When it comes to Tv-series I'm getting the last volume of Witch hunter Robin, I've started on Ghost in the shell, NGE platinum (yeah I've got the box) and later I will pick up Paranoia agent.

I have some classic OVA (OAV) coming home also; both the Gundam 0080 DVD's, Orgus 02 and Battle angel =)

GITS SAC LE Vol #2 plus WHR Vols 2-6 get preordered as soon as my pay goes through, although I'm a little worried about the problems DVDPacific had.

I was the one who ordered it for him. Wink Still drooling Pete. Wink

I'm looking at the 08th Ms Team myself and I already have the ltd ed R1 Rahexphon box which it really cool. It just like Please Teacher for me. The first 1/2 of the dvd's are R4 and the 2nd half including the movie is R1.

I'll be receiving my replacement copy of Kaleido Star vol 3 in the next few weeks after an authoring or batch problem showed up.

I have on the the way from the US, the following:
Aura Battler Dunbine vol 7 with box
Project ARMS vol 10
Infinite Ryvius vol 6
Happy Lesson OVA

By the end of next month which I have pre-ordered.
Gundam Seed vol 1 with box
Ikki Tousen vol 1 with box
Wolf's Rain vol 2
Stratos 4 vol 2
Ai Yori Aoshi ~enishi vol 2 ltd ed
Initial D vol 7
Kaleido Star vol 4
.hack//Legend of the Twilight vol 2
.hack//Legend of the Twilight vol 3

I'm looking at adding the entire series of Dai-Guard for the order with Ai Yori Aoshi ~enishi vol 2 ltd ed. Either that or the Gunparade March series.

I'm going to start Collecting Universal Century Gundam...conveniently, Zeta Boxset is out very soon.

Also, I'll probably pick up the Getter Robo Armageddon: The Last Day Boxset at some time, too.

Here's just hoping ADV hurry up and get the License for Shin Getter Robo VS. Neo Getter...sure, it might be a Remake of Getter Robo Go: but it still rules.

It depends on the series and how much patience we have for it. For me, I'm getting Madmans release of Gad Guard and Last Exile at present and can't be bothered importing it. Also MM's cover of Last Exile is better looking than its R1 counterpart.
A lot of the series that I do have from the US, is either titles that MM hadn't licensed at the time, won't be licensing or have extra's that wont be feasable for MM to release with locally, but which I want.

December is gonna be a real quiet month for me. It's January that's gonna be the killer. All are confirmed.

December
Duel Parallel Trouble Boxset
Kiddy Grade 5/6

January
Initial D 9
Kiddy Grade 7/8
Wolf's Rain 4/5
Stratos 4 vol 4
Dragon Drive 4/5
Gundam SEED 4-7
Project ARMS 12
Dai Guard Boxset
Ikki Tousen 3
Aura Battler Dunbine 8-11

That's at least 22 dvd's for January.
Possibilities
Kaleido Star season 2 - Don't know if it'll start in January
Yu Yu Hakusho Dark Tournament Boxsets 1 and 2
Marmalade Boy box 2
Lunar Legend Tsukihime

Mr. Green with envy!

I am still trying to get together the original Mobile Suit Gundam series.

Otherwise my only region 1 stuff will be the Gunparade March complete collection (in a tin apparently!) and a live action Japanese giant mecha movie called Gunhed.

I am seriously thinking about getting Dokkoida and Guyver region 1 but would prefer to get them region 4 if Madman will ever release them.

Infact, the overlays they used for all of the Japanese text, barring the OP and ED.

Kei - X TV boxes? Does that mean... it's finally getting a perfect collection release? Nice. Smile

*Adds that to wishlist to remind himself*

Amazon are selling volumes 1-15 of CCS for about US$270 (plus shipping)... an offer they've had for a while. I don't know why they left the last few volumes out.

However, when I ordered this they came in a solid shrink-wrapped "brick" and a number of the cases had cracked.

In any case, that may be the way to go. Then you'll also have spares of CCS 1-3 and you can get somebody else hooked. Smile

besides the way you describe how you recieved your order doesn't seem to convincing, none of the cases of any dvd i've order from dvdpacific have arived damaged (and i've ordered a fair few from there)

Once upon a time R1 DVD's that cost an arm and a leg (Mostly $60 Australian or so) may have been worth it, for Australian releases are usually half a year behind the US, if not years or even never.

Now that the release margin is narrowed by mere 2 months at worst, it would hardly seem worth it to spend and arm and a leg when you can get two R4 Aussie made titles for the same price. Wink

Shipping is also relativly cheap. Sometimes though, it's not the time that makes people import. Things such as availability (lack of licenses) and technical specifications (Madman not fixing a paticular disc for a long time, a Siren/Shock release, etc), still justify importation.

Another related region issue.

Sure, Region 1 Anime DVDs are cool and all, as most of our beloved medium is.

However, when you feel generous enough to lend DVD's to a beloved friend to introduce him (or her, for that matter) to anime, therein lies the dilenmma.

Well, duh, Ronin, someone may say, most DVD players are Multi-Region now.

Well, most, but not all are multi regioned. There are still options in places like JB Hi-Fi's for ye potential DVD watcher to buy cheaper players at the price of being only able to watch Region 4 Discs.

Heck, such is the dilenmma with 3 of my current friends.

Oh, sure, one can always invite mates over for a R1 DVD night, but just as a matter of sharing your discs with said mates at everyone's convenience and leisure, waiting a tad longer for R4 is still the way to go.

That said, the occasional Collectible Figurine or US Exlusive CD still opens the occasional R1 DVD up as a viable option.... Wink

Then it's about time they go and got a region free DVD player then?? (most DVD players allow you to preset the region, so I'd inform them of that and give them appropriate steps to do so).

And would you PLEASE stop OVER-DRAMATISING the most simplest of answers and posts. It doesn't make you look "deep and insightful", it does not make you "witty and cultural", it makes you incredibly annoying to read given the chance you actually HAVE something worth reading.

Preference or not, give it a break!

(Also if Madman to release Shaman King and Saint Seiya, I would have bought them. I didn't, therefore importing is fine. Stop posting about it).

97% of dvd players are multi-regional (and those that defaulty don't usually have some sorta code you need to put in to change it) so if they don't have multiregional dvdplayers they miss out to bad whatever besides roninaquilla your posting off topic and your post serves no purpose to this thread

also there are many anime that have R1 releases that will never see the light of day as a R4 release so waiting is not always an option if there is never going to be a release

i've never had a problem with a friend not able to watch an R1 release since all my friends have multiregional dvd players (well except one but he doesn't have any dvdplayer so thats despite the point ) so your example/dilema doesn't exist for me and im sure most people have multiregional players so your dilema is a rare case

Personally, if a title I'm interested in is scheduled for R4 release, I'll wait for the R4 release. There's usually other titles to hold my attention in the meantime.

I make exceptions to this if the Australian release is exceptionally dire or if I already have most of the series in R1 at the time the R4 release is announced.

Very rarely I get the R4 even if I have the R1 release. Mostly this has happened with Ghibli movies, or with series which I've just started getting when the R4 release is announced. In those cases I usually give the R1 DVD to somebody in my family.

The preponderance of multiregion players is exaggerated. Based on my experiences in lending DVDs to people at my office, around 95% of movie buffs have multi-region players, but only 60% or so of the general population. Most people don't know to ask when they buy their first player, and not all players have a software menu to change the region setting.
