Earlier this evening I ordered Jet's Shaka Rock from Big W Entertainment. Ages ago (about when Shine On was released) I decided to buy all their albums. I only recently realised they had released a third album. _________________ Nullus Anxietas |

I did that myself once. The only problem was I didn't have enough money in my account so I had to then go through and choose which ones to leave.
I picked up some DVDs on the way to the counter and forgot to add them into the total. Heh. |

The Libertines - The Libertines

The next lot shouldn't be too much longer... I hope. _________________ "Every great battle is preceded by a keyboard solo"

Things have been dormant for me the last month or two regarding new records. I have a whole lot of Vinyl on its way in the mail though and April is going to be hectic - So expect a few posts with images to compliment.
Two of my favourite bands are releasing albums this year too. |

A couple of goods arrived in the mail yesterday.
Fractures by Killing The Dream
One of my favourite releases from 2008, I downloaded it straight after release and I jumped at the opportunity only recently to buy it on Vinyl.
Awesome Hardcore/Punk.
Calamities by Ghost Town
This was just released a few weeks ago. Only a CD but I thought the packaging was really cool and deserved a few photos.
Ghost Town are like a young Australian version of Converge; Metal played with a fast Punk Rock attitude - Heaps of influence from Tragedy too so that keeps me happy. |

Mmm coloured vinyl .
I've got more than half of my JB order in now
Tonight I'm Yours - Rod Stewart
Belladonna - Stevie Nicks
All Mod Cons - The Jam
Songs From the Rain - Hothouse Flowers
+ others I've already mentioned.
It's been well over a month but I still have hope that the rest will come. _________________ "Every great battle is preceded by a keyboard solo"

I laughed when I found out about that release. It's funny that postmodernism is making a release out of what it is copying, it's like they just said 'screw it ,stop emulating go with the real stuff'. I like to think that most of the kids that buy the CD probably don't know where these tunes came from, or the popular disdain for them.
Don't get me wrong though, I love most of those tracks! _________________ "Every great battle is preceded by a keyboard solo"

Jane Doe is an intense work of art. I only found Converge when I saw the film clip to No Heroes late one night on Rage two or three years ago now, that would be my favourite album of theirs too.

I got 101 90s Hits. I've already got the two 80's His sets, and am undecided about getting the Beer, Love Songs and Aussie sets. It will depend on how many of their songs I like that I don't already have. _________________ Nullus Anxietas |

Bought a couple of albums from iTunes.
Basement Jaxx - Kish Kash
We Are - Cassette Kids
The Cassette Kids album is only $5 and has 8 tracks. They're quite a good Aussie dance/club/punk band. Basement Jaxx are awesome so I don't think I need to say why I bought the album.
I've been trying to cut down on the amount of dance/electronic/hip-hop albums I've been buying but I always seem to just keep getting them. I've been buying individual tracks from other genres and bands but rarely a full album. |

Amnesia and Surrender by Paint It Black - Two EPs they released last year which kind of compliment each other.
More to come shortly. |

Today Screen Archive Entertainment is releasing Star Trek III: The Search for Spock, a companion album to last year's Star Trek II album. This time it's a two-disc set; the first disc is the entire score, remastered, while the second disc is a recreation of the original LP soundtrack, complete with Group 87’s pop version of “The Search for Spock.” There's a 20-page booklet, too.
I ordered it last week. _________________ Nullus Anxietas |

Human by Hopeless
Their first vinyl offering and it is really, really good - Every track is excellent and as soon as it finishes, I play it again. The instrumentality and atmosphere in their songs is awe inducing. Great Hardcore coming out of Melbourne.
Edit: The colour-way is red with black splatter given out to pre-orders only. Limited to 100.

I need some assistance again - For someone who has not really listened to much from The Cure, which album should I get first or is most recommended?
As a note, I am not a big fan of Greatest Hits or Compilation albums. |

Oh but their greatest hits packages are so good! I do agree with you though.
Ummm it sorta depends on what you're after. Three Imaginary boys is a good early album (debut), so perhaps start with that, has a more punky vibe I guess. But perhaps Boys Don't Cry is better, as it has the title track on it and Jumping Someone Else's Train, it's basically Three Imaginary Boys later and for America. Head on the Door has a couple of their best songs on it. Going later Disintegration is a great album, very atmospheric but with pop sensibility. I haven't ventured into their later stuff much further than that, but those albums tend to be some of their best regarded. Hope I've managed to help, I wishh I could offer more on the subject as they are a great band. It seems to be with the Cure though, that some of their singles didn't feature on any albums, much like The Smiths (from memory). _________________ "Every great battle is preceded by a keyboard solo"

A couple of delays with some pre-orders at the moment which really bothers me. Currently expecting Jane Doe by Converge - A really special order as it is a very limited re-press that comes with a twenty-eight page booklet containing artwork, photos, information and recording notes. Shipping directly from Deathwish Inc in the US; it will be worth the cost. Pretty sure it is going to be pressed on a nice clear colour-way too.
Another interesting fact it that Jane Doe was voted number one record of the decade by Sputnik Music the other day.
Then another order I am expecting is from Anchors Aweigh Records; The Bright Side by Break Even which was definitely my favourite release of 2009 - Pressed on Vinyl for the first time in two colour-ways; blue/black and green with black splatter (I ordered the green). I’m kicking myself over this one though as I made the decision to pre-order from Anchors Aweigh (which I am still waiting on), when Resist Records here in Australia just got their stock in. If I just waited and ordered from Resist like I usually do, I wouldn’t be complaining.

