I'm going through the manga of this now and was interested in getting the DVDs, but i found out that there is no boxset.

What is the DVD count at to now? 13?

at $30 a pop, it seems like an expensive investment. And I'm confused about the progression of events in this series with all the stages, movies, etc.

1. 1st Stage is the first series. (duh)
2. Extra Stage is the OVA and if I haven't forgotten anything can be watched anytime after 1st stage
3. 2nd Stage is the second series.
4. 3rd Stage is the movie and should be watched after the first and second series.
5. Battle Stage is basically a recap of all the races thus far.
6. 4th stage is the latest series which will finish soon.
7. Live Action movie, from what I gather is a stand-alone to the rest.

Cheers.

I did some looking around and i can see it breaks down like this:

1st stage = 26 episodes (spread across 12 DVDs, which seems a little extreme)
2nd stage = 13 episodes
3rd stage = 114 min long feature
4th stage = 16 episodes
Battle stage = 40 min OAV
Extra stage = 2 x 27 min OAV

Sounds like an awful lot.... might just wait for the boxsets. Might just get 3rd stage as a taster.

Extra stage doesn't really add anything to the plot except for the fact that Takumi isn't the first to defeat Team Emperor.

Is 3rd Stage available on DVD in Australia?

I've looked around the net, and can't find any details as to whether it has been released.

dues, that boxset you saw was the 1st 3-5 volumes of the series covering the 1st couple of races..

1st stage 26 episodes
2nd stage 13 episodes
3rd stage movie
4th stage 24 episodes

the start 2nd stage start's on volume 9 if i'm not not mistaken, battle 10-13 is the rest of 2nd stage, battle 14 is extra stage...
