volume 25 is the latest volume in japan (covering chapters 100-103)
but the magazine is curently up to chapter 107 with 108 the final chapter being released next month so there will probaly be 26 volumes in total depending on how long the final chapter is there could be 2 more

According to the posts on the Madman site there are two chapters remaing with the final one being released at the same time as the last episode of the anime:

That post also said the anime is 64 episodes. Do they know something we don't?

*checks*

Well, it did. They must have fixed it. One of the comments pointed it out.

Yeah, I saw that 64 thing too the other day but noticed just before it had been changed. I was going to ask about it in here but saw that it has now been corrected.

I was unaware it would end,the same day the last chapter came out. I wonder if they will perhaps do another movie, or at least a special to clear up, all loose ends.

Its been a good nine years; few series can compare to it in my book. If Viz releases a complete box of the manga, I will buy it.

Considering all the major threads are coming together now, any aditional story would just be detrimental, or superflous at best.

i agree i don't think they should make a movie because if they did the series would end half way through and arc and we would have to wait for the movie and i don't want a bones original movie that's not canon with the manga but i would be happy with a couple more ova animating some of the gag strips (not shore what these are called)

Omake? I think.

It's gonna be a big ending. Chapter 107 was insane. Looking forward to it.

Kinda surprised that both anime and manga will end at roughly the same point. I really hope this doesn't mean the last few episodes are rushed. There's some fantastic stuff that I really hope they give proper animated justice to.

Rumour had it at least a couple of months ago that Arakawa finished the manga at least a couple of months ago now and its just been a case of waiting for the magazine the manga comes out in to be released each month. If this is true then the animators should have been able to get early access for each chapter and thus have plenty of lead time.

They do, BDs as well. Wikipedia lists three OVAs. They are on volumes 1, 5 and 10. Volume 9 has an unaired episode, too, apparently.

You have a point. Still I hope it's an ending that does the series justice.

The would have to deliberately muck up the last two chapters to ruin the series.

well ive read 107 and its an awsome chapter and they way things are going and how arakawa has set things up i dont see how chapter 108 (the last chapter) could be anything short of incredible unless arakawa does something to screw it up witch i doubt because when has she let us down before

I loved the ending, really wish there was a bit more to the epilogue though, but what we got was pretty fantastic. Only things I didn't like were Greed dying and Pride...living...or whatever. That part bugged me the most, it just felt off.

Absolute favourite panels of this chapter were Hohenheim dying in front of Trisha's grave, and Winry running to hug Ed and Al when they return. Those were really emotional scenes.

Am trying to not read it since I'm not that far in the manga yet, but took a peek at the last few pages...that EdWin ending and those lines are the most sweetest and romantic thing I have ever seen! I had a huge smile on my face as I read it Smile