Disconnecting by Sinking Ships
I really love this album, now I finally have the Vinyl and as you may guess; this record sent me on quite an endeavour. After looking everywhere, I ended up putting an order through Resist Records (Even though the site stated implicitly that they were sold out) and a few days later short of a week, I had mail.
Thanks Graham.
I ended up with the clear green press, which my sources say is the second pressing - When you're buying Vinyl through a distributor it's like lucky dip. I'm happy, even though I was hoping for the opaque green or clear colour-way.
Time to go listen to Ghost Story. |

Just bid on a very rare and limited friend's press of Songs To Scream At The Sun by Have Heart on eBay. Friend presses are super limited (This one is limited to 150) and are the initial release given to friends of the band/label.
LP is on a clear colour-way, which is always my favourite colour – I hope I win.
Edit: I've already been outbid - Sorry, $50.00USD inclusive of postage is too much for me in Australian dollars. End price was $160.00USD. |

Ruiner - One of my favourite Hardcore/Punk bands and a couple of weeks ago they announced that they are breaking up after the end of their current tour. So, I decided to pick up their releases on Vinyl (No idea why I hadn't done so before).
Dead Weight
A three track EP that was released to pre-empt Ruiner's latest release Hell Is Empty in 2009; containing the title track Dead Weight and two exclusives. Pink/blue split colour-way out of 700 - Vinyl came with digital download card.
Prepare To Be Let Down
A great album that just manages to clock in under twenty-one minutes - They manage to make every second count.
I was really surprised when I opened this up because I've ended up with the purple/orange split colour-way of the first press, limited to 300 (The rarest and most limited available besides the test and record release versions on black Vinyl).
Sometimes I will be at work, sitting there in front of the computer doing some mind-numbing task and the lyrics from the reprise at the end of this record scream in my head.
Quote: | What could possibly go right? |
Gold.
In other news, I just pre-ordered the new EP from Miles Away due out 30 July. I'm super excited about this one - I picked up both available colours for $20.00AUD and can't wait to give it a spin. |

So, some more news straight from the discussion boards over at Deathwish Inc regarding the Jane Doe re-issue delay.
Quote: | We've made a brief announcement regarding this a couple weeks ago, but we aren't being specific with time-frames that we are given, because we know too well that they can change.
I've said this on other forums, but we took a risk with this release due to promises that were made to us buy a manufacturer we were using. We were given a "promise" on a rock steady turn around time, and due to this, we felt it a good decision to start preordering for the release when we did. Almost immediately after preordering started, we ran into some issues with other jobs we had in place with this company, and we lost confidence (rightfully so) and had to pull Jane Doe from it's place in the production schedule, and basically start all over. We were already at the point of no return however...
We made a decision to have the lacquers cut by one of the best in the country and in the approval process, Alan Douches, who mastered Jane Doe, unexpectedly fell ill. We didn't know this, and had already given our approval on the cut, but the message never made it to Paul Gold @ Salt Mastering, so the job (unbeknownst to all of us here @ DW) was in cutting limbo when we thought it was on its way across the country to be pressed. Once we learned of all this, we got the ball rolling again. We were hit with another snag in the process when a whole batch of lacquers got destroyed at the plant in the plating process while in (I believe) an electroplating bath. The job was held up for a number of days while the plant tried to figure out what went wrong - apparently this was the first time in 40+ years in business that anything like this happened... OF COURSE it happened to Jane Doe!
I realize that it has been a long three months. I assure you that this wasn't intentional, and that at all points along the way, we have done everything humanly possible to fix the problems that have arisen, and get the train back on the tracks.
Just bear with us, please, and you will have your record looking, and sounding better than ever, as soon as possible! |
The world of Vinyl continues to surprise me. |

More from Sinking Ships - Ten on yellow out of 328. This is the third pressing of this EP and contains two of their best tracks in my opinion (Both on side A). I love this band, it's such a shame they broke up.
I Heard These Dudes Are [Censored] by Ruiner
This record is a compilation of their early stuff re-mastered, on white Vinyl limited to 1,000.
Chasing Hamburg by Polar Bear Club
I really like Polar Bear Club and to me; it is pretty much Pop Punk - Every time I suggest them to someone though they say it is too heavy, which leaves me puzzled. Any one who likes Punk should go check out the video for Living Saints on YouTube - It rules!
I don't have the pressing info on this one and I can only describe the colour-way as clear olive. It looks much better in-person. Going to go take it for a spin now on the new speakers.
Also, Converge have just announced that they will be releasing a new seven inch in the following weeks. It's only available via three methods/options (With a different colour press for each respective method) - You can buy from the band on tour in Europe, order it from their online store in the States or a Vinyl distributor can purchase it for retail and in turn buy it from them. Hopefully Graham at Resist Records in Sydney will pick it up.
Edit: Found the pressing info for Chasing Hamburg and it turns out it isn't olive, it's translucent gold out of 2,000. I really think it is more of an olive. |
