As the title says:
Hayao Miyazaki hit 70 on January 5th 2011 (Japanese time)

Anyone else planning to celebrate with Studio Ghibli DVDs?

EDIT: Changed the title to specify the year, as I didn't want to make another thread for just 72

70 years old and doesn't look a day over 25 Very Happy
Good on him for still carrying on! Even though it was almost 5 days ago, I too see this as an excuse to whip out some DVD's of SG hehe.

Don't forget the pre-Ghibli Miyazaki animations "Panda ko Panda" and "Lupin III: The Castle of Cagliostro" - they hint at what was to come.

Now at the age of 72.
Happy Birthday Mr. Miyazaki!

Here's hoping for a long life and continually successful career!
Though I imagine in about 2-3 films time (from Miyazaki, not other directors) he will retire. He's certainly earnt it.

Wouldn't surprise me if that was the case, my sister used to do that with Aladdin all the time when she was younger put it on first thing in the morning watch it and rewind and would wait however long it and then start it again until and have it playing in the background all day.

I watched Spirited Away recently, as much as I love that movie once every now and again is enough for me.

Not really - 24 hours gap almost. I like the part when the parents get the "all you can eat" party. And when no face gets "all you can eat" party as well....so you can decipher that I'm a foody Smile
