Holy wow.

This is probably the first time there has been more than one acquisition title that I'm excited about!

I must add that Gurren Lagann better be in an artbox otherwise I'm importing. Although it's a fairly high profile series so I shouldn't need to worry.

Ponyo was actually annnounced long ago, on news section of the web site.

Although right next to the 'Mad Acquisitions' is the Madman logo, and a sub heading saying 'Shiny and Magical'. Then underneath "Stay tuned in April as a big shiny and perhaps magical announcement will be made by Madman. It's a good one. Keep an eye out on madman.com.au."

So maybe I didn't find it. Sad

Madman still have not announced several titles, which are been released in June 2009. So I expect there are more announcements to come, including their first Blu-Ray release.

Well I did announce here before anyone else Gurren Laggan, 5 Centimetres Per Second and Rozen Maiden Very Happy

I'm also sure there are plenty more announcements to be made as well, hence the mystery of 'Shiny and Magical' still existing.

It'll be Nanoha, I'm pretty sure since it coincides with the recent U.S release. I already bought S1 R1 boxset so I hope if it is Nanoha that A's will be licensed with it Smile

Anyway Gurren Lagann, definitely on my to buy list.

I'm not so sure about that. It is the first thing that came to mind when I saw "shiny and magical", but it doesn't strike me as that likely.

My fingers are still crossed that Gundam 00 will be announced as it does fit the Shiny and magical theme.

Woo so pumped about Ponyo and Gurren! Wish I could have gone to Supanova today as well as yesterday, but I flew back home to Adelaide last night =[ But I was very happy to see the acquisitions in the mag AND my room was in the fanzone part of it! So I'm VERY happy =]

Apparently the big news is Fullmetal Alchemist, premiere simultaneous with Japan. Also to be streamed weekly on the Madman website. Confirming it all now.

Ok, my reporter got back to me (go Shino!) so here's the posts

Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood premiere and online streaming: Awesome news, it will be good to see what kind of stats Madman get from this...
Title Announcements: Yeah, you all have known this, but what's of interest is Blu-ray releases!

Fma brotherhood will be screened next weekend at Supanova Brisbane simlutaneous world wide premiere at the same time as the Japanese broadcast so that's 6pm Sunday.

The screening is subtitled and will be introduced by Vic Migonga the original English Ed Elric from Fullmetal Alchemist series 1.

Episodes will be streamed each week online for free at Madman.com.au's new Screening room plus. Time frame for how fast after each broadcast that the episode will go up is to be determined.

episodes will stay online indefinitely for now.

EDIT -

Gurren Lagann = 6 indivual volumes across 6 months. V1 and Limited Collector's Box wil also have core drill necklace torch. The same ones that was in the US release.

Transformers the movie is the only blu-ray we have announced so far.

I think the chances of MM releasing a title solely on blu ray is slim to none, it would be like firing your lazar at your own foot, and alienating most of your client base in one hit.

Local release for Gurren Lagann is great news. It's easily the best thing Gainax have done since Nadia.

The FMA announcement is going to make someone in this house very happy. This is the future of watching anime folks, get ready for it!

Yes, as much as I'm interested in the other properties and Blu-ray, this has the potential to change the way we (legally) acquire our anime prior to DVD release!

y'know... i'm not sure i'm really sold on this FMA2 thing. the first series, only came out a few years ago... and now, they're remaking it? so. i spend $30 X 14 = $420.00 on the complete 1st series for nothing? so now i have to buy it all again? christ i would have been more excited if they remade something that actually needed remaking.

of course, getting to see it legitimately for free online is very cool (altho i for-see madgate 2 on the opening night for episode 1 (or 2... actually)..) and so quickly is great... it's awesome to see Madman mimicking the likes of Funimation and getting anime to us quickly and legally... it's the way of the future and it can only get better (like Madman getting off their lazy butts and start dubbing their own stuff, rather than... .... no... i'll stop there... i promised myself i wouldn't turn this into a "cry about Madman" post)... but yeah, good stuff.

but meh on FMA2. i was hoping for something a little more... i dunno.. original... like maybe Macross Frontier or something (impossible i know, but it would have been nice). least this way i guess, i can see FMA2 before i make up my mind on whether or not it's a mad rush for cash or a worthy remake...

also... "shiny and magical", i don't get it. (more like 'sparkly' and 'scientific'... no?)

and nice to see Rozen Maiden get licensed for local release too, the 'old favourite' i never thought would have a chance... is coming to Aus... well done... same with 5cm Per Second, beautiful stuff as always from the brains of Shinkai. Ponyo i was expecting sooner or later, but it's awesome to see it actually written in black and smudge. Gurren i'm a little meh over. it's good and all, but i dunno... too noisy i guess. but it's still cool that it's coming Aus-side.

overall- i'm happy Very Happy

This is flipping sick news.

FMA Series 2 released almost simultaneous with Japan, before America has even announced anything, and online for free, not on Crunchyroll, here on Madman.

And then the release style of Gurren Lagann is awesome too.

Thanks Madman. Cool

PS. I still want One Piece Uncut lol, not being greedy though.

It's not all for nothing, You enjoyed it did you not?

That being said, remakes does not mean, exactly the same thing again. A different direction may be taken, plus reading on ANN there's an anime only character as well (though created by the creator).
Also the series isn't going to have a set amount of episodes either but more than likely continue on till the end of the manga, w henever that happens.

I don't care I have the whole first FMA series, with a second coming out. If you loved the first series you would be excited about a whole new series (not saying you didn't like it though). It was the first series I feel in love with that makes me want to watch the second even more.
