I know they are streaching this out i hope its because the second season may be lenghthed further than the expected amount of episodes. I know they are also building up anticipation to the disaperance arc, but this is getting annoying. _________________ "Kyon, a duel is a duel from the very momment the word is mentioned. Apprantly the number of weeks it is has repeated (that is, for Kyon etc) has passed what it did in the novel, so this is all anime original now. _________________ Would you care for some tea? |

And that rumour was started from another message board(2chan I think???) without a reputable source. But still I can't imagine too many people being happy with this whole situation. _________________ Cris... Crispin Freeman get out of my bedroom!!! |

I'm going to go out on a limb and be one of the few voices that is loving this arc.
The anticipation built in not knowing if this will be "the one" in which something else happens is a legitimate seat gripper. It is a risky idea, which is what I love about it. It completely bucks commercial trends, and may indeed be commercial suicide. I have faith that it will all pay off though. (Don't rock my faith, Kyoto Animation!).
It would have been very easy to do the first series quirk again. Indeed, remember how strange the out of order episodes seemed before it all made sense? Instead, they are testing our patience with this bold move. I keep thinking that this is the ultimate self-referential act for a largely self-referential show: animation - especially Japanese animation - has always had elements of repetition to it. This could be a very extended joke on that front too. I can't wait to see the pay-off... _________________ DVDBits - Australia's Source for DVD News and Reviews | Bitscast - We talk too! | Twitter - Follow me on Twitter! |

I don't totally hate it, it's just that they could have done exactly the same thing in less episodes quite easily. During the last cafe scene of the this episode when Kyon considers stopping Haruhi leaving I literally said my to TV "just f**king talk to her!". These are probably the exact reactions that the producers wanted, but is it really worth losing fans over? They aren't gaining anything from doing this. _________________ Cris... Well Kyon kinda gets that Nagato is feeling really really bored and ultimatly some guilt would be installed in the group. I was more interested in the fact that there are two lines that kyoto goes out of there way to emphise. When Haruhi talks to Kyon about homework "Get the tideious stuff out of the way first" and about thier subordinants at the pool.
Anyone else got any imput on this?

Im also with boredandlazy on this one, its not that i hate it, its just the exicution of the whole thing and the frustration because of it seem unessicary and makes for a boring DvD. _________________ "Kyon, a duel is a duel from the very momment the word is mentioned. Everyone, save yourself of watching the latest ep. It provides nothing new. In fact it seemed like they were closer to doing something about it in the previous episode. It's actually gone backwards in my opinion. _________________ Cris... Crispin Freeman get out of my bedroom!!! |

The repetition is frustrating but I love this show so much I'll tolerate a lot.
Still for a 2nd season of 14 eps, 6 or more eps that have a few percent difference in story content is a huge (and a very brave) investment by the producers. I'd be very interested to learn of comparative ratings for the episodes in Japan. After waithing 2+ years for the 2nd season to finally appear I do feel slightly ripped off. |

no way, in the novels, endless eight only lasted a single chapter. This has lasted 5 episodes so far, looking at the next episode preview, it is not going to end. Originally it was stated that the endless eight arc was going to be 6 episodes so, we will need to hope it still is. Seems like we have a full 8 episodes until this arc ends. _________________ PSN: Echo230 |

My friend theorises that it will be 8 episodes.
I theorise that it will end on the last episode in August.

The industry in general seems to be moving towards sets instead of individual volumes for initial release, so there is a good chance. Still, given how much money I threw at the LEs largely just to get broadcast order discs and a pretty box, I probably would buy a DVD consisting only of Endless Eight.
(Don't tell that to Bandai, though...) _________________ ツンデレ |

Imagine how the Japanese fans are feeling, what with there only being 2 episodes per DVD for like $60 each. |

well if I new this was going to happen I would have watched the first and wait for you guys to tell me when this crap is all over and not wasit my time
sure I thought it was cool little thing to do on the 3rd ep but on the 4th its like "what?" also why cant we see the OTHER jobs they do. we get told its not always the same but we seem to see the same job being done
about buying the dvds... well I am a collector and prob would buy them all but if its not a set release they better throw in something special for the LE that contains this arc |

Which is what I meant by franchise killing. This interminable arc is likely to have a very negative effect of DVD sales in Japan which make up a significant chunk on the profits. _________________ I reject your reality and substitute my own! |

That may depend on just how the DVD release is handled. If they decide to release Endless Eight with a higher episode count and maybe lower cost per disc, they may not lose that many buyers. Particularly if other new episodes also happen to be on the Endless Eight discs; I'd expect that the first one would have to include Bamboo Leaf Rhapsody. _________________ ツンデレ |

There are a couple of other reworkings of that scene; After he was banned from Xbox Live, his cronies sent him a Youtube link. That goes down like a lead zepplin. _________________ ♪I want to shine on you, and always like the dazzling sun,
