I am wondering whether there are any anime games on computer (Non-hentai or dating sims). Because I know there are a fair few on the Playstation 2. I would like to know because I am a great fan of games and anime, both are my greatest passions. Please help me Anyone! I am desperate to know. Thank you! Very Happy (P.S I know there is a store in china town that sells anime computer games in chinese or japanese, I am interested in english, or at least english dubbed.) Thanks once again for any replies! Very Happy

I'm sure there are a few but I can tell you right now most of them are console based. My advice?? Grab a SNES for $20 at Cash Converters with a converter for NTSC games, go on Ebay & get some of the very best anime based video games ever released.

Get the Yu Yu hakusho game for the Mega Drive. It was made by Treasure, you know it's good.

There is quite a few Anime based games and games based on Anime the problem is that a lot of them never get released down here.

OMG! That old 4 player clobber-your-friends laughfest! Indeed, that's one of the best party games I've ever played.

But Yu Yu Hakusho for PS2 is a bloody disgrace. Worst fighting game I've played since the 3D Rurouni Kenshin for the old PS. .... No, actually, it's much, much worse. In fact, it makes Mortal Kombat 1 look like a work of art.

You'll be hard pressed to find any anime games on the PC that aren't fan made freeway games.

I just won a copy of Yu Yu Hakusho 2 for SNES (only $2.25AU with box & book). I've played the brilliant Megadrive version, but never the SNES releases so I don't know how different they are. For $2.25 I think I can afford to find out Smile
You might find the odd game at www.gametraders.com.au but they mainly stock PAL only. That didn't stop me finding Super Mario RPG, Chrono Trigger & a few others.

I also recommend Harvest Moon (I classify this as an anime game). It's on SNES, GB, GBC, GBA, Gamecube and PS2. Ok, so you're a farmer, but this game is strangely addictive and will take up half your life.

Online games: Ragnarok absolutely rocks! (even is it costs you $$$)

EDIT: it took me awile but i finally realised that you said PC games.

Download an emulator from the net and play Harvest Moon. I did and I play at least once a week and have the same save for over a year. (I have a wife, cows, sheep, chicken, holiday house, and a kid) I'm so totally addicted to it. Other than online, there's not much hope for you in this category.

These may not count to you but there are some pretty fun anime fan games made by one particular group who's name I honestly can't remember. What may assist you in the search is that they made an elfen lied fighting game and another called Super Cosplay War Ultra (Freeware games and that page has a download link to SCWU)

As for anime games with more depths I can't say. There are a few rpg's like Grandia 2 that have an anime theme going and apparently Oni was meant to be anime styled as well.

I think that my Super Robot Wars mention covered the "depth" part pretty damn well.

The "new" (for us, anyway) Ghost in the Shell:SAC game has gotten mixed reviews. It's a shame because I think there really is a market for the cyberpunk anime video game.

I was talking to this guy in Japan (he was about forty) and he said his favourite videogame was Oni.

It was like WTF? Oni was made by Bungie, a non-Japanese company. That's like sending coal to Newcastle...

Which is what makes it so cool. Very Happy

Oni is a fantastic tribute to anime, though.

Not a half-bad game, either.

they may not be pc games but for ps2

if you see a copy of either...
* Phantom Brave
* Disgaea
* La Pucelle Tactics
* Phantom Kingdoms (working title in english atm and not yet released down here)

snap them up quick smart as they are pretty rare in Aus. Not to mention that each have a fantastic storyline to them and great artwork/graphics. Fantastic games from Nipponichi/Koei . A word of warning tho being a Koei game they tend to be a little stat heavy.

Otherwise generally they are strategy/rpg style games like Final Fantasy Tactics gameplay wise but with more depth.

Only problem with them (tho this is probably just my bitching) is that the PAL (aus/europe releases) did not have the japanese voice tracks included.

to be honest tho if your that interested in Japanese games then you really need to get a ps2, gameboy and/or a gamecube as outside of japan unless its a best seller your going to be hard pressed to find any for the pc

I started playing that and instantly I screamed out "What the hell is Rally Vincent doing in my game?"

It's a good game once you get used to the controls.

I own some anime ps2 games; Naruto: Naruttimate hero 2 , Dragonball Z Budokai 1-3. Some good 'anime' like games for ps2 are anything for the Guilty Gear series, Zone of the Enders: The 2nd Runner like siad before
Phantom Brave ,Disgaea ,La Pucelle Tactics ,Phantom Kingdoms, Xenosaga & Devil May Cry is close enough to anime Laughing

Faust kicks Joe's arse any day of the week!!

The only Anime based game I have encountered would be the Ghost in the Shell game on PSone. A pretty generic mech-based shooter with some kick arse cut scenes.

Yeah but that so doesnt count, that anime was **** (No matter how much I wanted to like it Very Happy)

And still then thats an anime based off a game not a game based of an anime. You could say the same with Gungrave, excpet with that both the game and anime were good.

Don't listen to that insane person! The GUNGRAVE game was PATHETIC! I could not believe a game that bad could ever get released. The only thing it had going for it was some REALLY NICE VISUALS.

The game cost me $20, and I managed to sell it a week later for $15. I am STILL angry about how bad that game was. I mean I expect Budget titles to be of lower quality than the bigger releases, but Sheesh.

The anime looks to be worth a viewing however.

As for Anime Games on PC, I add another THUMBS UP for ONI. That game is STILL one of my favorite Action / Adventure games.

I expect you could also Count FF7+8 as well. If you do not count them, play them anyway. The Final Fantasy series are proof that God invented video games for Good, not evil. Smile

Good advice. Also allows you to import games that weren't released locally, like FFIII (VI). Plus you have the added bonus of actually owning the game, and can play it on your big screen TV.
Do not be fooled by remakes, they often 5ux0r.

That Faust thing is the stupidest VG Character I've ever seen.

And this is coming from a TimeSplitters: Future Perfect importer.

FF9 is the best ff game ever made, the sooner you all realise that the better the world will be.

Ill still fight you to the grave about that. FF9 is the last good ff game but its got nothing on FF8 and 7. Thought 9's story was good and Freya and Amarant are the 2 best characters.

Omg people are forgetting the tales series of games. And tales of eternia was turned into an anime even though it was a crap game. Tales of phantasia or tales of destiny should have been turned into a anime they would have made great shows. Seriously if u love old school rpgs with great storylines, loveable characters and a kick ass battle system go out and buy this game on ebay get a ntsc ps2 while ur at it. Trust me you wont regret it.

Finally the lufia is the most little known rpg series. They tell the story of the Maxim bloodline and how they are destined to rise up and defend the world from the onslaught of sinistrals. Though they have to make a sacrifice to do it. Its a classic typical rpg storyline but its the characters and their relationships to each other which draw the gamer into the world. These games arent made to be taken seriously and are fairly light hearted most of the time. Check it out if you can

Yeh...my Final Fantasy vote goes to FF8 over FF9...and then FF3/6 over all of them! Go FF3/6!

And I agree with Lionheart...the Tales games are awesome. Tales of Symphonia is one of my fave games ever made.

FF9 is better than FF7/8!!! The story kicks @ss! FF X/X-2 was...pathetic. I'm put off the newer FF games as SquareEnix really doesnt live up to Squaresoft. But Nippon Ichi really does make the best anime RPG out there (nowadays) I just got Phantom Brave and the storyline and gameplay is just amazing. I also own Disgaea which has one of the best RPG story endings I've ever watched (kind of). So yeh...
