Suggestion for bonus material for the 2 disc release of Ponyo on a Cliff - Joe Hisaishi's concert at Buddokan broadcast on NHK on 20080923 as a celebration of his 25 years with Studio Ghibli, which includes 5 songs from Ponyo.
The only English language review I could find of this concert was at http://www.originalsoundversion.com/?p=226. |

Hi, the Joe Hisaishi concert has been announced for release on DVD and Blu-ray in Japan on 3 July 2009.
No sub-titles though )-:. I'd hope that Madman could provide an English sub-title for an Australian release, even if it was otherwise identical to the Japanese release and mastered in Japan. |

This has to be one of my most played DVD's, and still worth it getting it from Japan, although Madman could have had a market simply by adding English subtitles.
Interestingly, this concert is included on the Japanese 10 (?) DVD super collectors edition of Ponyo.
There are other DVDs released in Japan without English subtitles which would interest local fans if available from Madman with English subtitles, such as the DVD's on the making of Princess Mononoke ([Princess Mononoke (Mononoke Hime)] How the film was conceived (wa Koushite Umareta)).
Another item outside of Madman's focus but also missing from availability anywhere are sheet music for Studio Ghibli songs with Romanji lyrics. |
