Pretty much what the topic say. Now that the final volume is out in Australia and everyone has had the chance to see all of the series (or will soon) the question is what is your favourite episode?

Personally my favourite is 'Live Alive' for multiple reasons, not the least of which is the way the animation quality ramps up for 'God Knows' which is another good reason to like the episode.

'Day of Saggitarius' comes in a a very close second.

Quoted for truth. And the last episode of the Melancholy arc comes a close second for me.

Has to be episode 00, the film one!

The Island Mystery ep comes a close second.

Sorry about not knowing the correct names.

I'd have to say "The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya VI" (episode 14 or 6 depending on your point of view Wink). The whole 'enclosed space' scene was just great..

"Live a Live" would be a very close second. I actually stumbled across a video of the concert scene before I'd even heard of the series, and was instantly hooked. Can't imagine why..

Ditto on both. The enclosed space scene was one of the better things I've seen in a while.

Seeing the Live Alive concert scenes (and others) in AMV Hell 4 is what got me into Haruhi.

After watching the last volume, I think Iíll change my preference to ĎLive aliveí. I love the concert, Very Happy especially in Japanese; Iíve gone back just to rewatched that scene a few times already.

No matter how many times I watch the series Live A Live is the best ep, they have so many parodys and all the little scences hidden in the background match up perfectly. Its also the best animated episode of the series. The ep also includes two great songs and some reason I always like concert episodes.

Who doesn't love The Adventures of Mikrur Asahina?
My other favs would proberly be part 1, part 4, The boredom of Haruhi Suzumiya, and Day of the Sagittarus.
Basicly the ones with really good one liners.

I'd actually have to agree, but not only because 'god knows' is a fantastic song, but the look on Kyons face when haruhi started to sing was absolutely priceless lol.

I don't get why everyone likes Live Alive so much. The whole episode is just a vehicle for Aya Hirano's career. There is no storyline or even dialogue, just a couple of mediocre J-pop songs.

There's actually a decent amount of character development in Live Alive, even if it's all right at the end. It's also a nice chance for some of the secondary characters to get some screen time.

All in all the episode is just generally fun.

You may as well be saying the entire series is just a vehicle for Hirano Aya's career (and be just as mistaken); every episode bar one was based (pretty faithfully) on Tanigawa Nagaru's novels. And the one that didn't draw from the published novels (Someday in the Rain) was still written by him, it just wasn't something that would work as a novel.

Storyline? It's there, just not the sort of earth-shattering stuff that happens in other episodes. Dialogue? Oh, it's there. Plenty of it, based around some decent character development. You mustn't have been paying terribly much attention if all you saw in the episode was a couple of songs.

But as mentioned, it's just fun. Enjoyable to watch. Entertaining. You know, those things that TV shows generally should be.

All the eps in TMOHS were instant classics, But if I had to choose, this would be my top three favourite episodes on it...

My Top 3 Favourite Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya Episodes
1. Live Alive
2. Day of Sagittarius
3. Someday in the Rain

But in my personal opinion, as many others have stated before us, all the episodes are good in their own right.
