Code Geass will be airing on ABC2 from January 19th 2009 at 9:30pm every Monday.

There will be a special 1 hour double episode premiere so don't miss it!

Not only this though. If you miss the screenings you will be able to view the episode up to 14 days after airing on ABC's iVIEW service for FREE. iVIEW is a new free streaming service from the ABC all you need is a broadband connection and flash installed on your browser. Visit www.abc.net.au/iview

Check the official Code Geass website for weekly synopsis updates as well as links to the week's episode.

Where exactly does the ABC get their masters, for the TV broadcasts? are Madman involved at all?

Is there any way that Madman can ensure, that Code Geass doesn't suffer the frequent inconsistent aspect ratios problems, that effect Death Note?

They should be DVD masters rather than Adult Swim Masters, which is what ABC2 had to use as the DVD masters weren't ready in time for ABC2's airing of Death Note but the masters from the US TV braodcast on Adult Swim was ready, which was unfortunatley letterboxed on the master itself which meant ABC2 had to crop it to be a "fake" anamorphic.

For the record, the aspect ratio was only off in the first couple of episodes, it has been consistent ever since.

Three different aspect ratios, were used by the first three episodes shown on the ABC2. But the aspect ratios problems have continued throughout the series, with several other episodes effected. Episode 28 (on 3rd November) was the last stuff up (pillarboxed) I noticed. All based on the TV broadcasts of ABC2 in Melbourne, not sure if other areas were different.

I gave up on TV broadcast of Death Note after the third episode, I only noticed the continued aspect ratio problems, as I record Good Game (which is shown before) on the ABC2 too.

I think this is actually done on purpose, to keep all the on-screen text within the "safe" viewing area. Blame the dodgy masters - when shown in full 16x9 (most of the time) the subtitles sit right on the edge of the screen and I'd imagine get cut off by some TVs. So the image is reduced in size slightly to compensate for this. A lot of Studio Ghibli DVDs do the same thing.

Back onto the topic of Code Geass.. Razz

I'm looking forward to this Surprised I found it kind of hard to get into back... before... it was licensed... but I'll check it out again now that it's on TV. It does show some promise Smile

According to the online TV guide at the ABC web site, 'Creature Comforts' is been shown at 9:30 PM on the ABC2 on Monday 12th January 2009.

Has Code Geass on the ABC2 been delayed?

Sly, I was wondering, are we likely to see anime on analog ABC in the near future or is it purely going to be a digital deal?

Definitely not, all anime shown on the ABC over the last few years, has been exclusive to the digital channel (ABC2).

Only chance of anime of analog ABC, would be another kids series shown on RollerCoaster, which has not occurred since Astro Boy (2003 series).

Don't know about anyone else, but I'm getting pretty excited about Monday night. Looks like they are treating us to 2 episodes too. Nice!!!

I will add that I have never seen the show, only a preview on the MM site, I liked the look of it and have been anxiously awaiting the free to air viewing.

Viva la Rebellion!

Dunno, but since the analogue network is shutting down eventually anyway, it's worth investing in a digital set-top box.

None that I'm aware of. It'd be nice but no. Grab a $30 set top box!

Well, I might watch it again next week, but I didn't really like it. It felt like they were trying to cram far too much into far too little time. I prefer the more slow-paced politics of shows like Tytania.

But I will give it another chance next week before I make up my mind.

The first season finished. If ABC2 is going to screen season 2, it won't be until around when Madman starts releasing the DVDs, later in the year.

Ok. Cheers for the info. Pretty safe to assume the massive cliffhanger I saw last week or the week before was the end of s1 then.
