This thread will be deicated to the anime/manga known as onepiece. it won't just be about the anime because i am not going to start a thread in each different forum. do what are your experiences with one piece. Never heard of it, let the informed fill you in. have you done a onepiece cosplay lets see. have you got any anime and how far in the manga have you read. Post away people and may the seven gods of pirating be merciful on your souls.

I've seen up to episode 126. You got to love a show which just thows in the 4th movement of the New World Symphony when a powerful villain is defeated to make the moment extra special.

But yeah, One Piece is one of the best shows around.

One Piece is my ultra favourite show/manga! I used to be a Dragon Ball nut (still am but not as much) but now I love One Piece more.
I'm up to date with the manga and I've seen bits and pieces of the anime and movie 2.
Great show.

I prefer the manga, its hellava lot more stylish and is obviously the original (I find the anime deviates, and has shocking quality issues at times)

I like all the characters they're just so likeable Smile

also the one piece world is so huge, with so many background stories, hints, and characters its so awe inspiring...really well thought through manga....

While I haven't seen it, it seems to be quite popular in Japan, the section for it was as large as Prince of Tennis and Naruto at Animate stores (since Animate specialise in Shonen Jump titles).

It seems interesting, except I don't have time to watch a show this long XD

The anime will be airing on cartoon network here next year, from what I've been told.

I've read some of the manga and I thought it was great. First Volume in Japanese, it was one of my favourite.

grrrrr 4kids is not very good to put it lightly. they edit everything to make it kiddy. it just won't be the same to see ban beckman stick the mountain pirates in the eye with a candy cane.

Screw that, get the Japanese version and watch it the way it was supposed to be seen.

Can't wait to see your costume completed. Though you will have to keep in mind that when you cosplay Shanks, remember not to use your left arm Razz

Well i have never seen the original naruto subs but onepiece is made by the same company so it is very likely yes. the animation in one piece is simply outstanding. it is soo smooth. i love hearing luffy yelling out
gomu gomu no pistoruuuu
and punching alvida in the gut and sending her out into space. i yelled with excitment when i first saw that. ^_^

No, Luffy and Naruto have different VA's. Luffy is voiced by Mayumi Tanaka and Uzumaki Naruto is vioced by Junko Takeuchi another tallented VA.

One Piece is made by Toei (Dragonball series, Saint Seiya) and Naruto is done by Studio Pierrot. (Yu Yu Hakusho, Fushigi Yugi) Just about industry rivals.

When I was in Tokyo this year, I was at some shopping centre near Odaiba and came across a large Shounen JUMP store, which was selling heaps of stuff from the Dragonball series, Prince of Tennis, One Piece, Naruto and some others. They had several hundred different pins of One Piece alone...

I also saw a full size replica of the One Piece ship sailing around the harbour in Odaiba (PIC - pic not by me) with music and dialogue blasting out - I have no idea what exactly they do or what's on it, but it looks cool. Very Happy

I have a few question about this:

Are they still keeping Zoro name spelt as Zoro and not Zolo...it must be a error in the printing if it's Zolo because they started spelling it Zoro which is cool but in vol 5 I think is Zolo for some strange reason...it must be a mistake since when do you change a name of a character through until vol 5...must be wrong because even shonen jump magazine is spelt Zoro.

Well Roronoa Zoro to be exact. Very Happy

Second question:
What IS the ONE Piece? They don't say what the One Piece treasure IS.
All I know is that everybodies looking for it on the grandline but never return alive or return as almost brain dead zombies through to soo much pain and suffering.

But this doesn't bother luffy...but still want to find the one piece.
But no one has seen it or says what it is.
Even the devil fruit is big treasure so the devil fruit must also be one of it's treasures...oops I think I should use spoiler tags.

Use spoiler tags if you know what it is since I've only read up to about volume 5 or something.
But this is a very big series to collect in manga form since it's as long as dragonball or Naruto which is like 30 volumes or something.

Third question:
Is this series still going in japan and how many volumes long so far.

Oh and where is Red hair Shanks gone to?

Oh and my favourite character is Zoro...and by the way nice Zoro cosplay out fit...if I did some cosplay I would probably do Zoro as well but I need three swords and a black bandana and a shirt like Zoro but getting that green like thing around the waist would be hard to get.
Well the bad things about cosplay is matching the characters outfit to be precise and exactly the same is hard...but you look cool.

To be shanks you have to have Shanks old hat that he gave to Luffy...which is Luffy hat now, but promise to mind it for him.

