The speculation is over.. or so it seems.

Walmart has listed Dragonball Remastered Season 1 (R1) for release in September.. as seen below.

http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=11100000

The listing mentions the release is in widescreen however in a Press Conference in the US a Funi rep stated it would be in Full Screen!! (Phew)

Although I cant find direct reference to this, there is discussion about this on the Official Funimation website forums. See below.
I cant be stuffed reading 30 pages of talk.. there may be something in there.

http://community.funimation.com/tm.aspx?m=136063

This wont come as surprise, rather as releif for most of the fans out there.
I am certainly glad and cant wait!![/url]

Well on dragonball.wikia it says the release dates and also shows what the official cover art is. Which is that one you posted.
http://dragonball.wikia.com/wiki/Dragon_Ball_(anime)

That end part of the link is meant to be there but for some reason it wouldn't accept it as a full link.

If their releasing of every other Remastered dvd in the franchise is anything to go by, then yes, Madman will release it.

They should because they released DBZ and DBGT digitally remastered. So why not DB digitally remastered.

But would this really offer us anything that Madman haven't already given us other than being "Digitally Remastered"?

I mean, with the Dragon Ball Z and Dragon Ball GT sets we had the dub w/ Japanese music track. However Dragon Ball's dub always had the Japanese music so we wouldn't be getting anything there we didn't already have. Although for the US, this is the first time episodes 1-13 will have ever been available and the rest of the series has apparently been long out of print.

Well if the sound and visuals are improved might be worth it.
So I'm of that opinion.

Well the subtitle tracks were stuffed up on disc 1 of Dragon Ball Collection 06 - Fortune Teller Baba, and never fixed (in boxed sets or fatpacks). With episode 73 only offering dubtitles, and all other episodes only offering literal subtitles.

So having complete subtitles for the series would be one advantage, if you watch with the subtitles enabled.

Funimation DVDs these days don't offer dubtitles anyway. But your argument certainly still applies to episode 73 not having the English translation of the Japanese episode.

How tragic that we can no longer brag about this. Razz

Madman/Sly

Can you give us any word on a possible Madman release? Season 2 is due to be released on Tuesday. Going by what you said about localisation times it wouldn't be crazy of me to expect a February release for Season 1? (5 months after the US release)

Also here is the season 2 cover art.
