^_^

The first time around is the hardest for something that size. Like everything you have to way the pro's and con's and how you ultimately feel about a title. I do the list every 6 months or so, so that when new titles come in, I can start to compare it to the others and if good enough, then have the fun of deciding which should lose its spot.

I guess I'll have a go. In no particular order:

* Scrapped Princess
* Rurouni Kenshin (seasons 1 and 2)
* Fullmetal Alchemist
* Planetes
* Cowboy Bebop
* Cardcaptor Sakura
* You're Under Arrest

I mainly went on overall story. YUA doesn't really have an overall story arc, but it is otherwise quite enjoyable.

I'm not sure I can put any order on my favourites, but going by the ones I rewatch the most, I get

Jing: King of Bandits. (often just the 3rd DVD, sometimes just the 1st)
It's an easy series to just pick one dvd out of to watch.

Ninja Scroll: The series is also one I watch a bit as it's a fairly short series and I love the one liners in it. : )

Then going by ones I have re-watched a bit/feel like I wouldn't mind re-watching now

Trigun (Often just the first few DVD's)
Initial D
Hoop Days (though I wish the 2nd session had been made into anime or at least an english manga version. I want to see Kazuhiko and Ponytail get together! ;p )
Angelic Layer
Heat Guy J
Full Metal Panic!
Scrapped Princess
GTO (Watched all 10 DVD's twice the week after I got it)
Samurai Champloo
Chance Pop Session
Saiyuki Collections 1 and 2 were great, but the change in english voice actors in the Reload collection has soured it for me.

There are other series I really liked but don't feel have as much re-watch value for me so I won't mention em.

Oh, do have to mention Tekkaman Blade.
Oh, and Robotech. At least the first story line. Have brought but haven't got around to watching Masters or New Generations.

And at the moment, while I did quite like Fafner, I like the opening music/song from it even more. Found it hard to stop looping that song and move onto the other Anime I got in the Oct sale.

Come on, Serial experiments LAIN is just as much of a head case as Evangelion series + movies. You can't go past Code Geass, and the Tenchi collection and I'm not just talking about the two newest ones I'm talkin bout Tenchi universe, In Tokyo, GXP files and the Mihoshi/Pretty Sammy compilation, not to mention the Full Metal Panic series, Fumoffu and the Second Raid, Trinity Blood, Hellsing Ultimate.

I'm going to update my top 50 over the next couple of weeks. It all depends on several titles that are currently between here and the US.

So what are the changes that make this different to my last one. Well there was 10 titles that were booted out of the top 50 and 3 new titles that made it in the top 10.

The difference between No.1 and No.50 is all based on instincts and the removal of a good few was based on how good the others replacing them were.

Ones removed:

Aquarion
Mars Daybreak
Kenshin
Ai Yori Aoshi
Dragon Drive
Golden Boy
Vexille
Godannar
Le Chevalier D'Eon
Angelic Layer

Ones that I almost put or kept in the top 50:

Kenshin
Shonen Onmyoji
Argento Soma
The World of Narue

By the way Jester just wanted to ask if you know the word over board. lol.

With the amount of dvd's I have, a top 50 is a better gauge than a top 10. I have between 1200 and 1300 anime dvd's covering some 200 or so titles and I feel that a top 50 is best suited for something like that. I did do a top 10 once, but my dvd collection just grew quickly and I wanted to recognise the titles that while they weren't top 10, I still regarded very highly of.

Well for one I couldn't believe you'd knock out Godannar over Requiem from the darkness? Seriously the story line on Requiem is pretty good however the attention to the style and level of detail to the drawings shot it down in my books, not saying that it was a total loss however maybe if they gave it a better look about it, it might have attracted more people to the series.

The other thing to is that you have Gundam Seed Destiny in the list and titles like Howl's Moving Castle and Kiki's delivery service yet you didn't give Lelouch of the Rebellion: Code Geass a mention considering it one of the latest and leading anime's out there at the moment, at this point though I would like to give props to Gurren Lagann for originality towards the mecha genre also My Hime inc. My-Z-Hime: My Otome.

I have the entire first season of Code Geass, but am going to wait till I have the entire 2nd season before I'll watch the eps that I've missed. By word from a member that I respect, he says that the first season has a non ending which is consistant with the 2nd season having been done and if I watch the eps, I may say it's worse than it may be. Truthfully I never considered Code Geass as a top 50, but that may change after I've watched season 2.

As for Godannar and Requiem From the Darkness. Godannar had some fun and nostalgic elements, but Requiem From the Darkness was a lot more brutal in its depictions artwork and story wise. A title doesn't have to have a big fan base for it to be good.

I'm satisfied with how I have the top 50. Most of the top 50 are so close to each other, that I could switch their positions around without much fuss on my part.

Wow, 2005 was the last time i posted a list in this thread O_O and thus was my list then

speedfreek19 wrote:
well mine are

Ah! My Goddess (no surprise there XD)

R.O.D the TV and OVA

Mezzo DSA

Happy Lesson

i guess Please Teacher, may have to watch the series again XD

umm oh

El Hazard - Magnificent World, thats awesome IMO

Please/Onegai Twins (take your pic as to which title you prefer lol) so far i like it

i prolly have others but thats it for now

I'll try for a top 5, if i'm lucky, maybe 10

1. Ah! My Goddess (nothing has changed much Razz)
2. El Hazard: The Magnificent World
3. Kannagi (A new entry and i think a worthwhile spot, though kinda tossing up with El Hazard for 2nd place, granted it has had that spot for some time now)

Here's where things get tricky, i'll have to try and remember the shows as well but here they are in some kind of order

4. Please Teacher (with Please twins getting an honorary equal 4th)
5. Read Or Die (TV & OVA)
6. Steel Angel Kurumi (season 1)
7. Kiddy Grade
8. Shining Tears X Wind
9. Mai HiME
10. You're Under Arrest (while one of my all time favourites, it's just one of those shows you can kick back and enjoy but never had any great impact on me, well as much as the others have)

Have to say though that Kannagi will be a long lasting title in the list, where as others seem to rise and fall (and even fall off), Last show i managed to do an all day marathon was Shining Tears X Wind which i rather enjoyed and that at the very least earns a top 10 just because I loved it at the time, wouldn't mind watching it again at some point.

Kannagi, much like the other top 2 in the list, will hold a special place in my heart with me.

There are some massive lists here and a lot of stuff that I've only ever heard of...
I grew up with Dragon Ball Z re-runs, Zoids and Pokemon and love them dearly but my favourites at the moment would have to be:
- Code Geass (both seasons)
- GITS Stand Alone Complex
- Samurai Champloo
- Tenjou Tenge (despite the lack of ending)
- Fate/ Stay Night
- Cowboy Bebop

As far as movies go...
- Vampire Hunter D (both)
- Akira
Most Ghibli movies... oh and the Cowboy Bebop movie was pretty darn good, along with Beyond the Clouds.

5. Ghost in the Shell Stand Alone Complex -both series (I will count them as one)

Yes there is a lot of Studio Gonzo titles in there, but I like Studio Gonzo.

Favourites would be Neon Genesis Evangelion, Akira and Samurai X (Rurouni Kenshin OVA).

Anyone else watch NGE when it was originally aired on SBS in 1998?
