Not all the time. Sometimes, we'll go out to a racing course and have some fun. But, when we do go out on public roads, we're all really careful. Well, I am. Can't say the same for some of the clowns that hang around at Tambourine. And we only race at like, 2:00am. When there's no one around.

got some new tires this week as the tread on my old ones were wearing dangerously low.

before i had falken ST115's which were an awesome tire and lasted me ~30,000 kms. now i have falken ZE329's which are pretty much the newer version of the ST115's. the size of both tires are 225/40 R18. now i can actually go around corners in the wet. Razz

sooooo, dad finaly got his audi rs4 this today Very Happy very very impressed and very very happy with it. didn't get to drive in it on the way home from the dealership as i had to drive my own car home. but just by following it home i noticed how wide the car is and how awesome the HID lights are. sounds awesome on idle too Very Happy

so we got home, had tea etc etc and then dad and me hop in the car. in regards to the seats, guys have to be very careful with one particular body part that hangs Shocked because of the very high parts on the sides of the seat. i was so concerned about my 'boys' that i smacked my head on the a pillar getting in and still got myself in the process anyway Confused . but once in the seats! they hug you like no tomorrow, very comfy too. very spiffy in side too, heaps of space, sat nav, all leather, carbon fibre trim, that sexy lambo steering wheel etc. so we end up going for a drive.

the ride is very smooth and comfortable (especially considering the poor conditions of our roads up here) , not jarring or rough like mine. but chuck it into a corner and there is hardly any body roll and the tires stick to the road like superglue. couldn't really ring its heart out because it's still running in, need about 1000 kms before you can start to open her up. but dad still had bit of a play with what he could under 4000 rpm. also had a play with the sports 's' button where by turning it on makes the drivers seat adjust and hug you more, improves throttle response and opens the exhaust up more via flaps that usually block off certain sections of it. again, couldn't really notice much of a difference because of running it in.

then dad shocked me by pulling over and letting me drive for alittle bit! the steering feels a little heavy mainly because of the width of the huuuge wheels (255/30 R19 i think!) but still surprising light for a car that size and very directional. the clutch takes sometime getting use to cause it's so damn soft. softer then mine in the wrx!

but all in all, awesome car. i drove home and still managed to get myself again getting out of the car. can't wait till it's fully run in Twisted Evil so we have to get the kms up on it so we are going for a good drive this sunday Very Happy will see if i can get some pictures up of it soon

i also managed to get my car down the strip again recently. got a better result then last year when i was out there. did a couple of runs and the best was a 14.6 @ 100 mph with reaction time of around 0.750 and 60 footer of 2.2. only did a 15.5 last year. so now i just got to work on the take off/60 footer and reactions times and i should be able to get it lower Very Happy

ok im done now, imma gonna get some sleep Smile

Part of me was crying when I saw the latest subaru car catalogue a few days back and noticed how botched the impreza's look now. The libertys though are looking better all the time.

Totally. Especially the "Tuned by STi" one... those wheels... do want.

The new Impreza is a strange one. It sometimes looks good from certain angles, sometimes totally awful from others. It's not exactly a consistent design...

too bad about the asking price for those one, about $72k iirc, but very nice indeed with all the extra goodies. plus they were a limited run thing with only about 400 made so getting one now would be pretty hard. plus for that kinda money you could start at looking at getting something little bit better and european.

madmangohan wrote:

i sat in a black liberty gt spec b the other day and it was very nice, inside and out. had all the possible options you could get too.

test drove the new wrx a little while back too. i was kinda surprised that with the new smooth 'spinal-cord-friendly' ride that it wouldn't be too good around corners....wrong! stuck to them pretty well for a stock one. and the power comes on so smoothly too, doesn't have that 'hit 3000 rpm and snap-your-neck' kick anymore or it's just not as noticable. no more annoying brant keypad but there was a numerial keypad tucked up under the steering wheel but didn't play with that. all in all, some people might like it but im not one of them. it's a good car stand-alone but it just doesn't have that edge anymore like the previous models did.

i was invited back to test drive the new sti when the test model came in but haven't been back around yet. my main gripe with the sti so far is that we only get a single scroll turbo/2.5L while the Japanese spec one has twin scroll standard/2.0L. Confused twin scroll standard would be so awesome. the sti looks ok but.....why 5 door hatchback? would be so much better looking as a 3 door hatchback.

