So uh, any chance of an artbox with season 2 of Code Geass BD? Would be nice to have the BD set in one...

I think its due to the girl on the right hand side of the picture.

I would assume the cover underneath will be more like the cover for 2.22 as well.

I need to repurchase 1 and 2 anyway,
1 for the slipcase plus the cover could be in better condition >.>
2 because I asked a friend to get it signed for me at a convention but he gave the V.A. his name so it's signed to him and I will probably just let him have it Razz

It was because you used the word "apparently" I thought that you were unsure of the censorship of the UK release in the first place.

In reality?
Blu-ray.
Though I'm curious to see what the difference is between current DVD and Purple DVD...
New extras? (Though I doubt Madman would bother re-releasing the series on DVD just to add on some DVD exclusive extras.
Perhaps part of the licencing? I have no idea D:

The contents on the discs will be exactly the same in the purple edition. Just have a new plain packaging cover. There will be a reversible no ratings cover that you can switch to.

In that case, I'm super glad that I purchased the R1 Blu-Ray collection from FUNimation earlier this month

Funimation has not even released it on bluray.

It is due to licensing issues.

Although we might see it come out on bluray sometime this coming year.

I think he is refering to this

http://www.rightstuf.com/1-800-338-6827/catalogmgr/Lms3JjVjFmW71VCQqE/browse/item/96388/4/0/0

This will either be confirmed or denied early to mid next month when funimation releases their June 2013 schedule.

Considering there's a cover art thread over at Mania forums (including back cover art), I think it's pretty certain. Well, except maybe the date. That's always a variable until it's actually released.

That long? I've got it in an order that was coming in August anyway; an extra couple of weeks actually pushes it back closer to quarterly for me.

Hence why I was only thinking it was a couple of weeks.

I hope some day soon Madman can come to an agreement with Sentai to co-produce Blu-rays, (like they do with Funimation) so Sentai will author disc to bd both Region A & B compatible so Madman can just use their discs and recase them, like they do with titles Funimation and numerous other European companies release on BD... Instead of always having to re-aurthor the disc them selves, usually meaning that they need to find a European partner to share costs.

For a long time I just assumed it was not even possible and Sentai had some policy which would let then only produce BDs locked to Region A. But it looks like Hanabee have managed to change that, since a lot of up coming titles which both companies have licenced seem to be being released as region A and B compatible. I am assuming its because they are co-producing the shows and sharing costs, so that they can both have the shows available on BD in each businesses country.

Come on Madmad, there has been far too many good shows produced by Sentai that have been released as DVD only over here. (Shows puctured in the above post for example)

Glad to see my little Pony boxset 1 listed. I placed an order through JB-Hi-Fi for it a few months after release because that's how long it took me to decide that I wanted my little pony and it went out of print after I placed my order so missed out. If that's the full collection of season one the 3 vols that I have already will be going to my friends little girl and will not worry about getting the ones that I don't have already. Season 2 boxset will be getting purchased straight away this time Wink

Not really possible as we are not licensing the majority of these titles via Sentai but from Japan directly. If the titles were licensed via Sentai there's a chance it would be allowed, but it would depend on the Japanese licensor as well.

Circumstances and situations are different for each company as well. Until the cost of producing BDs come down significantly, we are still stuck in a title by title basis. We cannot spend money like this with the knowledge that a title just would not recover the cost of producing the BD. It's tough, but we would rather still be in a position to be able to release more titles in the future rather than running into an enormous amount of debt and stock problems.

What you say makes perfect business sense.

(General comment to other posters below)

Also with the other companies in question, they seem to be releasing more niche market titles and hence not having a huge catalogue of anime titles. This allows them to be a bit more flexable in terms of what format they will release on.

Madman on the other hand has a huge catalogue of anime titles with both mainstream and niche market titles available.

So people, would you choose more or less anime available in Australian stores?

Quality! I'd be choosing quality of quantity any day!
It's the reason i have spent $200-$400 (on numerous occasions) to import certain BD releases from Japan when I could easily buy the western DVD release from either America or Australia for $30-$50. But each to their own.
At the end of the day, it doesn't bother me who releases the show and where it's released as an English friendly BD because I just will import it from anywhere.
It's just that if an Austrslian company puts in the effort to release a BD in a timely fashion. Id rather it buy from them, to show my support/appreciation and to hopefully encourage them to keep putting in the effort. But if it doesn't happen, then I just go and buy elsewhere. Just my outlook on it all.

I do agree with some of yor points however you have to remember that the Australian anime market is not big enough for madman to gamble on releasing a large amount of titles on bluray that will not sell.

If I could afford to spend $300-400 per boxset then I would but at this stage of my life I would probably only buy boxsets like this 2 times a year at most.

Better than the R1 cover. Shishio and Kenshin over a bamboo background.

It changed back in January and is the same as what we're getting, plus a border. I must have forgotten.

Hmmm I wish they had put Cowboy Bebop in a single collection.

Are you releasing Poppy Hill as a regular edition, to be followed by a special edition later, or is it a full-featured release from the get-go?

Is there any likelihood of an ender box for Cowboy Bebop? I read speculation of said box elsewhere. I'm not worried about if such a box will be released, I'm just curious.

I know how to find the future cover arts (it's a secret!) but often check this thread to see any I've missed. I usually leave the posting of cover arts to Kirben but I thought since this hasn't been posted yet, I'd share it with you all! Presenting:

Interesting, not a Japanese cover. The RE Japanese cover were the girls in a subway station; it's the cover the US is using. I don't know where Madman pulled this one from, I've not seen it before. I do hope they use this cover.

It was part of the keyart we received. I decided to use this one as it conveyed a more true to movie type of image. Fingers Crossed the producers are ok with it.
