Havent been watching anime for a couple of years, look for some anime series released by Madman or Siren in no more than last 2 years. looking at titles with very good story lines and more of a darker story/theme. No series that have alot of comedy.
A few that I've been thing of are full metal Alchemist BH, Darker Than Black and today seen shiki at JB hifi.

What is when they cry like, casshern sins and Durarara!! like?
Also When I say the last 2 years I mean that have been released in Australia with last 2 years.

Just home video release or streaming as well? Because there are some good shows both in Madman's Screening Room and which Crunchyroll has the Australia license.

Bodascious Space Pirates (Crunchyroll)(Hanabee has the home release but no dates yet) *HIGHLY Reccomended*
Horizon in the Middle of Nowhere (Madman's Screening Room)
Last Exile: Fam of the Silver Wing (Madman's screening room)
Fullmetal Alchemist (was in the screening room, now on Blu-Ray and DVD from Madman)
The World God Only Knows (Crunchyroll stream, Madman DVD, season 2 pending) *HIGHLY Reccomended*
Fate/Zero (Crunchyroll. If you can find them the Japanese Blu-Rays had English subs) *HIGHLY Reccomended*
Otome Youkai Zakura (Crunchyroll)
Kamisama Dolls (Crunchyroll) (though it was a bit up and down in terms of story)
Inu x Boku SS (Crunchyroll) (light rom-com fluff for the most part)
Nyarko-san: Another Crawling Chaos (slapstick harem-ish series based on... the Chtulu Mythos. Sometimes jokingly referred to as Ah! My Elder Goddess)
Sword Art Online (Cruchyroll. Currently screening) *HIGHLY Reccomended*
Campione! (Chrunchyroll. Currently screening)
Muv Luv Alternative: Total Eclipse (Crunchyroll. Currently Screening)
Kokoro Connect (Crunchyroll, currently screening)

Edit: Fixed a spelling error
