I hope it's the actual launch, and not just the announcement of the launch that's coming. Can't wait.

Video not found: http://cdn.madman.com.au/trailers/flash/adverts/sit_tigh

The Madman logo video runs, then the above comes up.

Also, Sly's link returns a 404 error.

The "video not found error" was due to a conflict with a popular Firefox plugin. This has been fixed now, so please try again.

The link to the Screening Room Plus has also been updated: www.madman.com.au/videos/

Enjoy the show!

Had a few problems here and there but I ran a lot smoother than I expected. It stopped for a little while in the middle and just before the next episode summary. Considering other websites I've visited with video content as large as this was Madman have done an excellent job and I look forward to watching many more things this way.

The quality of Darker than Black Ep 1 is effing amazing, especially for a stream, and the buffering time is next to none. Thanks Madman.

Working for me so far, looks pretty good. I wish that this high speed broadband system was already available in my area though, it takes my connection a fair while just to buffer the first couple of minutes!

Well done to Madman for setting this up, full episode screenings are a great idea.

We're fixing a few things like the black in the middle of the episode and at the end of the episode.

sorry for the confusion, it's a slightyl bumpy start but we'reg etting there. We also aim to get this up on a set date, but will have more of a firm idea as we get our processes going. Smile

HA! Take that America! How's it feel??

Had a look at Madman's new streaming service, I'd have to say I'm impressed! I think this is certainly the right path to beating fansubs at their own game! With Madman's inside connections, they should be also able to out-release them and with much higher quality than a "speed sub" too! There are a few suggestions I have if Madman's willing to listen:
1) Can we PLEEEEASE get a 720p version with less compression? I know that fansubbers have released a 720p version of Brotherhood, and seeing as I like to watch anime on my 1080p TV, I'd love for Madman's stream to be able to go toe-to-toe in terms of resolution.
2) What? No OP translation?

Hi Gang,

One of my rare visits!

Glad to hear the positive reaction from all, and thanks for any constructive suggestions.

I must say the region lock image cracked me up too! Glad we have some funny guys in the web team!

We take the requests for 720p on board, however delivering bandwidth in Australia is massively more expensive for us at this time than other territories, and many of us have slow and expensive connections with data caps. That said, you can expect this service to grow and change rapidly, and we'll do our best to bring you everything you could desire in time!

Bring on the NBN!

Cheers,
Tim

Why not offer higher quality (and maybe additional content?) via a subscription method? similar to what is currently offered by Crunchyroll.

There still aren't many legit way to use up data caps easily, and frequently.

I very much appreciate the PAL-sized images, much better than some video sizes you get on the internet.

*squeeee* that was, just wow, i'm impressed to say the least, though i did have to have it on medium rather than high, cause high took waaaay to long to load, but yeah...*happy dance*

soooo...when's ep 2 out?

I've just watched ep 1 FMA-B. Loved it! Will definitely be buying the Blu-ray when released. The Stream went without a hitch (Medium Quality). I think placing promos should be kept to a maximum 30seconds at start with perhaps a longer promo following the episode.
Thanks for putting up the service, I'm sure it will prove to be an effective promotional tool.

Bah, should have switched to medium, but I didn't notice the button until a substancial amount of the episode had loaded. Razz

Watched about 2/3 of it so far. I should be able to watch the last third soon enough hopefully.

Also, I'm glad to hear that from episode 2 onawrds, OP and ED will have subtitles. Although there were times when writing on the screen wasn't translated, like Mustang's little "Urusai no ga kita naa" thought bubble and the kanji identifying the prison and such. Will things like these continue to be ignored in future episodes?

Went off without a hitch for me.

Excellent stuff, and I really can't wait to see more of this. This is a terrific trend in home entertainment, and I hope it catches on with other popular series.

Hey! It's Tim! Awesome to hear that you're considering 720p! While I can understand that it might be expensive for Madman to deliver HD goodness, I don't think it's much of an issue for the end user. A 23 min 720p video, if properly compressed, can end up around 200MB (I've seen it done!). I would imagine a streaming video would download less than that right? Perhaps if this whole national broadband thing gets up off it's ass we can see something on this front! Also, would an iPhone-friendly version of the site be possible? I'd love to be laying in bed and enjoying some Madman streaming goodness!

*EDIT* Something just occurred to me about Madman's broadband woes. What if you were able to make downloadable versions of the episodes, with some kinda DRM that prevents the wrong people from being able to see them, and distribute them via Bittorrent? That way, it's Bittorrent that's taking all the strain, not your servers! As to the DRM, maybe something like Steam where you need an account to use them, and you can only get an account if you're from Australia.

Thanks Madman, for streaming this series.

I had a problem watching it on medium quality. The second part of the episode, after the eyecatch, the audio was out of synch with the video by almost exactly 2 minutes. ie there was silence for the first 2 minutes of the second half of the episode, then the audio started up two minutes later.

Also loved the ep. The animation in the first series was top notch, but this is a whole other level again!

Actually...I don't think it'd bother them at all...FUNimation is streaming it for them...

Still...it's so much more fun than the region block on their page Very Happy
