the works.
It doesn't say whether it is a follow-on, or new series. Hopefully a continuation; I wouldn't be too enthused about a new series. Something to keep an eye on. _________________ Nullus Anxietas |

I'm not sure how I feel about this... Dear God it better not be a new series, it just wouldn't be right without the original characters. If this is a follow-on, do you suppose that Ed & Al will make their way back home? I want to be exicited but I can't be, not until I get more info. _________________ He would stare at empty chairs

Actually, now that I think about it, an entirely new storyline with new characters would be better. |

I'm actually worried about it, I don't want it to kill the series. but I guess they would've thought about doing another series. _________________ Time spent on Anime I've watched

But where will it go. It would have to be an entirely original story, personally I feel it should pick up somewhere in the middle of the series, and continue from there. Do you think they will get the same voice actors for both English and Japanese? I hope so. _________________ Time spent on Anime I've watched

They usually seem to have no trouble getting Japanese voice-actors back in to reprise an old role, but this doesn't seem to be the case with English voice actors. I remember listening to the commentary on the Evangelion movies and they talked about how they tried to contact the original actors but they had practically vanished into thin air.
haseo2625 wrote: | I think that it should pick up where the movie left off. |
That's kinda an obvious choice, hell the ending of the movie was practically a forced setup for a new series. _________________ I have a blog! (it helps if you imagine it in Martin Luther King's voice) |

They might be able to get the English VAs back, as it wasn't all that long ago that they did the work for the original FMA. Wasn't there quite a gap between Evangelion and the movies for Eva?

maybe they will cover the time between the end of the series and the beginning of the movie. It could cover Al's training and Ed's time in our world. |

perhaps, but it is unlikely that they would base an entire series on this time period
after all, not much time actually passed between the end of the series and the movie
as for al's training, i think they explained that in the movie he could do what he could because of his experiences in the series
and besides, a new series based after the movie would just leave more freedom for the writers to play around with |

im sorry, i may sound like an idiot but what bomb?
its been a while since i watched the series so i dont remember
if you remember though, ed and al still havent managed to get their lives back to normal so it could focus on that. Plus the country has been turned upside down so who knows what could happen?
Or they could include some of the other countries into the story, like in the manga...
From what we have seen so far it is clear that FMA has some great writers working on it, so im sure they'll think something up |

im a n00b and cant figure out html coding through message boards so ill be as vague as pos. (even though its not much of a spoiler)
i thought that bomb was just ed's exaggerated story so it never actually happened
as for new characters, that is possible but i really hope not
i want them to finish ed and al's story if anything |

i agree. i like the manga better as well, though i still love the anime as well
though i think it would be a little strange if they all of a sudden started to follow the manga again now
that would make it difficult later as well, explaining some of the differences that happened in the anime to the manga, ie. why some key characters are or arnt still alive when the manga says otherwise
i say keep them as separate storys |

I like the manga more as well
my vote is for a continuation after the movie as the creator of FMA actually specifically wanted an alternate ending to the series and I doubt that would have changed (got that from wikipedia) I think it would be cool if the brought in some of the newer characters from the manga, kind of do a side by side story between ed and al and then mustang and co kinda like lord of the rings between frodo and sam, then aragorn and co. etc
pretty excited tbh |

you'd think people looking in this thread would have seen the whole series and know what happens, but you never know
has anyone heard if there will be the collectable metal tins and OSTs like the last series? |

If people haven't finished/watched the original series then they take their own risks reading this thread. You can't expect people not to post spoiler like comments on the basis that maybe someone who hasn't watched the first FMA series, might be stupid enough to come along and read this.
The tins were a US production, therefore we won't know until the new series get an R1 release and that won't be for quite some time, considering its still in the production stage.

Given it was only announced two moths ago, they'd only be into preproduction. Any talk of DVD release in Japan, let alone in the West, is extremely premature. _________________ Nullus Anxietas |
