First details have been announced for the Blood TV series

Here's a summary:
- It will be called "Blood +" (pronounced "Blood Plus")
- It's set in 2005
- Features all new character designs
- The story begins with Saya (our hero from the original I'm guessing) living with a family and having no memories older than one year.

Click the following link for further plot details and a first look at the new look Saya: http://www.productionig.com/project.php?id=52

Personally, I'm not too fond of the new look. The original had a very realistic look to the characters, and the new look is very... generic. Hopefully the story will be good though.

I prefer the designs of the OVA. This looks boring.

I may check this out when the time comes. Maybe.

I liked 'em...and the wrinkles above the bridge of her nose too.

So, Gally is still the reigning octopus lips champion then. Very Happy

The new Saya character looks more childish compared to the original. I liked the brooding character in Blood: The Last Vampire.

I agree with those who like the original design. This one is way too loli in comparison.

Loli? WOuld that not assume some sort of cuteness, or attractiveness of any sort? Cos so far that I have seen of the design for this new + series she has become so amasingly bland its shocking. There is absilutely no distinction or recognisable personality in that character design at all.

Bland is the only word I can think of to describe it. Throw in a "non-descript" as well. Could not be more disappointed without it being stick figures.

So far, NOT HAPPY JAN..

Lets hope the animation, story, and VA range from very good to great, otherwise I simply can not see any fans of the OVA being satisfied with this incarnation.

That said, I'll reserve my judgement until I see a couple of episodes. It's too early to draw any conclusions.

Yes. Well, sort of. It's a special sort of prequel, one that's set after the original show, instead of before. This has a name, a special word... work with me here, people....

Does it start with "S"?

Regardless that it looks a bit bland at the moment I am keen to see this!

Aside from the fact the lips stuied the character for some reason (and I really don't know why), but weren't they so large to show an female main protaginast in an anime doesn't have to be cute or something. I could swear I read this somewhere.

I liked the original design more. I'll still give the series a go though.

I never thought the characters of the original were ugly. Personally, I found Saya quite striking. Maybe it's just my dislike for convention.

The new character designs look familiar. I recognise them from somewhere else or maybe they're an imitation of someone else's characters?

Not a lot to recommend his character designs there, it's mostly animation directing. A video game from 2000 and an all-male anime movie with largely established characters don't exactly add up to much experience.

Never the less he is reasonably talented, but still, I wonder why they recruited him for Blood?

Those have to be the most flat, boring and uniteresting character designs i have ever seen.

Look like they were drawn with flash or something.

I liked the entire animation of the movie when it was released. I don't understand why Saya is so young in that photo there...they say Blood + but shouldn't the animation be increased to become even better?

Also isn't there a video game on this with the same adapted animation as in the movie?
Cause i saw it on a music video clip and I was left confused. The lips for Saya on the other hand...suited her character...guess the animators wanted her to look way too realistic for an anime lol!

Yeah, was blood the only one in the series before +?
I never knew there was an earlier vampire hunter D film before I looked into it.

Yes the lips where distracting but ultimately they suited the character.
I think what would be most worrying to me is that it if they try to insert comedic relief into the storryline.

Yeah I really hope they don't do that..... it will probably spoil the series.

I think blood was first gonna be a three part mini movie type thing. The one that was released was the first or second of the three I think.

thats what I heard.

To my recollection, there is a novel, a movie and a manga --- all of which came out close to each other. Blood+ is now supposed to be an `alternate universe' story (or at least I heard --- we'll have to see it to be sure), which has been a few years in the making. All-in-all, it should be VERY good Wink

EDIT: Just remembered there is a game (or two?) as well.

Elric you said in the other thread that it started out a bit like Elfen Lied...... Excellant Mr. Green

Aye, lots of blood and killings. No nudity, but I think I can live with that somehow Wink The next episode is sure to start off good too, as this one ended just before the fun began!

Aye, lots of blood and killings. No nudity, but I think I can live with that somehow Wink The next episode is sure to start off good too, as this one ended just before the fun began!

Well I am glad that there is no nudity in this, that wouldn't suit the Blood atmosphere anyway. Lot's of blood and killing.... nice.
Sound's like a good anime already.

I just saw the first episode, and so far so good. It certainly looks like it'll live up to its name...

Just watched it, was not bad. Will be following it. (though what an annoying time for the episode to end Razz)