Oh okay, thanks for info. I haven't really been into anime releases lately so I wasn't sure if Initial D was finished being released or not.

well, bugger. even though i've seen all of 4th stage already (as have most other people) it would still be nice to have them released.

I took it as a compliament that all the RAA guys said it was a tidy little bus.

It's just old...and wearing out

I put mags on mine a while ago, I like them. 'Twas a fluke finding them. I'd been tossing between both the plain 5 star and the "twin line" 5 star for months, then saw a car in my complex with these, which convientently uses both. Tracked them down and brought them. Aren't they gorgeous? Smile

And yes, the mid90's Accords are normally very high. Lowering just makes them look normal. This anoys me.

In other news, the family car has been in an argument with a pole. Both lost with lots of front damage Sad $$ Apparently street lights cost $2,000. Ty for insurance!

Oh, and the other family car got a letter from the government saying it's blowing lots of smoke and people complained XD It's an excel, it's existance is a complaint.

I'm looking to buy a hatch AWD or compact SUV next year. Some examples of what I'm after: Suzuki SX4, Impreza hatch, RAV4 etc.

Something 5-door, good fuel consumption and can fit a 50kg dog or two in the back (As in the boot). Anyone own any mentioned above or similar?

Also needs to be within $30k. Don't mind buying second hand.

I envy one of my friends, he bought himself a Delorean.
Although he's going to improve it in all various ways, like give the steering better response, stronger engine, better suspension and a Back to the Future looking dash board.
No flux capacitor included unfortunately.

A woman at work had a RAV4, when she had her baby she found it was too small to fit in pram + shopping etc so she went for a bigger SUV. The thing about the compact SUVs is they don't actually have that much space, their only advantage is the height...

A friend had an Impreza stationwagon, seemed pretty good. AWD and 4cyl engine for economy so it might hit the sweet spot.

We've got a Subaru Outback which is absolutely brilliant (Outbacks are just Liberty stationwagons jacked up a few cm), the previous body style seems good too, and wouldn't be expensive nowadays. Might be a bit big for your tastes though.

Remembering of course that compact 4WDs are actually made for (read: marketed for) wild young things who go to the beach on weekends. They are not designed for a family car. Hell, even the Toorak Tractors aren't really "family" cars, but they sell to the "soccer mum" type anyway.

Haruko-san wrote:

I dunno about the RAV4 but from what I've seen they're basically a Suzuki Vitara, only bigger. I also have nfi about 5-door Suzuki Vitaras, especially the new ones, but the older 3-doors don't have a great deal of room. It's fine for just me and a passenger (though one day we had 4 people and 2 dogs in it, along with an assortment of eskys and waterbottles....squish. For everyone else anyway Smile )
Apparently the newer Vitaras are a bit lower and a bit wider then the older model (which what I own). New I think they go for around 25K or so. There's always some being advertised 2nd hand in the trading post though.Plus they're a reliable little machine and will go until the cows come home.
Looking at Suzuki Australia's Webpage the hatch you mentioned goes for 20K, easily within your budget.
Your best bet would be to go to a dealership and actually look at one close up to see if it's the right size for you.

Excuse me, I'm going to drool over the new vitara pictures now.

or you could get a wrx wagon Very Happy they are still pretty fuel efficent in stock form and look heaps more sexier plus little more punch. just make sure if looking at a stock one to get a mechanic to look over it too make sure it actually is/was 'stock'.

I have recently purchased a 2001 model Nissan Pulsar ST. 1.8 litre engine, silver in colour and all round a wonderful car to drive. It is a manual of course. No real mod plans for it but I an going to get some mags within the next few months if I can afford them. I am surprised at just how fast it can go when I put my foot down, the acceleration is brilliant, even in 4th gear. I shall post a picture in a day or two and then you can all drool over it. Razz

Even without the flux capacitor a Delorian would still be a hell of a car and make a huge impression. Is it is right hand drive model? I didn't think that it was a car that was released in Australia.

