I imagine they will, given the apparent popularity of ID here.

Of course, they'll have to wait for the yanks to licence and release them...

Fourth Stage hasn't finished yet so I doubt it'll be licensed until it has atleast finished. There's also the expensiveness(probably not a real word Razz) of licensing an unfinished show.

It's the races from 1st and 2nd stages re-done with 3rd stage quality CG and different eurobeat music.

Black ops your wrong about 3rd stage been shown on CN.

It was Extra Stage that was shown as ep 40 and 41 on CN.

Battle stage is a repeat of all the races in Initial D.

Initial D third stage is a movie that is 114 minutes long and would not been shown at CN at this time.

Third stage movie wrote:
Shortly after graduating from high school, Takumi is approached by RedSuns leader Ryosuke Takahashi and offered to join him in forming a professional racing team. Before coming up with an answer to the proposal, Takumi seeks retribution by issuing a rematch to Emperor leader Kyouichi Sudou, who previously defeated him due to an engine failure. He is also challenged by Kai Kogashiwa, a second-generation street racer whose father was once a fierce rival of Takumi's father Bunta.

So dos that mean that the most recent Inital D is the last one until Tokyo Pop (and then sometime later Madman) release the 3rd stage movie, and later on (hopefully) a 4th stage series?

our release is still on 2nd stage the US should be closer towards the end of 2nd stage, the US is atleast 2-3 disc's ahead of in release...

i would of expected madman to up to the end of 2nd stage by now, cn is atleast 5-10 episodes or more ahead of our dvd release...

Where are you getting your information from? The final volume of 2nd stage was released last month ie. Madman are now done with 2nd stage. Once Madman release Extra stage (eps 40 & 41) next month there will be nothing more for Madman to release Initial D wise until they license Battle Stage, 3rd Stage, and 4th Stage. Which obviously haven't even been licensed in the States yet.

Fourth Stage will be licensed in the states soon me thinks. Its winding down to the final episodes (still havent seen a decent sub of Keitaro vs R34 GTR/The Foot of God)

I just hope Tokyo POP doesn't butcher the music otherwise looks like Japanese Audio and Subs for me again (not that i dont mind, i am actually starting to prefer it this way)

I hope that Battle Stage isn't released inside the series numbering (But is released stand alone, like a movie) as if it's just new animation for the older battles, I don't think I'd wanna bother with it.

Then again, I'm buying the Inital D manga, so I probabaly would buy it anyway, heh.

Battle Stage is one DVD that basically streamlines all the battles. They have like "Round 1 AE86 VS FD" etc... The battles themselves only go for 10 mins max

A few things that arent mention here about Battle Stage:

In has all the battles from 1st, 2nd, Extra and 3rd Stage.

Interesting thing is there is one battle in Battle Stage that you don't see in the series is the FD vs White Lan EVO (thought its real short)

Not for a while. It isn't even out in the USA yet, so it'll be a good year or so, I imagine.

Why won't Madman get the newset stages out already! Is it the U.S. licencers holding it up?

Yes they are. Madman get Initial D from Tokyopop and they havent licenced the new stages either, so it could be a long time before we get to see the rest of the stages here in Australia

Curiously, the Tokyopop manga is up to volume 22 (which I have) with 23 due in August in the US. Their website lists 32 volumes in their upcoming schedule. I think that I've seen up to volume 40 in Japan: Initial D - The College Years?? Smile

The same website only lists the 14 DVDs. Obviously, there's two distinct licencing deals and no manga region coding to slow down imports, suckers.

The manga is worth buying, if only so that you get the most complete version in Emglish. Sure you get the stupid "translated" names but at least there's no stupid video effects. Though it must be said that Myogi-chan's panties, which are clearly visible in the Japanese original volume 1, are hidden by an extra 5cm of skirt from Tokyopop's seamstress. Embarassed

that's the problem with the US, due to thier belief's for it to be allowed sales within the US they have to change some content to be passed by thier censors board over there, i think the only reason the japanese form isn't so censored as manga has a broard range of viewers there and the japs aren't such stick in the muds like the US..

Initial D Anime schedule http://www.tokyopop.com/S-1076/
Only 14 Volumes listed.
There is now a mailing list to be informed of future episodes, but it seems that is a general service so I didn't take it to mean that there would be new episodes soon.

Initial D Manga schedule http://www.tokyopop.com/S-1040/
Lists 32 volumes, of which 23 is the latest. 24 will be out in early November 2006. The manga are coming out at 1 every 3 months.

(If you search for "Initial D" on the Tokyopop site, it lists both the DVDs and manga under "Books". Can they get anything right?)

k i collected all of the disks from madman, but i am gettin sick of waiting for tokyopop (think its not making enough money for them, limited market appeal) , so is there any way madman will bypass tokyopop and just get subtitled versions, i know i would be happy to pay for proper disks from madman (support local buiseness), instead of crappy internet downloads.

or maybe a local sbs deal would be nice for all parties

Short answer: no.

Long answer: nope.

Tokyopop hold the rights, so it's really up to them.
