I've heard rumours, and saw posts about this. Is it official that Madman will release Nausicaa on Bluray sometime soon?[/i]

Look in the last couple of pages of the Future Anime Cover Art thread in General Anime.

Or, if you're too lazy for that, look below.

EDIT - "Razz" is short for "raspberry". You know, stick your tounge out and *blrrrrrrrrt*.

Actually it doesnt appear to be exactly the same. Seems a light digital noise filter was used at some stage. Japanese release has more grain.

This has irked me for a while. Why, on bluray, is grain seen as a good thing? Isn't it just noise?

I've wondered that too. It's probably because of the same, odd reason that some people like the gramophone over modern music systems. It gives it.. that feel. So, the grain... makes it feel like a 1980's release?

Miyazaki wants it so.

So far this is what i have noticed -
Despite everyone using the same transfer,The Japanese and USA share the same amount of grains that miyazaki wants on the BR release, whereas the Australian/UK have basically a grain free transfer (Which I prefer. My motto concerning animation BR is that if the grain can be removed without sacrificing detail/colour etc... is for the better. [for ME])

I enjoy watching Madmans BR release of Nausicaa, bringing new life and crispsness to the image.

Which release is correct?

That's for YOU to decide

Is there another thread for this topic?

The problem is that comparisons between the japanese and the UK/Aust release, show that our version isnt as crisp as it should be. That doesnt just effect grain, but also overall detail in the image. Also it is not the way that the creator who oversaw the blu ray releases wanted them to look.
