I really hate it when they do that. The worss thing is when they change the storyline around. What's the point of showing it then?

I also LOVE to hear the original music and One Piece has some good music too. I'm not looking forward to hearing the hideous dubbed songs.

In a magazine I'm reading (I think it's Mania) it says One Piece is coming to DVD early 2006. Considering the early in the year comments I've heard a lot, it wouldn't surprise me if it took a lot longer.

I don't see what the problem is though. It's such a popular show, they know it'll sell like crazy. Why not bring it out sooner?

Onepiece is being released by Madman uncut. it will have the same dub and hopefully <as they allways do> will have the original Japanese audio. last i heard it was late this year but i haven't accosted sly latley for information so i don't really know.

in regards to you oogi2000 whichever one im talking to, my experience is that those are the top 3 most popular anime at the monent. <circa last holidays:D>

But won't that mean there will be less episodes on each DVD since the have to put the dub 'cut' version on the DVD along with the sub 'uncut' version - or are 4kids planning to dub the 'uncut' version?

i couldn't tell you for sure. but id hope they dubbed the uncut.

Haven't seen the dub yet... so I'm not sure whether I will actually watch this or not. But if the quality really is as bad as I've heard... I won't bother.

Saw One Piece today. I reckon it's pretty good, but it would be so much better if it wasn't dubbed. Also, I watched a bit of Mew Mew Power at the end and I reckon it looks pretty good.

PS Sorry I double posted, I wanted to keep this alive....

The bit of it today I saw, well... I won't be watching it again. The dub ruins the whole thing. Evil or Very Mad Which is why I can't understand why Madman is actually releasing the dub-only at all.

Me too!

Well, I saw both Mew Mew Power and One Piece. I actually like Mew Mew Power more so than One Piece. Both are pretty lousy, I think. That's what happens when the Yanks get their oily mitts on Japanese cartoons.

Saw both Mew Mew Power and One Piece this morning.

Mew Mew Power was alright. It's got the whole magical girl thing going, so it's not exactly a show that's aimed at my demographic. I found it mildly entertaining nonetheless. It's suitable as the light breakfast TV fare it is. The dub script wasn't great, but that was hardly unexpected.

One Piece just sucked. I can't really explain why it was bad or what was bad about it, it just wasn't an interesting episode at all. I don't think it was even a dub thing - the story itself just seemed... kinda pointless, in a way. I guess it probably gets better later on when the action starts, but the first episode didn't impress me at all. (Edit: second episode was much better.)

One Piece isn't a bad anime. But the dub and all those tweaks completely drain the vibrancy and enjoyment from an otherwise fun show. And what the hell was that Opening theme song?!

Mew Mew Power had a far less excruciating dub but talk about Americanised! Geez!

I know these are aimed at kids but they really dumb this stuff down.

I admit, the Japanese first episode of One Piece failed to truly capture my attention but once I got into it....one of the best anime series I've ever watched (Japanese version ofcourse).

Alot of people just think the only changes between the Japanese version and American version of One Piece is that it has been dubbed with crappy voices. That's only touching the surface. The amount of editing and all around dumbing down is just painful to watch.

Today's episode followed the manga more better than yesterday.

yesterday episode 1. Im gonna be King of the Pirates (doesn't follow the manga that much)

episode 2. Roronoa Zolo the Pirate Hunter (follows the manga alot better)

It's funny watching One Piece for the first time Luffy voice does sound a bit annoying...I think it's a girls voice doing a male impersonation.

BUT Zolo (Zoro) voice is MUCH BETTER....at least my favourite character has a better voice than the others.

It's even funnier that in the Opening song they say Zoro and NOT Zolo...its almost like the CHANGED it the LAST minute.

But still Zoro is more correct than Zolo which sounds like Solo....Han Solo which is even stranger.

Originally it was Zoro but some idiot changed it.

One Piece does look a bit childish with the opening song.

DAMN looks like Naruto is gonna end up the same way.

If the episodes follow the manga then it's GOOD but I don't like episode that bend the truth and add characters in the story that aren't in the manga which makes the episode look more stupid.

I have to admit One Piece is still good to standards and entertaining but if they gonna make DVD's of this it better be uncut and with japanese dub since it would be good to hear the voices in japanese just for once to see what it's like.

But I admit I never really got into One Piece after the first three manga books since I found it was a little strange.

I found Naruto and even Bleach more interesting since more story depth.

But since I only know the start of One Piece I will keep watching it and see if the action gets any better since "manga" is ALWAYS better than any anime version of a manga adaption.

Boy still got the Opening song in my head ..Got GO Got GO SAIL FOR THE ONE PIECE ON THE GRAND LINE...sounds stupid hey.

