I wondered if there is anyone here who doesn't like Dragonball Z/GT/Kai and why?

There is a dedicated section on the boards for DBZ discussion:

Would probably get more response if you posted in here

Hey, he said doesn't like. You'd hardly expect non-fans to congregate in the Dragonball forum.

I'm not a fan, but I don't hold any animosity towards Dragoball. Several years ago I use to watch it on Cheeze TV. But never caught a full season or anything.

Fair enough, I was expecting this to be moved to that forum so that's why I posted the link.

I used to love DragonBall when I was younger, when it was first shown in Australia.
I don't care too much for it now - Don't hate it though

I love playing Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 3 on PS2

Out of all the series of Dragon Ball my least favourite would be GT because it could have been done better. Should I post movies as well because I don't like some of them?

I find I have no interest in DragonBall Kai. I like most of the filler, and I just don't want to buy an abridged version of the series with 'updated art' when I can just fastforward what I don't like on my DVD's.

The only thing I like about Kai is the new merchandise they're coming out with.

You really like filler such as the crab on Namek? Fake namek? Ginyu in Bulma's body? All the various staredowns and powering ups (yes, a vast majority are filler originating)? The various trips to hell? Garlic bloody Junior?

I'm not going to say there's no good filler (love the trip to Arlia, and the Z-senshi fighting the duo of ancient Saiyan warriors, Tenshinhan managing to take down two members of the Ginyu Force, Gohan and that robot, etc.), but yeah.

I can easily fast forward (or in the cases of Garlic Junior and Bulma and the crab, completely skip) filler that I don't enjoy. I'm not going to repurchase the entire series just to get rid of those scenes.

As I said, I like a lot of the filler. It's fun. Even Fake Namek, to an extent, though I suspect that's just because those episodes were the first I ever saw of the show, and I have some sort of strange nostalgic feeling towards them. A lot of it does more for characters we don't see as much. When we weren't having exactly what we'd just seen in an episode described to us by Kaio-sama, I enjoyed the filler with Piccolo and company on his planet. Gohan's early training is great character development. Added filler for the Great Saiyaman is enjoyable too.

You've mentioned the few filler scenes or arcs I don't enjoy, basically. But those are easy enough to skip. I don't know how many people would agree with me but Kai has cut out a lot of the filler I enjoy and I'm really not eager to buy it.

I like some filler in DragonBall Z. The Great Saiyaman and Gohan training filler is really good. It is better then some of the normal episodes. They should have kept some filler in.

Well you have to admit it's pretty good for it's age.

Compare to today's anime which the animation has improved and more complex storylines or even just simple storylines...Dragonball/Z/GT is getting old I'm afraid but I do see people still buy the season slimpacks.

So even if it's and oldie it's still a goodie in somebody's taste.

The old generation might get sick of it but a new generation will probably start to like it.

It's gonna be one of those classic anime's that keeps having a fan base.

It already is a classic haha.

Yarrrr be Spoilers be loooo!

Nah I just started the topic because I used to love all DBZ when I was younger but
over time I grew sick of the series; like Goku taking 10 episodes to do a kamehameha to kill Frieza. The fact that if someone dies they can come back to life so theres not that feeling of loss if a character dies, like for example in (SPOILERS) Death Note or Cowboy Bebop. It's just usually new anime fans come into the fandom like DBZ is the best man..or even just ignorant fans when there is so much more out there. I'm not trying to sound elitist but I'm just saying I think it's a good stepping stone to finding more anime.

I mean its still a classic and is still so popular in Japan and around the world but I just wouldn't consider it the ''best anime''. It's all opinion of course

I agree with Eternal Melodyll - You don't feel any empathy for the characters when they die as there is no finality in there death

They are just resurrected some way or another

I laugh when ever I see Krillin die, then I watch him die in Slow-mo. I really don't like him.

That's pretty funny, watching it in slow motion. That's also pretty sadistic too - What's wrong with Krillin?
Destructo Disc is an excellent technique

I used to like it...but I've outgrown it. There were a lot of annoying aspects to it, like the taking forever to power-up (and the bad guy of the week just waited for them to do it).

It still holds a special place in my heart though. It DID get me into anime and manga after all. And I admit I have been watching it on Cartoon Network lately, but that's only because they've just hit the Trunks/Android saga...

Not a fan of GT personally, it's like official fanfiction as some people have put it.
And also since Akira Toriyama had minmal to no involvement in it.

Yep not much of a plot it's like a rehash of DB having to find the Dragonballs all over again, along with better fights then Dragonball Z, basically.
Not to mention reverting Goku to a kid, ignoring some characters and other things.
