From Anime News Network
Quote:
Geneon Entertainment has announced on Wednesday that it has begun distributing anime songs on Apple's iTunes Store online in 22 countries in North America, Europe, and the Pacific Ocean region. The selection includes Shakugan no Shana's opening theme song "being" by KOTOKO, Shakugan no Shana Second's opening theme song "Joint" by Mami Kawada, and Black Lagoon's opening theme song "Red Fraction" by MELL.

So there you go. The songs are available on Itunes Australia so go grab them. itunes songs are also now drm free.

footnote - Posting this as a general news piece, Madman have nothing to do with this initiative.

I'm not sure they've actually implimented that yet; I checked this morning and some songs show up as iTunes+ and some don't. You can upgrade DRM'd songs to iTunes+ for US 30cents a song later on, but yeah.

Apparently all songs will be DRM-free by April.

There's been some JPop on the AU store for a while, actually. Go to Browse -> Music -> world -> Japanese Pop.

Artists including Bonnie Pink, Gackt, Genki Rockets, B'z, BoA, Utada Hikaru, Pizzicato Five, The 5678s, Chihiro Onitsuka and Kotoko all have songs and albums there, and you don't even need a Japanese iTunes account to buy them.

*bops a rez*
They apparently still haven't made everything on the local iTMS DRM free. Also not enoughs available. Browsing through, once you manage to find that link, the artist listing suggests there's a lot of good stuff that we're missing, L'Arc-en-Ciel, move/m.o.v.e, etc.

Then there's the soundalikes, the Animesong Collection of albums ain't bad and has a tolerable cover of God Knows. Then if that ain't good enough there's Mikuni Shimokawa's combo of both ED/OP covers and her own ED/OPs.

Also be aware content on the store is known to unexpectedly vanish for no apparent reason. Not to mention be organized wrongly. MELL, she of the songs of Black Lagoon & Shakugan no Shana song will and is tied to Mell a french jazz band.
