THE TICK is now on DVD in R1. Hopefully it gets a R4 release.

Now they just need to release Earth Worm Jim on DVD and this world will be a better place... for Earth Worm Jim fans, at least.

MCoG would be a popular release, and I gather Madman has enquired. However, the rights situation to the English language version is in a mess (who has the rights?). However, if you understand French, you can get it from France or Canada, minus the docos, I think.

That makes it hard, cos it is the main animation that most of us who watched the afternoon show (james valentine not michael tunn) in the eighties are after.
Hopefully they can get it sorted out so we can all get it.

I used to love Mysterious Cities of Gold.

You cannot underestimate the power of nostalgia, being able to own complete collections of my childhood favourites is really something special.

Hope Madman will release some more non-anime retro tittles like Silverhawkes and Thundercats in the future.

Anyone bought any of the retro 'Best of...' titles? I was thinking about buying the The Best of Transformers release. Looks good. Hopefully EB still have it.

Edit: I bought the Best of The Transformers release. Damn, it's really good. I love it! The 'Best of...' collections are awesome!

Goodness! This thread has brought back so many memories. I thought I'd add Ren and Stimpy, that was such a great cartoon, very ground breaking for it's time.
I hope there will be a region 4 release of Marine boy one day, I have a strong hankering to see it again, had such a big crush on him when I was a little girl. Smile

Whilst watching David The Gnome on DVD, I've been reminded of Vicky The Viking! Anybody here old enough to remember that?

Looking at the page for Vicky The Viking at Little Gems, it appears to be a German/Japan co-production.

And here's a page for David The Gnome too - it calims to be official, but who can tell?

Wikipedia pages for Vicky The Viking and David The Gnome

Has any one else been watching the classic Spider-man cartoon on Toasted TV in the mornings?

I love that fact that none of the villains are largely dangerous and are more like nuisances. Also, Spidey's web seems to do just about anything. In general it reminds me somewhat of Scooby Doo.

Actually, speaking of Scooby Doo, I caught a few episodes from the more recent series, it's still pretty cool. Is there any What’s New Scooby Doo? DVDs?

EDIT: Hey, new Kim Possible on saturday morning Disney.

The "Dot" set (nine movies) is available on DVD from Magna Pacific as a three disc set, although they're out of order. I wanted it so badly I pre-ordered it!

"Garfield And Friends" is slowly being released by Fox video and is available either disc by disc or as a series box set.

If you see the "Berenstien Bears" DVD's from Magna Pacific be warned they are NOT the old version from ABC all those years ago but a new version made in (I think it was) 2002.

What is the difference between that and the boxset Force Entertaiment released earlier?
It just looks like they decided to repack it or something.

The only difference, is the two movies (The Story Begins and Prince Kro-Tan) are included in the boxed set this time.

I really wish that Disney would release the rest of the series for Gargoyles, Unfortunately they have only released season 1 and half of season 2.
So if anyone remembers this show, spread the word to support the current releases so that Disney may change their mind.
Sales is the reason they won't release the rest of the show so we need those sales driven up. Spread the word and import away Madboarders.

The Gargoyles series has only been released on DVD in Region 1 so far:
Gargoyles: The Complete First Season
Gargoyles Season 2, Volume 1

I hope the rest of Gargoyles Season 2 is eventually released on DVD too.

I have avoided buying Gargoyles series on DVD so far, as I don't want an incomplete series. Especially since the story continues throughout season 2.

Kirben, I say buy it anyway. The more sales it gets the more likely it is Disney will release the second half of the season.
There are always other ways to watch the rest of the show if it doesn't get released.

Well the reason I'm waiting for rest of season 2, before buying, is I have never seen the complete season 2 of the Gargoyles series.

When Gargoyles season 2 was shown on Seven in distant past, many episodes were edited or skipped due to been unsuitable for the early morning time slot used. The Disney channel was never at right point (Season 2 start), when I had pay tv in distant past either.

There aren't any other legal ways, to see the series.

I don't see the DVD sales of Gargoyles series improving at this point anway. Considering it has been over two years, since Gargoyles season 2 part 1 was released on DVD.

They were included in the series in multi part episodes though I recall.
Unless these are different then what I remember seeing.

The original DVD releases of Defenders of the Earth from Force Entertainment were:
Defenders of the Earth Box Set
Defenders of the Earth - Prince Krotan
Defenders of the Earth - The Story Begins

The updated Defenders of the Earth boxed set, includes the series and the two separate movie releases.

Darn it! Why is it so hard to get cartoons in Australia? Yes, anime is prevalent, as is Cartoon Network and (certain) Nicktoons, but the rest is either not available locally - I have a LONG list of Region 2 releases I want - or released incomplete by little cheap companies.....

The updated set must've been the one I got when Force ent released it as it had all the stuff on it.
