No.
There is no justifying Endless Eight.
To be honest, they should allow viewing of this movie for FREE after that travesty... _________________ Waggleton P. Tallylicker - R.I.P - Never Forget

I can't wait to see this thing. Especially since movies always have absolutely gorgeous animation compared to TV shows. Unfortunately being a movie, it'll take a bit longer to hit the intertubes than a TV episode, but that's no problem. Can't wait until we get news of an English dub and DVD release for this. (As well as Haruhi-chan and season 2.) _________________ I challenged Ash Ketchum to a Pokémon Battle.

this is awesome news!
dissapearence of haruhi suzumiya sounds like something that would last a while and should be in a movie rather than episodes.
but anyway i can't wait! |

Well, good things ccome to those who wait. It took three years to get season 2 and then we survived Endless Eight. I think waiting for the R2 DVD release of the film isn't gonna be too painful.
For the past few years, I've had to wait several months after the Japanese cinema run to watch the Pocket Monsters movies.
Also, Gouki's statement that Endless Eight is the best overly long gag ever is the most truthful piece of truth to ever be true. _________________ I challenged Ash Ketchum to a Pokémon Battle.

Agreed. Endless Eight was trolling at its most brilliant.
Also, I am very much looking forward to this movie.
I think we'd all love to see what Kyoto Animation can do, given a film budget and 150 minutes of screen time to play with. Add in the fact that Disappearance is the best (imo) of the light novels and we should have a really, really great movie on our hands.
It might just bump Grave of the Fireflies out of my top 5. _________________ YUKI.N> Are you ready to join the SOS Brigade in Cyber Nations and spread excitement all over the world with Suzumiya Haruhi?

Teaser for the new movie is being streamed from the Haruhi TV website: http://www.haruhi.tv/. Initially the page says it cannot be found(it's a trick... haha) but it eventually shows a teaser which makes this look very interesting indeed.

Saw that earlier. Music made me think of Shinkai's "Tooi Sekai" though, since it's the same piece (since it's one of the Gymnopédies by Satie, which Shinkai made use of in Tooi Sekai).
I'm very much looking forward to this film. _________________ YUKI.N> Are you ready to join the SOS Brigade in Cyber Nations and spread excitement all over the world with Suzumiya Haruhi?

Even though i have hopes for this movie... I fear i will not be able to stop thinking about the movie that could've been.
Also, i am glad they are not trying to push that awful K-On style of animation. |

Let me say that... I have never watched K-ON, so I have no real opinions on it's quality or lack thereof. The art style for K-ON isn't bad, but... It's not Haruhi. Several episodes of season 2 felt off because of the animation style being somewhat different to season 1.
To put it another way... I love Dragon Ball, and I love One Piece too. However, do you really want Son Goku running around looking like this? Or Monkey D. Luffy looking like this? _________________ I challenged Ash Ketchum to a Pokémon Battle.

That's not necessarily a bad thing. Hosoda Mamoru would be newly entering the Haruhi franchise, so it could go either way.
On the other hand, the directors they did go with are well-versed in the Haruhiverse, with Tatsuya Ishihara (directed Air, Clannad, Kanon, Lucky Star and The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya) and Yasuhiro Takemoto (directed Lucky Star, FMP: Fumoffu? and Second Raid, worked on Air and The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya) lined up to direct the film. _________________ YUKI.N> Are you ready to join the SOS Brigade in Cyber Nations and spread excitement all over the world with Suzumiya Haruhi?

So, the movie is out on Blu-Ray/DVD in Japan now. It has hit the intertubes. I'm sure some of us have seen it by now.
Opinions?
Personally, I loved every second of it, and I was quite impressed with some of the cinematography. Particularly the times we got a Kyon's eye view of things or Kyon's big epiphany scene and a number of other parts too.
I'm really looking forward to when Madman get their hands on this and release the bilingual DVD with the dub. _________________ I challenged Ash Ketchum to a Pokémon Battle.

Yeah, I'll be very much looking forward to the DVD release in Australia, although I'll be giving the dub a miss (since Stephanie Sheh is undoubtedly going to make a mess of Mikuru... again). _________________ YUKI.N> Are you ready to join the SOS Brigade in Cyber Nations and spread excitement all over the world with Suzumiya Haruhi?

I'm not. Blu-Ray all the way for this one! It's the only way to do it justice short of watching it at the cinema. Which I am hoping to do also when Madman announces the details of their limited cinema release. _________________ I reject your reality and substitute my own! |

For someone who picked up Haruhi Suzumiya late, is there a wish by the creators of the franchise to milk it as hard as possible while not spending much?
The complete series 1 and 2 have been released on blu-ray with English dubs, but there seems to be an inordinate delay in releasing The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya with English dubs on blu-ray, given the movie was shown on 21 May 2010 with English dubs.
Or does this franchise just make one less patient |

I've only watched the second disc (DVD that came with the blu-ray) so far... so much feeling in it, seeing Hiroaki Yura welcoming the Japanese people involved with the soundtrack to Sydney, the cast talking after a couple of screenings in Japan, Minori Chihara visiting the school for making the PV for Yasashi Bokyaku and also visiting the block of flats that Yuki Nagato's apartment was based on.
I only wish that I could have seen this movie on the big screen |