It definitely seems like the 1st and 2nd episodes have been switched. I don't know if that is actually the case but it did seem a bit odd.

Yeah, the One Piece opening song is pretty lame. Reminds me of the Pokemon opening songs. Though, the ending theme (which is just a section of the opening looped) to One Piece isn't too bad. They should have done the entire opening like the ending.

I wonder if there'll be a massive marketing campaign like they had for DBZ and Yu-Gi-Oh!? I'll be interested in the Action Figures. I can only hope they aren't as dodgy as the Yu-Gi-Oh! figures.

It's Gum Gum Luffy NOT cum cum Luffy if you look harder it is a 'G' in the spelling.

Well I have seen preview of the Naruto web page and it still looks good.

If there still gonna release dub only release and cut then why make the SAME mistake twice...DON'T they know they'll be losing money because of this...are sales marketing people that Stupid.

ALL anime should be in both languages and uncut...including the subs.
uncut doesn't mean uncut subs though just footage.
But who know what gonna happen.

Hey doesn't anybody know what the opening song is like for the japanese version is like...is it better or completely different opening to what we see.

It was a joke, buddy. I know it's Gum Gum Luffy but from the image it looks like Cum Cum Luffy.

Also - the way he's holding his left hand is quite suggestive about the Cum Cum part Wink .

I knew it was a Joke...it wasn't being hard on ya it was just a bad way of correcting you and ruining your joke punchline at the sametime.

hense bad joke but sorry about ruining your punchline.

I have to say scaning that image was pretty bad on their part...I wonder if some parent would complain about that image.

The first episode shown was from later in the series, a "preview" episode if you will, probably so they could start with something more action packed (although I thought the real first episode was better).

It's completely different. Go here if you want to see the original opening:
http://www.toonamiarsenal.com/download/onepiece.php
You'll notice that it actually has an English version - 4Kids did dub the original opening but then ended up using their rap style one anyway (probably because it's shorter).

I've been watching One Piece. Personally I find it pretty enjoyable. But I would like to see an uncut release, too (for the sake of interest)

What's this I hear about a Singaporean made English version of One Piece? I heard it's entirely seperate from the 4kids version and had few alterations. Does anyone know more about this?

Odex produces licensed VCDs, but their website makes no mention of One Piece, which might mean they're out of print.

Damn, missed out on Mew Mew Power and One Piece today. Woke up at 8. Stupid electricity blackout.....

Anyway, like what Ninja Fanboy said, the One Piece theme song sux, and yes, it does remind me of the Pokemon theme song XP Don't get me wrong, I actually love the anime. *sigh* So much better if it wasn't dubbed....and I'd like to see the uncut version....

Mew Mew Power is pretty good I reckon. It entertained me. But honestly, like what speekfreek said, it'd be much better if they kept the original Japanese names, instead of 'Zoey' or 'Mark' or some crap like that.....

Mew Mew power I am thoroughly enjoying. Onepiece was not as excruiatingly bad as I had thought. I can watch it just to revel in the fact I'm watching my favourite anime on australian TV everyday.

It might be. I was told that the Singaporean One Piece was on TV in Singapore.

Geez, Odex's volumes have 3 DVDs per volume! I wonder if the DVDs are decent quality?

Isn't Magna Pacific releasing Mew Mew Power? That's a shame. I got a V1-4 of Fairly Odd Parents and they have lousy video quality. I've also seen a few TNMT volumes and their video is low quality as well. Can't say I have much confidence in Magna Pacific. It's lucky they're cheap DVDs.

Man I loved the Japanese version of One Piece beat the living day lights out of DragonballZ,

The Story archs and character development was excelent. The was a little to many main Boss guys running round. Either getting there just deserts or just chasing Luffy.

I got to about 100' episodes of 120, Friend of mine bought a 4 set of box sets with 5 dvd's each from ebay and it was worth it.

Whar 4Kids did should of been ilegal in my mind and the original Author should just Sue 4Kids for destruction of property. But hey that's just me hehe..

Any ways you guys keep watching cuase some people like it and some dont. It can only get worse or better. But I wont way which one it is Razz

And For Mew Mew Power.. I'm so waiting for the DVD release's man I love that show. So cute and stuff.

LOL , well it's one hell of a Bootleg comes with Rod TV style pages that fold out to 5 disks. All arted on box sides including DVD's, the subs are english and Chinese and the vocal is Chinese or japanese.. The subtitles are not so good but it's fun picking out the spelling mistakes..

So i' not sure this is a total bootleg.. just a chinese make of the series.. cuase it has 2 difference vocals and 2 different subs..

I'd get a picture of the box sets but donr have a digi camera spare Razz.

They're all dodgy in the legality sense, but not necessarily in the appearance sense.
