Ok so some of the series that seam to be toward the top of my favs list all seem to be very violent and gory. Laughing

For example Gantz would easily be in my top 5. I just love how that show was deliberately violent, and gory. They didnít pull any punched when making that series. Its full of violence, gore, nudity, action, constant swearing (liberal use of the 'F' word), Sexual references and scenes and just grotesque imagery in general. its really a great show to watch.

I recently finished watching Shigurui: Death Frenzy. Which has to be one of the most graphically detailed, gory anime series I have seen and after finishing that, I started wondering what else is out there.

The series that i have seen that come under this type of category that I have seen are:
Gantz
Elfin Lied
Rin: Daughters of Mnemosyne
Shigurui: Death frenzy

and I guess to a little bit lesser extent, but still definitely for the mature audiences:
Ninja scroll
Berserk
Black Lagoon
.

Is there any other series that are extremely violent and gory that should be targeted towards the mature audience like the shows I just mentioned, that you could suggest?

Also Iím not really interested in anything thats like pretty much Hentai, so no need naming stuff like Urotsukidoji or other stuff that involves things along the lines of tentacle rape. Confused

Basilisk is pretty violent. I'll have a look when I get home for more examples...

Manga Entertainment dubs, from the early 90's, would be right up your alley.

You know, I was thinking pretty much the exact same thing.

Off the top of my head some specific examples
Guyver OAV (though for that matter the new version is fairly violent as well)
Genocyber
The original AD Police OAV
Ninja Scroll
Devilman

And in much the same vein but live action rather than anime

Machine Girl

Baccano
Afro Samurai and Resurrection
Sword of the Stranger

If you liked Ninja Scroll, try Wicked City or Cyber City OEDO 808 (all by the same director). Also worth a look are Fist Of The North Star, Golgo 13 and Vampire Hunter D.

Basically if you want great old school dubs with heaps of swearing, try everything released by Streamline Pictures (https://secure.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/wiki/Streamline_Pictures)

Oh yeah, and track down the Urotsukidōji movie series. Prepare yourself Cool

I spent an hr trying not to throw up after watching Machine Girl and I couldn't handle Tokyo Gore Police.

The girl in Machine Girl was hot, but man the gore fest had me queasy.

Violence Jack. Its so gory and sadistic that it wasn't even released here. The series was banned in Australia (this was back in 96 tho if they tried to release it here again it would prob get passed with a R rating) while most countries only have the censored version.

Check out clips of it on youtube, im sure there is an uncut dubbed version but subs are avaliable too...then just torrent the series im not sure if there are any VHS (again, 1996) or DVD copies left. There is a manga for it too.

But they were so over the top and ridiculous! They were so far away from reality they couldn't even come close to unsettling my like, say, Wolf Creek.

I kept trying to say that to myself, but even though they were over the top, they were graphic. I did love the part when she uses her machine gun for the first time. Those ninjas had it coming. The woman with the drill breasts......shudder.

My favourite anime of all time happens to be MA15+
I would recommend The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya to anyone. It's only the first season that's MA15+ though (with the second season being PG and the movie M)But the first season is way better than season two and makes up the biggest part of the franchise.
MA15+ for Strong Sexual Themes and Animated Violence

...you're kidding right, Ritsu? Haruhi is like, Pokemon compared to most of the titles mentioned in this thread.

I know that it's not that unsuitable a show and it probably shouldn't have gotten that rating but it's MA15+ and I recommend it highly.
