my highlight for today is this: i bought my mum a ride on mower - i bought my mum a ride on mower and she is thrilled.

ok - this might strike people as a little odd - i mean - why is it my highlight when she gets the mower? my highlight is seeing her this happy - it has been too long since i've seen it and i don't think i could ever see it enough.

our old ride on mower broke over a month ago - and it took ages to get the person to look at it - and now that they've said they can't fix it - it's still taking ages to get it back - we were meant to be able to pick it up 3 weeks ago and it still isn't there to be picked up so we haven't been able to get anyone else to look at it - and all the while the grass is getting longer and more and more dangerous snakes (browns, red bellied blacks, taipans) have been making themselves more and more at home.

now mowing with the ride on is my mums version of chocolate - and due to all the stress she's been under lately plus having to deal with large amounts of chronic pain - she's been seriously overdue for a fix - although she will be paying for it pain-wise tomorrow - she is still happy.

*watches her mum zoom around on the mower and beams like a dork*

i love eBay.

Awww cute, good on ya. Doubt my mum would be as thrilled if I have her a ride on lawnmower!

Highlight for me would have to be my mega hammock arrive!I've been trying to find something crazy to buy with my xmas money this year. You betcha I'll be as cirpy as this family when I get the thing hanging.

i just got mistaken for a highschooler Mr. Green or well - closer to high school age and considering my 26th birthday is next week - i'm not complaining Very Happy

i do realise they were probably either being really nice or just plain suck and guessing ages - but hey - all girls like to hear they look younger than they are

my mum's birthday was the day after so it got me sorted for her present too Cool but i still maintain my belief that all mothers would love to be given a ride on mower - then the rest of us can sit back and organise some lawnmower races *nods nods*

There are signs saying if you look under 25 they can ask for I.d.

Considering I look late teens, early 20s, more so after a shave, I'll be getting asked for a few years yet and I just turned 27. The surprise on many people's faces when they find out my age is priceless. Well the non bottle shop/bar staff anyway.

Last time I went out, i was surprised by one of the bouncers, dude just wave me in, didn't want to look at my I.d. Lol

When I was in America, a particular bartender in Arizona made me go and fetch my passport before he'd serve me a beer, but when I got back, he didn't even want to see it. The reason was that if his boss walked through and asked for my ID and I didn't have it, he'd lose his job for serving me.

There's probably a similar principle at play here.

I know for me at least, when Iím selling cigarettes at work, itís just about protecting myself. Itís like a 10 grand fine if I sell to a minor, so regardless of how old you are, if Iíve seen your ID I know Iím safe. I think the oldest person I've asked for ID from was 36 lmao.

A few years back, I went to my 10-year high school reunion. It was a private function event at some pub. I had the official pass and all that crap, and I got still asked for ID! I laughed, then said "Dude, it's a ten year r-e-u-n-i-o-n. Ten!"

Think I might have hayfever or allergies or something. I've never used medication for this sort of thing before but picked up something today to see if it works. Had no idea what to get so I just got whatever looks like it might work. Razz

In the highlights because I'M TOO DUMB TO FIND OTHER WORDS TO USE SO I USE THE F WORD allergies that's why.

On the odd time that allergies strike, I use Cetirizine (that's the actual drug name), that is available as a generic over-the-counter medication.

Thanks for the tip, bro! The one I got is called "Ease-a-Cold". It had day & night capsules and listed all my symptoms on the front of the packaging which is why I went for it but I'll give the one you mentioned a go if this one doesn't work. Razz

Not even sure if I've got allergies as it's not something I've ever really considered before... Laughing

Fist day off work today!
Its awesome to finally get a day to sleep in and relax, considering I only had like 6 days off in the past 2.5 months. Working on jobs with a 7 day work-week schedule can be brutal!
At lease I made some awesome money and now I have 2.5 weeks of annual leave to look forward to... I have so much stuff I need to get done,(like getting a new phone, a haircut organising a passport, booking a trip to Japan... ect.) since I havenít had anytime for anything except work lately.

Fist thing on the agenda is, Iím getting my knee tattooed tomorrow... that should be... interesting. Laughing

Got my knee tattooed today. It was a pretty tender area, but I think i tricked myself into expecting it to be a hell of a lot worse than it actually was, its nothing compared to the pain i copped when i did my feet... So thast kinda a highlight... Also it looks really cool.
I got a huge togers head over the entire front of my knee, which is really swollen now btw.
I get it finished in 2 weeks time, sicen we only managed to have enough time to do all the outlines and black shading... So thats another portion of my body taken care of. Razz

How do you get around the OP? I remember them telling us ways of doing it but can't recall any. I've contemplated going to Uni myself but realised my 16 OP (or whatever it was) will get in the way. Just got lazy in class and never bothered trying but I did ace the QCS test so as not hinder other people (seriously, what's up with that?!).

Highlight: I joined the lines for the self-serve checkouts at Coles, only to be dismayed to find the line was huge, and many of the people trying to use the machines looked like chimpanzees who had been tasked with discovering cold fusion. When I looked to my right, I found I was almost second in the line for the old school checkouts. And the guy at the front was finishing up. Jumped into the old school checkout line, and was though in less then 30 seconds. LIKE A BOSS.

Then I made this response on a forum:

Today was a good day.

God, the self-serve checkouts are sooo frustrating sometimes! You decide to go through them 'cause you have a drink and a small meal or something and end up sitting there just as long if not longer because a bunch of knob jockeys decide to put through a whole friggin' cart of stuff or take a million years to purchase two items.

If you have too many items just go through a regular checkout or if you're not sure on what you're doing just bloody ask somebody!

By the time you've joined the line and realise how long you'll be you're too close to the registers to jump out and head to a normal one.

Know what's also annoying (when it comes to self-serve)?

Any time you do anything that's not going forwards (removing an item, replacing an item, backing out of a payment choice to do another), the big 'ASSISTANCE REQUIRED' text shows up with its big, red triangle. It shows up just so a staff member can show up and (likely) screw up what you were trying to do.

One time I was scanning some red chillis that I had chosen to pick up in a brown paper bag that they provide for them in the vegetable section. However, when weighing them the machine had a fit and decided it needed assistance. The woman that came over took one look at my brown bag, decided I had mushrooms, then punched in that I was weighing mushrooms (that cost way more per kilo). I had to repeat the process two more times just to scan the chilli, because she kept entering mushrooms, despite saying they weren't.

...Other than those occastions, and the ones you mentioned, self-serve is a life saver.

Or you sit there for years while somebody meanders over and then casually swipes a tag and walks off.

Oh, and "Please place your item in the bagging area". I'm gagagoogoo doing that Trevor! "An unknown item has been placed in the bagging area! Please remove before continuing!". THAT WAS THE gagagoogoo ITEM YOU WANTED ME TO PLACE THERE! I WILL END YOU! Mad

But otherwise they are awfully convenient. Razz
