What is your anime obsession, be it a character, a plushie/doll/figurine of a character, series or characters from a series and watever else that falls under the anime obsession umbrella

Well for me my Obsession has just started (so there is still time for me yet XD) and it is..............................

Ah! My Goddess series, namely one character which is Belldandy ^_^ and of late i have been "collecting" images more so Wallpapers of late, of Belldandy and A!MG related, more so Bell ^_^. And i dont get any one image, it has to be a decent image and do her justice XD

I have yet to get to the stage where i start buying figurines, etc of bell and co

(anyone know of a reputable place to get them and estimate of price XD)

From Plotless anime to good story anime it really depends on my mood swings.

Examples

I may watch M.D Geist later on i might watch R.O.D TV then switch to Princess Nine, and then Watch Dragonball Z.

Twisted Evil im twisted aint i.

I seem to have a lot of anime obsessions, but the thing I obsess over most changes fairly frequently. Right at the moment Maria-sama ga Miteru and Crest/Banner of the Stars are battling it out, with School Rumble only just trailing behind.

Mecha. And henshin/transformation/combination sequences. And the cheesy yelling of attack names.

Swimsuits.

But seriously, it's probably "old school" anime. You know, the whole "three Ts of Masamune Shirow" thing.

Finding a giant mecha series that resembles Battletech.

Thanks in no small part to the good people on this board I have found lots of cool mecha series that I have loved collecting, watching and re-watching but none that seem to be able to resist having at least one mech that is supermagnificentlymegadestructo and/or the pilot is psychoactively linked to the universal continuum.

sign me up for that one to Smile

i guess for a series i really got into azumanga daioh, it's been one of my favourite series since i started collecting it, though i'm not sure if i'd go as far as to say i'm "obsessed" with it

i'm not paticually obsessed with a character or a genre of anime......i guess i'm a boring anime fan Crying or Very sad

My thanks Gai but the main thing I am after is a series that has a Battletechy feel to it.

I love Gundam but IMO it is not very Battletech like as the Gundams make the battle unbalanced. I do have 0080 but have never gotten around to watching it.
As for Blue Comet SPT Layzner I had never heard of it before, that is a great help. Are they transforming mecha though?
I thought MegaZone 23 only has little battle armour things not giant mecha.
Metal Armour Dragonar sounds excellent.
Nadesico, ah dear Nadesico I do love that series.

I'm afraid I don't know where that pic is, but I'll try to find it.

Same goes for me - anything in the vein (or pulsing, biomechanical, cordite and silicon filled artery) of Shirow. Impractical yet believable mechas and stretched plausibility of weapon design...there's something cool about admitting what you've invented wouldn't work as well as it should...and the complete "you will get owned" aspect of his characters.

This reply has been split to represent my two viewpoints
Personally my animé obsession is all the mysterious characters. This applies to games too. Some examples include:
Rei Ayanami (NGE), Ruri Hoshino (MSN), Terra, Celes (FF6), Hyuga Hinata (Naruto), Hyatt (ES), Kirika(Noir)... you get the idea.

Inniss' Host Body wrote:

Selphie (FF8), Excel (ES), Urd(OMG), Chloe (Noir), etc. etc.

Plus I like merchandise, but I don't really obsess over that.

I'll join that club.

I don't have one particular obcession as such at the moment, but for a number of years I was absolutely obsessed with getting my hands on anything Sailor Moon, to the point where I've Cantonese/Mandarin language versions of the first series on VCD. Posters, figures, music CDs, you name it, I probably had it.

Like I said above, no real obsession right now, but then again my constant Astroboy obsession is always bubbling away, just simmering and waiting for the next big release to push me over the edge again....

Try the following:
Gundam 08th MS Team
Zoids
Overman King Gainer
Zone of the Enders

I've read a decent amount of Battletech bks and the top 3 are the best in that.

(wishes there was a 3rd Black Thorns Battletech novel)

As for my obsession. It's simply any series that I collect and find very enjoyable. The wait for each vol becomes really frustrating when that happens.

Now to go off and order vols 3 and 4 of Please Twins to satiate my new obsession. Very Happy

I've never really played Battletech but due to the handy-dandy Wikipedia...it sounds a little bit like most Gundam Series are.

You might also want to check out Heavy Metal L-Gaim but you'll have to ask somebody else about it. Although Mecha Anime HeadQuarters will have Reviews soon...apparently.

Choos wrote:

That's only in certain Series...for example, the Zeta & MK II were often heavily damaged by Yazan Gable, and Garrod's Gundam X gets trashed by the Bertigo.

Choos wrote:

Well, the Layzner MK II can transform...but it was never animated. You can thank bloody stupid TV Executives for that.

Otherwise, it's pretty low on the transforming Mechs...the Doles Slomcos are the only others. Surprising, for a post-Macross Real Robot Series.

Choos wrote:

Well, they're not huge by any means, but it still counts.

A Real Robots Height Chart

Okay, so the Maneuver Craft/Slaves aren't on there. But they'd be at the very bottom.

well... there was an animated battletech series, cresent hawks revenge? i think?... i dont know much about it, other than the fact that the episode that i saw was.... uhhh.... ugh! bad, badbadbad! you can find the series on a battletech mod site (i'm not too sure of its status, so i'll leave the link out of it - suffice to say it shouldn't be too hard to find...)

but actually, robotech is the closest thing to battletech i have seen in anime, or at least the first third anyways... (not to mention IIRC that mechwarrior 2 series was discontinued because it used some mecha designs from robotech, and got sued from it - hence why you don't see MaruderIIC's, Warhammers and a few others in offical mechwarrior electronic games anymore)

but, for an anime obsession, i just like anything based on Rumiko Takashi works...

I too am an obsessed Rei Fanboy. *notices accusing stares* But I do have some limits. My Rei figurine is legit, and I would never even consider purchasing that slightly more questionable Rei figure I saw in a store window...

There is also a complete lack of a certian style of Rei pics on my computer, and this has nothing to do with the fact that I've moved back in with my parents...

My obsessions tend to come and go, currently they are; Full Moon, Narutaru and Bleach.

I am permanently obsessed with finding anime jewellery *huggles Bleach bracelets*, hats and bags.

And....finding yaoi fma icons to use in msn, because it really annoys one of my friends.

I don't have a particular anime obsession. If i had to pick one it would be eva, every now and again a little voice in my head says "watch it AGAIN!" and i have to be strong and say "Die little voice! I've already seen it about five times and it's far too depressing!"

Maybe i should sell my DVD's.

Anything anime comes under my obession and even more so if it has cute characters (by which I mean both cutely drawn or attractivly drawn characters).

As far as DVDs go I prefer a combination of the above with really gripping/emotional story or comedy.

I can't help but buy dvds, plushies, toys, figures, rices balls/candy with anime characters on it. If I see it I need to own it. Luckly lack of money helps to calm the obsession.

but of cause that is no big shockng news there right
i mean if ya didnt know that then where ya been for the past few years Razz

But i will say that if it is an anime with a romance theme to it 9 times out of 10 u can bet ill be a fan of that anime

Cute well curved ladies? Being 33 I look at the Aunt Haruka's and Mitsumi's rather than the Shinobu's.

Yah at 16 the Shinobu's still look quite nice to me.

And ditto to Tony, can't believe I forgot that - <3 for Haibane Renmei, Lain.