You also have to have a cape to cover he's missing arm aswell.

well that was a mouthful.
as for Zoro/Zolo question
The anime produced by 4kids changed the name to zolo for some reason. This had provoked viz to make Zoro zolo in the manga instead. but since Shonen Jump manga is ussually just directly translated from the japanese version of the magazines. to add to this, all paperback editions of 1-4 will henceforth be reffered to as Zolo. phew

What the onepiece itself is under great debate. Gol .D Rogers exact words were "my treasure why it's right where i left it". this dosen't give away a single clue as to the contents. it may contain the devil fruit it may be nothing just the satisfaction of making it to the grand line. and becoming the king of pirates.

This may require a lil background info on the grandline.
1. the grand line is indeed a set of aproximatley 6 lines moving form island to island like different tracks.
2.to navigate you need a special compass called a eternity post if i recall <tell me if i'm wrong> which points to the next island once you get to the first one.

for your third question yes onepiece is still going at volume number 35. i have issue 34 in japanese and all i can say is this. just to tease you. luffy looks awesome in an afro. hehe

shanks makes a brief appearence in the manga after zoro's fight with mihawk where mihawk aproaches shanks and his crew and shows how much beri <currency> is on luffy's head and they have a party.

thanks for the tips on the cosplay i apreciate it. i am yet to make the cape and i am playing shanks as he was before he lost his arm. so he will still have his straw hat. it would be too hard to walk around with one arm all day.

SO the One piece is still a mystery hey!...figures!

But 35 volumes...boy this has got to brake the bank and almost as long as Dragonball which is 42 volumes.

I think any manga that goes over 30 is a success but to collect it takes a life time to get official english translation novels...since where so behind and so slow.

there's soo many manga I want that also have big volume numbers which is gonna make me cringe at the thought of trying to collect them all.

There has to be and end soon to the series...manga never usually goes over 40+ or even 50+ but there's always the first.

Well onepiece is only just starting to peak in popularity in japan. so i would say that it may take while but there may be a few aftermath volumes. aaaand if it goes in the direction of Dragonball we might get a next generation kind of thing. which would be so cool.
Also just seen the 4kids trailer. i almost threw up when i saw it. literally.

Ahh yes... One Piece. MY ABSOLUTE OBSESSION!!! Very Happy Very Happy

*cough* Yes, OP is a great show; orignal, moving, and with the best humor XD
I'm currently reading the manga, but I'm only up to the Skypeia Arc. I have seen up to episode 111 of the anime, but haven't been able to get hold of anymore episodes.

I was all like O_o when I saw what 4Kids has done to it, though. I mean, they replace guns with super-soakers and cork-guns! What kid is going to believe that marines and pirates carry water and cork guns?!
And they replaced Sanji's cigarette with a lollipop. ;;

OH No Don't tell me the anime is RUINED...figures....any thing that gets sent to america and translated is SHOT to PIECES and made for pre-school kids.

One Piece is a very BLOODY manga which I mean contains a lot of blood and fight scenes...but cutting out blood and replacing guns with cork guns...is ridiculous...there has to be an UNCUT version for SURE otherwise they ruin it for sure.

There's one scene were Zoro cuts himself when fighting that clown guy in volume 2 or is it 3....but there would normally be BLOOD right...is the blood cut out.

It's like OOOH I cut myself LOOK NO BLOOD...it's been censored out. Rolling Eyes

The anime maybe good but censorship is gonna kill it like FUNimation did to Dragonball Z.

Boy I can see Naruto ending up the same thing but I've seen how much is censored and it's NOT TOO bad.

I can see why people are getting japanese versions of these anime's because they don't want it ruined by censorship.

So far no dubbing company have been given rights to Naruto.

It will never be 4Kids due to the violent content, and although I don't doubt Funimation may get it, I am surprised they already haven't. Perhaps we will be lucky and Naruto will be left alone.

i allways thought that shaman king would never be licenced by 4Kids. i mean it allways seamed a lil bit more risque then onpiece or naruto. i mean lyserg <looks like a chick> proves his manhoodedness with the simplest way posible. (use your imagination) i don't see how they will transpose that

Well GOOD NEWS about Shaman King...there's UNCUT releases coming out in R1 format

Shaman King is by Funimation so and UNCUT is expected and original japanese dialog and MUSIC...which is good if your a shaman king fan.

I saw Shaman King while having a holiday in America and saw it on Cartoon Network over there and it's quite good and exactly like the manga...so at least one shonen jump magazine manga/anime has gone really well when it comes to dubing and original uncut versions.

I can't wait to see One Piece anime and see what the characters are like in anime form and what there voices sound like.

When I saw YugiOh! in it's anime form for the first time it sounded a little weird when I heard Yugi's alter ego voice...it's SO deep and he's original voice is so soft and quite...which is a little off putting at first because how can one character have totally too different voices with different tone to each other.

And I'm sure everyone would rejoice, since breast enlargments seem to be one trademark of One Pieces animation and since we all love One Piece it all ties in nicely...

Yeah so what...I tried to add some content >_>
