Being that I've started 3 or 4 threads about the show in other areas, yes I do remember it. |

I love this show. Sadly, its unlikely to ever be released, as no one knows who holds the rights anymore. _________________ XBL: Tamaaya | PSN: Stormo | Steam/GameCenter: StorminNorman | Stormo Plays Games

If we wait a few more decades, no one will own the rights!
Seriously, if you want to find out who owns it, just start bring it out on DVD and see who sues you... |

Fox Kids?
I don't know I;m just guesssing, but all other roads on classic anime seem to lead to Fox Kids these days.... |

Saban Entertainment would still have the rights, who are owned by Disney now. So I doubt the series would ever be released. |

there is a DVD set released in France, and I think Germany too!
Personally I'd like to see subtitled versions of the original Japanese Episodes, as when it was translated to eng. dialogue a lot of the story was thrown out due to content being taken out as it was considered un-appropriate for children of the time. |

Madman stated at Manifest two years ago that they'd asked about it, but whoever has the rights either isn't telling anyone, or doesn't know they still have it.
IIRC, Mysterious Cities of Gold was in this situation, too.
The only DVD set I've seen of SPC was bootlegged, unfortunately. _________________ XBL: Tamaaya | PSN: Stormo | Steam/GameCenter: StorminNorman | Stormo Plays Games

I was looking up any info I could find and according to the listing on TVshowsonDVD.com for this, the license is held by Buena Vista Home Video. Personally I severly doubt they'd ever release it.
But then I found this interesting article:
http://www.tvshowsondvd.com/newsitem.cfm?NewsID=2655
According to that link, there has been one volume of SPC available on DVD since 2003. Make of it whatever you will. |

Then Madman didn't do much research, Disney should have been the first point of contact, since they own Saban Entertainment.
I wouldn't be surprised if people at Disney were not aware of many of the old cartoon series they still have the rights to though. They gained a large library of old cartoon titles from Saban Entertainment.

Buena Vista is another of the companies owned by Disney, who distribute their various titles.
Sounds like a bootleg, judging by the details/review at Amazon. A poor quality DVD release, imported from overseas. There is an earlier thread about this DVD release too. |

The Jade DVD was determined to be a bootleg on one forum I read (it may have even been in a thread here). _________________ XBL: Tamaaya | PSN: Stormo | Steam/GameCenter: StorminNorman | Stormo Plays Games

Like some where i my pile of anime VHS tapes (you remember those black square things) I have about 12 hours that where recorded from Agro Cartoon Connection many years back.
When I was watching the show in recently, it was rather funny watching the amount of homo erotic jokes about Big Cheeze Sexuality that actaully did get passed the censors back then. _________________ Digital Dreamer |

Playing Samurai Pizza Cats consumed most of my recess and lunch times in Grade 1 and 2. Ahhh, those were the days.
I watched an episode last year and was surprised to find it even funnier than I remembered. There are so many jokes in there that would just fly over kids' heads. It's rather like Monkey in that regard. |

I woulfn't mind a bilingual release of this if at all possible.
I'd like to know what the original storyline was, but at the same time the english dub is so wonderful and hillarious it's worth having that too. |

Rember it!...its been plauging my mind for the past 3 yrs...thats a good thing XP
Im lucky I rember it at all, since I pretty much forgot the whole show, and only remebered it since I was lucky enough to find a 10yr old tape with half an episode on it. EP 14 Those Transforming Felines...but not out of the 52 existing SPC eps I probably have at least 46 of them, mostly in poor quality RM, but Ive also got at least 10 high quality Div X and AVI.
But what really plauges me is the fact that SPC hasnt been licensed yet for an English DVD release. I mean whats taking people this long, the French already have one of there own. And believe me I aint doing another language subject this year.
But as I understand theres MADMAN employees on this forum, so I have to ask those who know whats the statis of SPC, will we possibly ever see a DVD release, believe me theres a strong enough fan following out there to make some good cash from it.
Also I heard there was a poll here on what retro anime to license and SPC won by 41% of the votes. But I dont think its the thing wether SPC is a good investment or not. If Im correct its trying to find who owns its rights. And if sources serve me right its now owned by Disney
Also Ive joined this forum to act as sort of a journalist for the online SPC community and Im sure that they all want to know as well. |

EEEEE! I remember being in prep and grade one doing the same thing...
Astroboy, Monkey + Samurai Pizza Cats were all great parts of my childhood.
Samurai Pizza Cats is one of the few theme songs I can still remember, having not seen it since circa 1992, I guess its vaguely impressive. |

I'm so sick of all the old shows being lost due to that 'No-one knows who owns it' problem.
Damn you copyright and ownership laws designed specifically to allow Disney to have sole ownership of Mickey Mouse! |

Perhaps, if Samurai Pizza Cats is unobtainable, then the original Japanese series may be a worthwhile alternative? _________________ 3DS: 4296 - 3062 - 9292

My god, I think I was 5 or 6 when I watched this last. And I can hardly remember any of the shows content, other than it has 3 cats who I think deliver pizza's
It would be nice if they did realise these on DVD but usually old classic shows like this don't .. I'm still waiting for Ducktales >_> |

While I DO remember watching the show in my younger days, I don't remembr anything at all about it.
I checked out the openeing animation of SPC the other day, and it was really funny, makes me join the throng of people wishing for a DVD release. _________________ You must show no mercy-

I rememeber watching this during school holidays when I was 5-6. Mum wouldn't let me watch cartoons before school until I started highschool so always had to wait till holidays. She always commented about how my sister and I would wake up earlier in school holidays then on school says. |

Not sure if this has been mentioned here somewhere already, but a US release is on the way:
http://www.tvshowsondvd.com/news/Samurai-Pizza-Cats-DVDs-Planned/16654
Actually two -- a release of the dub, and a subtitled release as well.
Hopefully this will pave the way for Madman to release the show here! |

Haven't seen the R1 dubbed version come up yet. I just wasn't sure if madman was going to release dubbed only or subbed as well like America is. Was this announced at Supanova recently? |

Been meaning to congratulate Madman on their SPC release. The packaging is really nice and uses much more interesting art than the two US releases. So fantastic to have a local release of this brilliant, hilarious classic.
Editing a month later to add: volume two is just as impressive. So much nicer than what the US got. Thanks, Madman. We waited a LONG time for this license and you did a great job. |