Yep he's getting that and not sure what side the drive is on have to ask him.
Also he lives in UK so easier to get hold of one of them.

Edit: It's left hand drive model btw.

went to the audi roadshow that's in town for a week or so this morning hehehe Very Happy on offer for a test drives are s3, a5, s5, s6, s8, q7, tt-s and a tt convertable. well over half a million dollars worth of cars all parked up on the side of the road, looked awesome.

took the s3 for a run for about an hour. surprised that the dealer just let me take it and wasn't internested in coming along. awesome car to drive with plenty of pull and firm but not bone-garring ride. i was surprise also at the amount of room inside for a 3 door hatch. im about 105kgs and i was really comfy inside the car. everything about it is finished off so well.

also rode passanger in the s5 coupe as dad drove it. it has the same v8 as the rs4 but puts out less power and dad said you could really notice it. it was a nice car but it's nothing compaired to the rs4. just didn't have the response and free reving that the rs4 has. being a coupe, the inside was alittle cramped even though it's a pretty big car. most of the buttons, dials and bits and pieces where actually located around the gear stick on the centre console instead of up on the centre dash and made it look very confusing. also, front seats seem to angled slightly to the centre of the car while the stearing wheel was offset to the right slightly, same with the pedals which almost made the clutch feel like it was the middle pedal. overall, alittle disspointing but still a good car in it's own right.

would of liked to take some of the other cars (the tt-s and the q7 just for syphillis and giggles) out too but they were alittle busy so couldn't do so. but i was told i could book the s3 again for a second testdrive if i wanted to which i just might do cause me likey alot........Very Happy

I remember seeing some cars done up like that in Akihabara (only with less detail). Kinda wish I took pictures of them now.

Wait... I did get one it seems

Totally reminded me of the smile I got for about a week when I kept seeing this Red Lancer drive by with a young Gohan on the back of the boot.

A car at work has those Blade ones. I can't decide if I like them or not. They're very interesting to look at, at least...

well all i can say is hat my fave ones are the "Storms" in the suv/4wd section but thae only go on landcruisers, not the terrotry like i want (not like i could that). but what i do know botu them is that they are an australian company that makes top quality wheels and we should always buy localy.

*resses!*

so i recently got my passenger side rear door fixed on the subie after it had an arguement with a wall in the carpark behind work. can't believe how much i missed my car after driving the suzuki swift around for a week.

so now that i have the door fixed, im going to give it a good clean (wash, clay bar, polish, wax) and take it to get it valued for trade in.

hehehehe Very Happy

From what I understand Swifts are generally considered to be RS by anyone's standard, Suzuki do nice little 4WDs (provided you're about the size of your average asian and not at giant caucasian) but they should stick to those and leave the small sedans to toyota.

At least, that's the impression I get from others, not having had occasion to sit in one of their cars. I'll stick to my Vitara.

i will admit that the swift was extremely good on fuel, even though it runs on BP 98 ron ultimate (cause funnly enough, thats what it says to use in the manual *shrug*)

i reckon i used just as much fuel in the first two days i had the subie back when compared to how much the swift used in the whole week i had it.

and the swift is an auto, seriously. hate. autos. it's easier to speed in the swift then it is to in the subie. maybe cause i usually gauge what speed im going in the subie by feeling what gear, engine note and induction noise Razz

Due to an unfortunate right off of my sis's car, I've been upgraded from a 1988 1 Litre 3 cylinder manual Daihatsu Charade to a 1994 2.2 Litre 4 cylinder auto Toyota Camry <<
...it isn't exactly the next step I was planning, but its certainly a step up.
Need to get a cd player and some new speakers for it though Confused

Camry's are pretty good, better looking than an 80's charade but still fairly plain looking specially for a '94 model lol

At least now you have more room to cart around people/your own junk =D
